Stay at the this beautiful hotel in August for my brother's wedding. The rooms were lovely, the history of the place so unique. But what made the most difference for me, was the staff. We had RENE help us, and he was wonderful helping us load and unload to the cars. We were a big party, and he as patient and helpful. Not only him, but many other staff members. It is truly a charming hotel. And we had a LOVELY time.
Walk everywhere in Casco Viejo. Friendly and helpful staff. Room is small (because it's a historic hotel) but is updated superbly. Bed was very comfortable. We stayed Sat & Sun nights and there was an acoustic guitar player performing in the lobby both nights. Sunday morning breakfast had traditional Panamanian dancers too.
My husband and I were guests at the Central Panama Hotel this past Monday & Tuesday 9/12 and 9/13. This was the last 2 days of our honeymoon & we were advised by friends who had just made a visit to Panama City — that the Central was the BEST hotel in Panama City. We were having a wonderful stay until Tuesday evening when there was a very loud, and very late party/event in the lobby of the hotel. At no point were were given any notice that a late, raging party would be happening. Not when we booked, not when we checked-in. When we called the front desk to see when the party was ending (we had hoped to have a restful night’s stay) — we were told '10 or 10:30, maybe 11?’ This was after we’d been calling repeatedly — including to try to order room service. The front desk staff we extremely rude. We asked for a manager to which we were told that there wasn’t one — and that we would receive a phone call from the manager the next morning between 8AM-9AM. We never received a phone call from a manager. Upon going to check out — we asked for a manager — and to inquire about receiving a refund for our very unrestful night. Alfredo Duncan, the supervisor on duty, told us that he was aware of our phone call complaint. We asked for a refund, and he told us he was able to to do so. In fact, he was very rude saying that ‘events are what we do, we shouldn’t have to tell you if you’re not a part of the event’ and we were given your email addresses. At no point did Alfredo even apologize that we had had a poor experience. We have yet to have any follow-up from the hotel about our request for a refund of our Tuesday stay. We are frequent travelers & stayed at amazing hotels across the world and never had such a horrible experience or be treated so rudely.…
The real positive this hotel has going for it is location. The location really can't be beat if you are looking to spend a lot of time in Casco Viejo, which we were. However, there are a few things that I was not fond of. First the food for the buffet breakfast is horrible, like barely edible. I read this on other reviews so my expectations were realistic going in. Better off eating breakfast elsewhere. Unido Cafe was our favorite and a close walk. Second was the 24 hour gym located directly above our room. Make sure you specifically say you do not want room 135 or 136 or you too will be woken through out the night by people dropping weights and playing loud music. I tried to tell the guy that checked us in about how horribly loud people were all night and he just said "ok". They did not offer to switch us into a different room or even offer us earplugs, they simply did not seem to care about it. so we spent 6 nights being woken up at crazy hours by gym goers (who is working out at 3am?!?). The pool has a beautiful view but it is not super kid friendly and the deck around the pool is scorching hot. The staff was mostly friendly with greetings on entry and exit but Alfredo at the front desk was the real star. He was the nicest and most attentive of the bunch. If you need something during your stay, go to Alfredo! Overall, I am torn as to whether or not I would stay here again. The location is so good, but the hotel was lacking. Hopefully they make some improvements.…
I enjoyed a burger and a beer while waiting between appointments in the area. The staff was very kind and helpful - I highly recommend a stay at Central Hotel Panamá and be sure to learn the amazing history of this beautiful landmark!
This is by far the best hotel I have seen during years of travel. The staff provides an amazing service in where everything is arranged for you which includes; bar services, restaurant, valet parking, and most importantly amazing rooms in the middle of historical cathedral. Thank you Mr Reynaldo for arranging such amazing deal on the presidential suite along with all other services. Mr Alfredo, amazing customer service during check out.
Wonderful place with tons of history. First hotel in Panamá City (1874). It has its own parking garage. The hotel si so charming as the location. Casco Viejo is spectacular, you feel that you are in a movie set or something.
Such a wonderful hotel! Staff was amazing and very hospitable. Franklin was the best! The rooms are very comfortable. There is a nice roofdeck pool that felt amazing on the hot days. Highly recommend staying here to be within walking distance to great restaurants and nightlife.
Excellent place to enjoy a incredible gastronomic experience, the host/sommelier (Jaime) is a great person who knows exactly what you want and can guide you through a new explosion of flavors in the heart of Panamá Casco Viejo. The place, Bistro Central is cousy and have a romantic atmosphere 100% recommended, if you visit Ciudad de Panamá can’t miss the opportunity to have a great pleasure to know this place.
Enjoyed a nice dinner and superb attention from Johandris for our sister’s graduation, he even brought some complimentary desserts to add to the celebration. Thanks for the great experience! Will keep coming back.
