There is nowhere else quite like this in American Samoa. As other reviewers have said, the location is dramatic, but it is quite isolated. We had the bungalow. I think that we were upgraded, perhaps because we paid for five nights, the last one of which was really just so that we could have a late evening departure for our red-eye flight to Honolulu. The nearest road is a half-mile hike away, past seemingly friendly dogs. The road in question is one that runs past the end of the airport runway. The nearest shops are another mile away. Pago Pago, with its post office and better restaurants is a good 30-minute drive to the east. We had thought that we would not need a car for the whole time we were staying at the hotel, but really one is absolutely indispensable. Luckily, the hotel was able to provide one for our complete stay, and we could drop the vehicle off at the airport, before our flight. The bungalow can apparently flood during a southerly storm, as it is located in the lowest spot of the resort. The room is about 25 square meters (5m x 5m), including a bathroom (with a bathtub) that measure about 3.75 square meters. The room has a comfortable, firm, king-size bed; 2 small night tables with lamps; a flat-screen TV on a table; a desk (145 cm x 68 cm) with a shallow drawer; one armless chair; a wardrobe; and a small refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and 2 cups, glasses, tumblers, and sets of cutlery. For luggage storage, there was only a small bench (70 cm x 30 cm), we had to put our suitcases open on the floor, hoping not to accommodate any insect hitch-hikers. Alas, a cockroach DID get into my suitcase, so I inadvertently transported one to Hawai'i. We were not given a key to the bungalow, but after asking for one, it was provided. Breakfast is decidedly continental, with nothing apart from toast, jam, and fruit. We met the owners briefly (the husband joked that he "was just the gardener"), and, to pay for our stay, I dealt with the redoubtable Madam on our last day. Before arrival, communication with the hotel was never speedy. I usually had to re-send my emails to obtain an answer. For security, I telephoned my credit card details to Jona, who took my reservation. In terms of staff, we mostly dealt with Marie, who was very friendly and helpful.

What an amazing place to stay. Watching the waves crash on the cliffs, from a variety of view points, is fantastic. It's hard to describe. But this is now one of my favorite properties. Breakfast is good. The staff are great. And the owners very responsive. We pretty much had the entire place to ourselves. We rented a car from them and had fun exploring the island. Much better staying here than in Pago Pago! Our room was well equipped. Their updated email. proprietor.mos@gmail.com

Great staff, wonderful breakfast amazing setting and perfect location for visiting all of American Samoa. Owners and staff offer wonderful recommendations and they also have rental cars available for guests, which is a great touch. They make their home your home. Would definitely stay again on our next visit.

We were only a few days and the weather was terrible but we enjoyed so much doing almost nothing. Our room was very spacious and we felt at home. The whole atmosphere is very relaxing. Everybody is super friendly and the owner is a great host. She recommended where to have lunch and since we were a bit late for that, she called the restaurant to keep it open for us. (I think she owns half of the island). She knows everybody in the island and can recommend restaurants and activities. The garden and cliff are majestic and it was just perfect for us to have some wine near the cliff and watch the waves breaking on the rocks. Paradise! The location is just behind the airport. anything is near in the island but u need a car to move or take taxis, which are surprisingly very reliable. The breakfast could be better tho (too American-style for us). The fresh fruit platter was delicious. We passed in front of the other hotels and hostels the day we went around the island and used some of their facilities. they didn't look great. Moana o'Sina is by far a nicer and more enjoyable place.

What an amazing accommodation! We stayed here 4 nights in November and we would have loved to stay longer! While we never met the proprietor (Isabel was away during our stay), our host was named Marie and her friendly Filipino demeanor was just wonderful. She made our stay all the more pleasant! Each morning we enjoyed our fresh fruit breakfast in a detached open air pavilion. Breakfast was included in the room rate; there was cereal, toast & delicious home-made coconut butter, fresh papaya, bananas, kiwi, oranges, and pineapple The 4 acre property contained the main building with rooms, a large open-air fale, a series of other detached buildings, a beautiful garden, a massive courtyard, a large and small pool, and a number of great places to sit and watch the tide crash and flood shallow tide pools near the rocky beach (don't worry there, is a little spit of sand there, too!). This is also a great place to watch the sun set and the stars begin to appear! We had a very large, spacious, comfortable room that was well-maintained and very clean. The main room had a large bed, desk with chair, multiple other chairs/sofa. The bathroom was decent-sized and comfortable. And we had a wonderful balcony that looked out over the property grounds! If you are looking for a rental car, during your stay, just ask, and they will be able to hook you up!

We stayed for 3 days in May 2018. Our purpose to American Samoa was to visit the National Park. We booked our reservation several months in advance - and also intended to rent the car through the property. When arriving at the airport to get the car key from the restaurant, they did not have us on record. Oh no! After a few phone calls, it was decided that they could still host us, and it would be a couple hours for a car. We took a taxi to the property. In a couple hours - they arranged a car to be brought to the property. That being said - it could have been a real disaster, but they did their best to make it happen - and it did. Because of the issues above, we did not stay in the main building, rather, we were in an adjacent building that they took ownership of in more recent times. It had a main non-air-conditioned family room with tv and kitchen, and then an air conditioned room with bathroom. It would have been nice to have the tv in the air-conditioned portion of the space. The island is hot and humid. One would think you would have some ocean breeze - but only really by the pool. Unfortunately for our stay, there was no hot water in this adjacent building. But, really - not having the hot water wasn't a problem as frankly - the cold shower felt nice after a hot day of hiking! The breakfast every morning was very nice with cereal, toast, fruit, juice and/or coffee. Our hostess was fantastic and we enjoyed talking with her. Nearby was the KS Mart, which also has a very nice adjoining restaurant fantastic for dinner. We loved the grounds - just beautiful. The pool very inviting on a hot afternoon/evening. Sunrise - gorgeous. We happened to be there on a day when smaller cruiseboat arrived - so seeing it come in at sunrise was very special. One clear night, we went out to watch the stars. Laying on some of the lounge chairs - seeing the starts above, and hearing the waves crash on shore...where else can you get that sort of peace and beauty? Finally - what really made this stay special were the dogs. We love dogs - and these three made us feel at home. Knowing that dogs are a problem at some points in the national park, we brought Trader Joe's dog treats with us...the dogs at Moana O Sina absolutely loved them. If ever back on American Samoa, we would absolutely stay here again!

I just completed a five week stay at Moana O Sina and can't recommend it highly enough. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, but what makes this a real gem is the beautiful beach setting and warm Polynesian hospitality. The proprietors Dean and Isabel Hudson went out of their way to accommodate my changing schedule, extending my stay beyond its original length and making me feel welcome. I stayed in the main lodge the first couple weeks and loved that the family, other guests, and household staff were around to chat with. Later in my stay--when I was tired from work and homesick--I was in the bungalow, which I loved for the sense of privacy and solitude. It was the perfect end to an always hectic day to sit outside in the evening with a glass of wine listening to the waves crash and watching the fruit bats in a nearby pandanus tree. What I really looked forward to, however, was the greeting I'd get from the family dogs Amor, Zeus and Hera when I'd come back from work at the end of the day. Being away from one's own pets is hard, but the welcome I received from Amor--even when I didn't have bacon--made me feel like I'd found a home away from home. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for this treasure of a B&B, which is where I'm headed first thing if I ever return to American Samoa.

Loved finding this hidden gem near the airport and on the ocean. Quiet, homey place. More like a bed and breakfast then a hotel. Fruit, cereal, and toast breakfasts. Kitchen to heat or cook your own meals. Love the ocean side pool and lounging benches with water views. (Must be able to go up and down stairs.)

A part of me would like to give a bad review and not expose the Gem to others but I just can't do that, Unlike any other place on Island this little Bed & Breakfast is a lovely way to relax on island. If you have a book you have been wanting to read this is the place to do it.

Moana O Sina has the most spectacular grounds on the island, with stunning oceanfront and incredible natural beauty. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is gracious and helpful, the breakfast is scrumptious, and the local is great.
