The BWI takes a pretty laid back approach. We arrived late Friday afternoon to find the instructions to locate our key and room taped to the door. Breakfast is served between 7 and 10 and it's pretty much anything you want (eggs, pancakes, etc.) and very well prepared. I really like this approach as opposed to the kind of rigidity...

We arrived at 9:00 PM, and our key was waiting for us with a welcome note from the owner. The room was spotless, comfortable and very large. The breakfast was incredible. In addition to all of the usual breakfast items, the special of the day was corned beef hash with poached eggs. When was the last time you had perfectly...

Lovely rooms, fabulous breakfast, and great company at the community breakfast table -- this bed and breakfast style inn is an absolute delight! We've stayed there many times and always look forward to going back!

Spent two nights. Room was beautiful and clean. Had that charming New England feel. The location was perfect. The owners were gracious. The breakfast was excellent. We plan to go back. There is no reason to stay in a local hotel when you can stay here.

This place is so great! Wonderful rooms with good mattresses, very spacious and elegantly appointed, but cozy too, with fires in the stove. The breakfasts are amazing! Marie makes about ten kinds of jams, which she even picks the wild berries for. They are very generous too. The winter sale we just took advantage of cannot be beat on this...

A wonderful bed and breakfast. Clean, lovely and the breakfast is worth the stay alone. It's a great location for U Mass, Amherst or Hampshire. Can't imagine why anyone would stay in a hotel in the area when they could stay here.

We stayed here two nights to attend a squash tournament at Amherst College. The rooms are very spacious with sitting areas and the rooms are decorated beautifully. The breakfast was delicious. Marie's homemade baked goods were outstanding. Marie and Dan were very friendly and the hard work and the care they put into refurbishing this historic home is clearly evident....

The room was charming and spotless, the breakfasts were filled with homemade items (including bacon produced down the road) and the location was right on the #31 bus to UMASS and Amherst College. We would love to stay here again!

The home made breakfast was amazing, Penny made the most delicious blueberry Muffins. The room was out of this world. All of the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to return and bring my family! Absolutely love it! Best B&B ever.

Warm and friendly, the Black Walnut Inn is an excellent B&B in Amherst, Mass near the UMass campus and local sites of interest. Marie, the owner, was a lovely hostess and great breakfast chef. Loved the freshly made muffins and bread at breakfast each morning! Our room was large with a full bath and half bath. The gas stove kept...
