Megapolis Hotel Panamá stands out for its prime location on Balboa Avenue, which guests love for its proximity to shopping and the financial district, despite some construction disturbances. While the hotel's atmosphere receives mixed reviews, with a call for more lively nightlife and varied opinions on the decor, its cleanliness is generally praised, although issues with housekeeping and linens are noted. Room experiences range from appreciation for their spaciousness to concerns over maintenance and service.
The value proposition is contentious, with happy hour deals being a highlight amidst criticisms of service and management. Amenities like the pool and breakfast are popular, yet inconsistency in housekeeping surfaces. Finally, the service garners mixed feedback, with commendable staff encounters marred by instances of delays and unresponsiveness.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for 2 nights, hotel was beautiful but empty, first room was nice small frig had a beer, small bottle of champagne and 1 coke, unfortunately the AC wasn't working, they moved us to a suite, very nice but frig was empty, AC worked well, very nice view over looking to water and pool. we had 2 tvs but had no instructions on how to use them or how to change the language to English (this was true for the tv in the other room too) no one was available to change it in the second room, called front desk and said they would send some one up the next day to change it but did not happen until late in the day. The suite had a very nice shower and a separate soaking tub. Breakfast was included in the price, the breakfast room was very stylish with an area to sit on the floor with the table buried. Didn't get to have breakfast there the second day since out flight left too early. Had a drink at the upstairs bar, very good cosmo for $8.00 also a nice selection of Scotch, bourbon is not as popular here unfortunately! The rooftop bar was not completed but we were able to go up there to look at the view. The hotel reopened under the Megapolis brand in March from the Hard Rock hotel so most of the decor was the Hard Rock theme. we went to the JW Marriot for the rooftop bar, so cool but the cosmos weren't as good there. The upper floor pool location was very nice with palm trees and a great view. The hotel has great potential but if they want to draw in more foreign tourists they need to have multi language capabilities written and provided for their guests. Would be willing to try it again but not until its fully functioning, would be nice if they provided an airport shuttle, the $20 Uber was a bit pricey and the taxis would have been over $30, airport is about 10 minutes away. The hotel is in a good location with an outlet mall across the street and walkable to the Cintra

I am a permanent resident in Panama having chosen not to rent a regular, classic apartment but to rent a one-bedroom apartment in Hotel Megapolis that provides me with state of the art accommodation & service , for each of my long stays in Panama.
Perfect location: close to the main shopping malls and to the financial district.
The apartment is nicely furnished with a view overlooking the "CASCO VIEJO", large living & separate bedroom; housekeeping is very good & pays attention to the customer's specific requirements.
The staff is friendly & cooperative be it at the reception or in the various restaurants.
Room Service is available round the clock! Although very acceptable, it's the only area that could still be improved.
The 50m-long swimming pool is a must for the swimming-lovers!
I definitely recommend the hotel be it for a short or long stay!

The breakfast buffet daily was very good. The hotel itself needs cleaning, water drips randomly from vents, the carpets in the corridors are dirty. They advertise various activities but so much of them are ‘not available’. We got the family suite that says 6 people on the website (it was 5 of us) then they say all the amenities are only for 2 ( like an all inclusive meal promotion, daily water, etc). If your trip is strictly for work then megapolis is fine, otherwise find a more friendly environment.

Today February 12, while we were in the pool area, we received terrible treatment from Bernardo Pino. This gentleman talked to us with the intention to intimidate me and my family. He has no manners and does not know how to treat guests. He totally ruined our family vacations. This is not the way a guest should be treated, I noticed that a family near us has issues with this gentleman too, and they left upset.
We have stayed at the hotel previously, and this time the service was very poor. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights and our room was never cleaned; our bed sheets never changed, and had to use the same towels. We ordered food through room service, and the dirty dished were never picked up.
When this hotel was the Hard Rock Hotel, the service was millions times better that now, after this experience I’m not staying there anymore.

One of the worst hotel stays I have ever been on. When I arrived, there was a long line at the check in that took about 30 minutes before I was attended to. When I was seen, the hotel staff gave me the wrong room (I booked an ocean view junior suite and was given a smaller cheaper room). This was corrected later by another staff member. On many occasions the operator would not pick up the phone, which meant room service was not possible. The room was cleaned at around 5pm each day, so if I would come back to the hotel for a shower in the early evening I would not have clean towels. Even when the room was cleaned the service was inconsistent and I may not get more than one towel, or even a single bottle of water. I did have a day when the room was not cleaned at all. Overall, this is a strange hotel that is uncomfortable, old, and poorly managed.

Hotel has not been updated since new ownership! Few employees spoke English. Most common areas not open or useable. Housekeeping did not give fresh linens when requested. Our room was dingy and outdated. Guest Services people were nice, but did not follow through on promises. Potential to be a lovely hotel once new owners get it together and refurbish and reopen with a bang . Lack of English for communication was truly a problem!!Right now, do not book!

Bad maintenance, terrible service. Water in the shower are too cold or too hot, air conditioning either doesn’t cool or keep cooling to very low temperatures. Most restaurants and facilities not working. Room service never answers. The cleaner always forget to leave coffee, water and bathroom stuff. You can’t invite guests to your room.
I booked total of 23 nights in 2 rooms and tried to shorten my stay, the hotel refuses to give any refund.
Terrible terrible, stay away

1.staff:
On arrival, the baggage handler watches us carry our large luggage ourselves. Then, even though there are no customers at reception, the receptionist (manager) yells at us from 20 meters away to put us in a non-existent line. The pool employees did not respond to our hello. A disastrous general attitude (except Nicolle at reception and a few waitresses in the restaurant)
2. Equipment
They brag about their rooftop which is inaccessible. Everything is old and poorly maintained. No electrical outlets next to the beds. We pulled the fire alarm because of the shower steam (and the employees told me not to use water that was too hot!). Our pillows clearly hadn't been changed and all smelled like different people's perfumes!
3. The atmosphere
Empty hotel, most restaurants are closed. The employees are sad and unqualified: they look like they were found on the street. This is probably why there are disclaimers everywhere telling you to put all your belongings in the safes: the employees are probably stealing from the rooms!

Not a fan of this hotel, it’s very tired in the rooms and walking areas. The corridor to my room was dark and musty smelling, most of the restaurants were closed. It’s in the middle of the city and there is nothing to do in the surrounding area on foot so you are captives! The adjacent shopping mall is half empty with closed shops, and a dingy casino.
There was no bottled water in my room, so I went to the bar and they charged me $17 for two, 1L bottles!!
Positives: The bed was comfortable and the shower was clean and powerful. The staff were polite and courteous.
