A most unlikely yet rewarding destination is at the Filamona Lodge in Funafuti, Tuvalu. Tuva, what? Here, on this faraway atoll in the middle of the South Pacific is a place to stay that will not be up to your usual expectations but it is filled with the kindest, friendliest, most helpful people you may find anywhere. (Be sure to...

The Filamona is a wonderful place to stay. They helped us arrange a cake for our friends birthday, helped us with anything we needed including help when our flight was delayed. They were friendly, great and gave us great memories of Tuvalu that we'll remember forever - highly recommended!

There is not a lot of choice of casual accommodation at Funafuti. All places are rather basic, no hot water and food choices are limited. I stayed at Vaiaku Lagi and Filamona and prefer Filamona as the other has loud dances on late Friday and Saturday nights and the staff are more friendly at Filamona. Rooms are clean and beds...

My wife and I stayed at Filamona for two days. The accommodation is clean and basic - but that Is all that is available in Tuvalu. The meals available at the restaurant are good and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Penny, the manager who helped us with tour arrangements. R. Ellis, Calgary Canada.

This is a good choice for basic accommodation. What makes it stand out is the exceptionally great staff. Good location within walking distance of the airport. Within walking distance of other attractions. Food at restaurant is good.

Major infestation in a number of rooms which they have done nothing about despite knowing for months. Some of rooms are OK, but they will likely spread. The management clearly don't care. The whole place is falling apart. They are building some new rooms, but without good care, unlikely to be any good

Thank you for the review. I was unable to attend to the problem right away because it is a new problem and we have to find a way to solve it. Bed bugs is not a common problem in Tuvalu because it is hot they do not survive in a hot climate, the guests bring the bugs into the rooms....

Was in this place from 13th to 18th Feb 2014. Cost AUD 82.50 per night. They say it is with AC room, bed and breakfast. The AC was not working for the whole of my stay. So they deducted a mind blowing discount of AUD 1.00 per night from the price. There is a fantastic two course breakfast in the...

My first impression was "oh my god!". The place looked run down and i did have second thoughts about staying here. I did read a review on here before i went (about some other islands i was staying at) and they said its all relative and what you expect in each country needs to be evaluated and adjusted for each...

Arrived in Funafuti Tuvalu on the 31/01/12, after deciding not to stay at my original accommodation booking over the internet, I was looking locally & took a brief look inside this LODGE, when I was shown the room [sorry can't remember the exact room rate they were asking for], I have travelled to many countries around the world & around...

Stayed for a week while on business. It is literally 25m from the airport terminal and a 1 minute walk from the Government buidlings - and I was welcomed like a long lost friend on first name terms (which added to the welcoming atmosphere that accompanies weekly flights). The staff were all excellent and very friendly; the room dated butsufficiently...
