Bascom Lodge is a rustic stone and wood Lodge perched atop Mount Greylock in western Massachusetts. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's to provide accommodations for hikers, vacationers, and nature enthusiasts. Private and group rooms are available for overnight stay.The large dining room with its high ceiling and hand-cut oak beams provides an ideal atmosphere for a meal and the enclosed porch with wraparound windows overlooks the finest views in the Berkshires. Stone fireplaces create a relaxing setting after a day of hiking.

The Lodge is a lovely building but the cafe only mediocre. We were greeted (or not) by mediocre staff. It cost $4.50 for a small slice of cake served in a paper plate. Had to help ourselves to tea and coffee but not enough coffee to fill the cup. Server couldn’t be less intereste

While the lodge and staff are lovely, it should be noted somewhere that there is no air! It was 90 degrees during our stay, there is one tiny window in the room, and there are not even fans anywhere. We had to go in town to buy a fan for our room and still ended up leaving a day
