We thoroughly enjoyed this place! We used this place as a base camp while in Panama City returning after other excursions. Everything else people have written is true except we liked the location more than some have mentioned. We felt it was pretty central. The best part is the vibe of this place. The other travelers were informative and fun....

I haven't checked the other hostels in Panama City, but Mamallena was a great choice. Yes, the beds are extra comfortable. Yes, there are free pancakes and free coffee (one of the best I've drunk in a hostel in Central America!). Yes, there is a nice garden with hammocks. Yes, they offer cheap laundry service. Yes, the staff is great...

good location! very clean rooms staff are great and very well informed on what to see do etc in the city and surrounds! def recommend staying here is panama in on your agenda. free internet and huge selection of dvds etc. also as many travelers are on the late night flights to the states etc they let u hang out...

This hostel was amazing. The people were great with 24 hour reception, clean, helpful, friendly, airconditioning. Great common areas. So far on this trip this was the best hostel. And like the title said this hostel made panama city for me:)

Mamallena is a really good hostel and we enjoyed our stay in the private room. I liked that the air con was on from 9pm (overnight only) as it is environmentally friendly, gold star guys! Very clean hostel and helpful friendly staff. It was pretty close to everything and the information provided to guests about the surrounding area etc was...

This place is very well organised and a lot of thought has gone into what a traveller wants from a hostel. Lots of information about what to do in town, how to get there, whats near the hostel. Lots of info on boats to/from Colombia and they reply very promptly to emails. Had no hassle at all booking my boat...

A wonderful environment, with the cleanest, most comfortable (air conditioned) dorms I've ever been in. The facilities are spacious (with Wi-Fi throughout), boasting three large common areas, as well as a kitchen to prepare your own meals. we stayed at mamallena in a private room for 3 nights and were really content. the room was small but very clean and had aircondition at night. the room was directly at the hostel's garden and sometimes people are hanging out there at night, so you might hear travellers talking (or singing and playing guitar), but all in all the...

on our trip to Panama we totally spent 3 different times in hostel mamallena (December and January) common area is big (both inside and terrace and garden with hammocks) therefore inviting for a rest. the kitchen is big enough, clean and they provide you with free coffee all day, pancake for breakfast! there are plenty if bathrooms and toilets (just...
