The Hilton Garden Inn in Annapolis, MD is a stopover for us as we travel the east coast. It is consistently the same offering good accommodations, pleasant front desk staff, and is in close proximity to downtown shopping, historic areas, and great restaurants. Bear in mind parking is tight, and the hotel no longer has a valet attendant on site.

The stay was good. The rooms were covid clean as well as the rest of the property. Safety procedures were in place and staff was friendly. The one thing that really was subpar was the food offered at the hotel. This particular hotel is located with on walking distance of all the food your foodie heart could ever desire and it is worth the stay just for location. I however purchased the breakfast during the booking process. What I didn’t realize is that they give you a boxed “grab and go” breakfast. It was a cold breakfast sandwich,a yogurt, apple and orange juice. The juice tasted water downed and not like orange juice. There was a microwave to heat up the breakfast sandwich but the English muffin was very dry and it didn’t heat well. I paid extra for this and didn’t realize this it what it would be. The bar is open but you can only get dinner or lunch to pick up and bring to your room. The food was ok but of course you get charged obscene fees like 22% plus $2 service charge.

blueeydangel0723, thank you for choosing to stay with us and your feedback! I apologize for the subpar service you have experienced while staying with us, we always strive to make sure our guests have a great stay and memories to share. I am not quite sure where the communication fell short in regards to our food service. We do offer boxed breakfast and lunch however we always stayed open for dinner- ordered of the menu with the option to be seated down or delivered to your room. I will make sure correct communication is streamlined to our guests and avoid miscommunication. I hope you'll give us one more chance to make it up to you and guarantee a great experience with us! The hotel room had a lot to be desired. The room had poor lighting, no shelving or drawers for clothes. I had to live out of my suitcase for a week. Absolutely no water pressure to take a shower and I called maintenance and nothing changed after they took a look. You literally cannot shower & rinse your hair and body even on massage setting. There was absolutely no breakfast of any kind offered. The A/C unit was so loud when it kicked in that it would wake you up and it had a constant high pitch whining noise. The location is somewhat good, but felt like the hotel could do a lot more to makes sure you had a comfortable stay as the prices are high.

My husband and I booked a two night stay at the hotel as a quick couples only get away. From the outside the hotel looks very nice and clean and is located within walking distance to downtown Annapolis. When we checked in Natalie was very sweet, she gave us a map of Annapolis and pointed out some places we should look at visiting.
We booked a king size room and was given a room on the fourth floor. Our room was just outside of the elevators and next to the conference rooms. It was the smallest room I have ever been in! From the looks of it they must have remodeled the supply closet as a room to make more money. All of the chairs for the conference room were piled in the hallway near our room and I’m assuming they used to be stored in our room but now that they converted the storage to this ridiculously small king size room they have no where to put the chairs so they are stacked in the hallway.
Besides the room being beyond tiny it did look nice. The furniture was nice and appeared in good working order until the bedside light on my side of the bed decided to stop working halfway through our first night. This was a problem because not only was our room very small it was also very dark. The only overhead light was just above the door when you first enter and it wasn’t enough to illuminate the entire room.
The bathroom toilet flushes so loud that there was no way you could flush it in the middle of the night without waking up whoever else is in the room with you. I had read about this issue in other reviews so I was half expecting it but I figured it can’t be THAT loud and other reviewers were just being dramatic. NOPE! It truly is that loud!
Our second night on the hotel I tried to get ice from the ice machine only to find that it did not work. I had to go to another floor to get ice. We also tried to order food from room service at 8pm. Room service was supposed to be available until 10pm but when we called we were informed that they decided to close early because the “kitchen was dead”.
They have a small fitness room on the second floor which we used both nights. It was very clean and well lit and for its size has nice equipment and weights in it so it was very nice for us to use.
Overall it’s a clean hotel in a nice part of town. The staff was very friendly and helpful and were able to answer any questions we had about the area and recommended good places to eat. I was just disappointed in the size of the room and the lack of working amenities for the price I paid. Since this was my first time in town I can’t compare this hotel to others in the area but based off of our experience the next time we visit I will look for other accommodations.

Dear Purpledoggy79, thank you for your detailed review. I have passed your feedback to our entire team and department leaders and I am very sorry you were unable to order room service. This is not typical and absolutely unacceptable! I also wanted to assure you the room you stayed in was never converted out of a storage room, we do have 16 room types and therefore different sizes as well. I would love to personally take care of your reservation next time you're in town so we can deliver the best quality service to you. I hope you'll give us another chance to impress you and we wish you a very Happy New Year! Sincerely, Alexandra B.

Horrible experience at this hotel. To start, the valet parking is $26/night even though I was told by the valet (who laughed at me) to park the car myself. Then, the room I selected via the app wasn’t ready and I was placed in another room. The room didn’t have any basic amenities (toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, razor) and fan was super loud I couldn’t sleep all night. When I went to retrieve my keys from the valet, there was no one to be seen and the valet stand (with everyone’s keys) was wide open. Anyone could’ve taken keys and driven off with someone’s car.

I've stayed at this hotel twice in the past six months. Once, for business (I'm a touring musician) and once for a short vacation. It's one of the nicer HGIs around, and the location is absolutely the biggest sell here. I used digital key and had almost no interaction with staff, except when leaving at 7am when the front desk clerk asked if we were leaving and room number. The hotel is a 9/10 on cleanliness overall, though the suite I stayed in for vacation had numerous carpet stains and could use a deep scrub on baseboards, porch furniture etc. Overall that most recent trip was quieter and I was glad to never even come across another guest in the elevator (good for COVID when most folks just ignore the rules for elevators). Parking is a bit ridiculous at $25 a day (up from $19 a day two months ago) but you can walk everywhere. I would just love to see, for the cost, a bit of a cleaner room. It felt, even for a suite, about $75 more than it should have been. That said, I would stay again.

Over $500 per night and for that you get to make your own bed, clean your own room, take out your own trash and eat on the sidewalk. Due to staffing issues, the hotel informed us upon check in that we could only receive 1 day of housekeeping over our 5 day stay. They also informed that the restaurant was not at full service, however, if your order takeout, you can’t eat it there although it is empty. You must eat on the sidewalk or in your room - the same room with no housekeeping.

This new-ish hotel is located in a rising neighborhood with restaurants and shops. It's not on the waterfront, but is within walking distance of the head of Main Street. There is off-street parking and the hotel restaurant (The Kitchen) served us a great late dinner on the evening of our arrival.

Very good location, 5 minute walk to the bars, music, (plenty of live solo/band) all near each other. Walk to breakfast cafe, etc.
Great staff, very clean. Valet Cliff was a great help, parking overnight for guests is not free, 26 bucks. My check in process was very easy and pleasant thanks to Katrina. (She checked me out too) Hotel is pretty new I believe. My only small issue with the room, no light on the desk, odd and not that important.

I stayed at this hotel for a single night and after 5 days my credit card charges came through for 2 transactions for Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Annapolis. One was correct, including room and taxes and parking. The other was for $104 with no indication at all of what it was for. After 3 phone calls, wasting my precious time, I was finally told it was the charge to cover incidentals. I travel constantly and understand that hotels need to cover themselves in case there are additional charges. These are always reversed when I check out, since I never charge anything else. But in this extremely unpleasant case they kept that extra money and even put it through as a charge to my bank. I have never had his happen before during thousands of stays, many at Hilton Garden Inn facilities. The Manager on duty, AB, said the charge will be reversed after the weekend, but they had no business putting it through in the first place. Do not trust these folks. This site is not worth your time and money.
