I was here with a large group that had chosen this hotel. It was a good choice. Hotel is in a central location which makes it ideal for walking and exploring the area. It’s right by the marina. It has a very nice pool area with an adjoining restaurant for breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was efficient. My room was quite large and offered a nice view of the city. Everything was clean and worked. WiFi was good too. My only issue was the shower in the bathroom. The overhead shower head needs to be replaced with a shower head/ hose combination fixture. Also, no bathtub but that’s not a problem for me.
There are plenty of meeting rooms in the hotel. Our group used a couple of the meeting rooms for dinners and so forth. Everything went flawlessly. One room featured a large patio area which looked out over the marina. Very nice! However, there is one big negative with the hotel, namely the elevators. Under normal conditions, there are only 2 elevators that go to the top floors. This isn’t enough in my opinion but the situation was made worse as one was out of commission for repairs. When that one gets done, the other elevator will be taken out of service for maintenance. Waits of 10-15 minutes for an elevator were common. Some folks took the service elevator or walked down the stairs. Keep in mind my room was on the 22nd floor. My advice is to book a room on a lower floor so you can use the stairs if needed.
Not sure when they will finish these repairs but they are extensive. Keep this in mind if you plan to stay here in the winter or spring of 2020.
Otherwise, this hotel is an excellent choice and good value for money.

I would like to commend the great food and service at the Miramar Intercontinental, particularly Anìbal Alonso, and the outstanding attention, care and diligence paid to my needs by this young chef who was working at a few buffet different stations while my family and I were dining there on a Sunday afternoon recently.
As a professional who is also into fitness and nutrition, I am allergic to wheat and a celiac. This makes me very intolerant to gluten (wheat, rye, barley and often oats). How I eat, what I eat, and the person preparing the food are therefore vital factors to me. Aníbal delivered on all these factors 100%, adding up to a perfect dining experience for me.
When I initially saw him diligently sauteeing shrimp for another diner, they looked delicious, but I feared contact contamination if he used the same pan or spoon for example. Naturally, I was also concerned about the ingredients.
Fortunately, this budding chef is also sufficiently bilingual, so he understood my concerns immediately. When I explained to him that I couldn't have any sauces or ingredients containing wheat or gluten in general, it was clear he confidently understood my needs and even seemed to summon a manager to confirm that his method of preparation and cooking ingredients would not put me at risk of getting sick. With a great demeanor as he worked, Aníbal even whipped out a fresh clean pan and utensils to sautee my shrimp with! Needless to say, Aníbal's shrimp dish was delicious and free of allergens! He cooked with confidence, and we ate with confidence! Two thumbs up for a win-win situation!
While there should be more attentive chefs like Aníbal everywhere, I feel that the hotel needs to have allergen signs at ALL food stations so that diners can be fully informed at all times as to what they and their kids are eating, just in case they aren't as lucky as I was, to get a knowledgeable chef like Aníbal that afternoon! I look forward to returning and to enjoying the same positive experience, hopefully with ingredient signs for all diners!

Nice rooms and great beds for the price. Most of the staff were nice and accommodating despite the language barrier. Staff Keyla needs to improve her attitude at times due to her responses to guest requests. Housekeeping staff are a little slow when it comes to cleaning or bringing requested items despite the hotel only having two out of three elevators working during our visit. The food was decent and the chef made great Cowfoot soup. Definitely an older hotel but they are doing their best. I might return due to enjoying the showers and the pool. Also had a great view of the ocean and the walkway near the marina.

The InterContinental Miramar Panama City is centrally located on the waterfront. The room is well appointed with the requisite comforts. An iron with the ironing board as well as a safe are available in the room. The restaurant menu was very limited which is understandable during the pandemic however the standard of food provided was not to a level one would expect from the InterContinental Group. The staff was very pleasant and willing to assist which compensated for the lack of quality cuisine. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Didimo the head supervisor in the restaurant has gone above and beyond to provide excellent service personalized and efficient. The staff including Jorge, Edwin, Valery and Rosemary have made our stay beyond pleasant.
Giandomenico the evening manager is equal to none of all places around the world we’ve visited. His attention to detail, charm and care have made the Intercontinental Miramar our home away from home. We keep coming back to the same hotel year after year because of the service provided and welcoming factor.
Highly recommended!!

We stayed at a suite at the MiraMar as a treat to ourselves. It was nicely furnished. The pool is surprisingly quiet given good landscaping and waterfall "white noise" . The hotel is situated between two three-lane highways (A main thoroughfare, Av Balboa - one direction on one side and opposite direction on the other side of the hotel. The room was quiet enough but we were always aware of the traffic - a constant hum. But great views to the ocean. The club level available to us because of the suite, was nicely appointed and well stocked for light hors d'oeuvres and drinks and then again for a light breakfast.

One of the best nights of our life was in the royal suite of Hotel Miramar. As courtesy, the hotel gave us an amazing buffet breakfast and they also had an excelent customer service.
From any window of the suite you can see a great view of the sea either at sunset or sunrise. The suite has a bathtub and showers with hot and warm water. The televisions had cable and the Wi-Fi was cortesy.
Also the suite had a kitchen with all the necessary utensils for cooking as well as a large dining room with 10 seats.

Ate Sunday brunch at the Bayview Restaurant. It has to be one of the best brunches in the country. there is a great variety of choices, including pasta made to order with nice big shrimp. Also shrimp was in great variety in the salad bar. There waffles were light, crisp and fluffy. They also had paella, Panamanian soup, turkey, beef and a wide-variety of desserts. The cost was about $45, which was well worth it. They also had unlimited mimosas. Please call to make reservations as they usually fill up all of the slots. The staff was mostly friendly, but sometimes didn’t follow through on some requests initially.

It’s hard to find a tour guide or taxi driver that doesn’t mention this hotel when you drive by… usually a comment that it is considered one of the best in Panama City. Pfft. I strongly disagree.
Let’s look at the positives: Gulf of Panama/Pacific facing rooms have an incredible view, common areas look nice and are generally in good condition, large pool area (although aging a bit), friendly staff, room had excellent air conditioning.
Deferred maintenance at hotels is a huge annoyance as a guest. My negatives are largely around those issues: shower is slow to drain - so you are standing in 2-3” of water quickly, beds are not to Intercontinental standards, room was not very clean (things like used toiletries, dirty fridge, etc.), one chair on the balcony with a cushion so dirty you don’t even want to use it, living room TV not working correctly, closet light won’t shut off, and graffiti behind the toilet.
When you’re paying $450/night for a suite, you have some expectations… and these were not met. I’m sure that rate is still below the normal non pandemic rates, I would have walked at that point with so many flaws.
A note about the traffic… yes it’s a busy road and there is traffic noise, but it dies down at night. I’m a light sleeper and had no problem. Panama is not a quiet city, so I wouldn’t let that influence your decision.

Dear jra3, I appreciate you for sharing your review about your recent stay. I am very sorry that you did not experience an exemplary hotel stay due to the maintenance and the cleanliness of our room. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be assured that I have noted and forwarded your comments for the management to improve. In the midst of the inconvenience, I am glad to know that the service of our staff, the great view and our pool were still appreciated. I very much hope that you will grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHGService

I don’t know how old it is. Our room was freshly done, the swimming pool very well maintained, the executive club nicely decorated, in short, if it is old it is not showing it in the facilities.
Hi Bertrand, we suggest you to book a Club Room or Suite, you will always be offered Club InterContinental access by booking this type of rooms.
Hi rfh103! The two bedroom suite allows Club InterContinental Access. Thank you mmall73!
We had a one bed room. My daughter visited and the hotel brought in a great cot (more bed like). The cost was an additional $20 per night but that included breakfast!
