We needed a dog-friendly place that wasn't the Comfort Inn, and we found this. Beautiful setting in North Amherst, a couple of miles from the town center. Staff very nice. Excellent breakfast (blueberry pancakes, local bacon and sausage, with many other options) at a communal dining room table. The dog-friendly room (I think there may be only one) is just...

This is my second time staying here. Extremely kind and compassionate staff. I have a disabled son he had a big smile on his face when he learned we were going to the Black Walnut Inn for his birthday celebration! Breakfasts are of top-notch quality! Rooms were fresh and clean! We look forward to our next return! Thank you to...

We were thrilled to stay at this quaint and historical B&B in Amherst MA. The family owned inn was very clean and had many antiques throughout the premises. Our room had a lace canopy and provided all the amenities we could want. The home cooked breakfast was superb! There were individual choice hot items as well as fresh fruit and...

I stay often in the Amherst area for conferences etc. and prefer an inn & a homemade breakfast to sterile chain hotel surroundings. The Black Walnut Inn was a very nice option for my recent stay of 3 nights; the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the food is very good; host/hostesses very accommodating. I would point out that it...

Traveling with my daughter, visiting colleges, we tried to stay in small Inns and B&Bs. This was one of our most pleasant experiences. Our room in the main house was nice and clean and comfortable and the location was an easy distance to both UMASS and Amherst College. There were refreshments on arrival and in the morning, the smell of...

Family in the area for a wedding. We occupied several rooms. Excellent location and accommodations for our group. Rooms were well appointed and functional. Truly, Tricia and the staff will cause you to return for another stay. It is all about the breakfast when staying at a B&B. Loved the table arrangement and choices of fresh and hot food. One...

We landed in Boston and drove the 2hrs to Amherst and, as promised for our late arrival, there was a note to welcome us, provide our key and give directions- perfect. Parking is very easy in the large yard space to the side of the house and buildings. We were in room 9 - up stairs - also known as...

My husband and I needed a place to stay for a wedding in Amherst and we were not in the mood for a generic experience at the Holiday Inn Express where most of the guests were staying. I had never heard about Black Walnut Inn but it looked good on line and so we took took a chance. What a...

The title says it all - room spacious and comfortable. Hard to say which was of higher quality - the breakfast itself or the serving staff - you will not be disappointed. Barn available for bike storage. Interesting interior of inn - old photos, period pieces, memorabilia. We purchased homemade jams. Joe & Melissa, Cape Cod

My family of five with three children under the age of 9 stayed at the Black Walnut Inn in early May for my wife's MBA graduation commencement. It was our first BB stay. The room we stayed in was a perfect size for our family (#7, my kids told me). There is a large yard with playground equipment for the...
