Good hotel, very good rooms with bar fridge. Standard breakfast but serves well. Great and attentive staff, excellent location, safe location and easy transportation to various points of the city. I really liked the time at the hotel.

My in-laws stayed here four years ago and asked if we could all stay together at the same place when we visited San Salvador. It's located in a very safe part of town. I felt comfortable walking around nearby Plaza del las Americas near midnight. Nothing about the neighborhood felt threatening. It's a comfortable hotel with a smallish rooms. Parking is limited. The neighborhood is quiet in the evenings. Traffic around the plaza is pretty hectic during commute hours in the morning and then again in the afternoon.

Our room was small, one double size bed, but comfortable. Furniture is best described as scarce, but the closet includes shelving. Our room was clean with plenty of hot water for showers. The room had the best air conditioning of any place we stayed in El Salvador. At max, you will be completely chilled. Best thing about this hotel is service. They are attentive, prompt, and genuinely concerned about your comfort. Second best thing about this hotel is price, at an average cost of $45 per night. They included breakfast with eggs cooked to order. The service, amenities, and facilities are very good. They cater mainly to Central American business travelers more so than foreign tourists. Bone up on your Spanish, they have a few English speaking staff, but they're not always on shift. Internet is very good in the morning, but in the evening, I suspect general internet traffic causes the slow down I was experiencing.

The Google Map location is completely wrong. See my posted map for actual location.

It is a nice place for short trips, you can enjoy your breakfast in the morning while receiving visits or even just having a nice time. Close to the El Salvador del Mundo monument, you can access to the main highway very soon, and the best I did find is that the hotel is an street with low cars and persons movement. People around is those who goes to the Hotel or the Catholic Seminar San Jose de la Montaña.

On December 25,2018, my husband (legal husband married for 3 years under the laws of the United States and domestic partner for 8 years)and I were refused to stay at both locations villa Serena San Benito and Escalon because we requested a single bed. The exact words were: “we do not book single bed to two men or women. Only to straight couples “. They were willing for us to stay on night with the condition that we were willing to take a room with two single beds and rebooked with another hotel for the rest of the nights !

I have never been discriminated when booking a hotel room. I refused their offer and on Christmas Day, 3pm re-booked with another hotel. This is why my country, El Salvador can not process, due to narrow minded management/administration of Villa Serena !

I stayed at Villa Serena on my first of six trips so far to El Salvador (each time after that, I stayed with my wife or with friends or in another city) and it was more than wonderful. The service was perfect. The cleanliness was perfect. The homemade breakfast in the beautiful courtyard patio was perfect. It was quiet, yet I was two minutes from many great places in the city. The owners are wonderful and professional. When I was there, they didn't have wifi but they did have two computers for guests to get online. The neighborhood is safe, but remember that it is still El Salvador, so still be careful. The price was so reasonable for the quality I received. (I was there in Sept. 2007 but that's not a choice on "when did you travel".)

My wife and I have stayed here a few times. The rooms are clean and nice and open up to a well-cared-for central garden. WiFi is included along with a full breakfast that has healthy options. A large shopping mall is nearby that has a very good movie theater.

I was travelling with friends. We reserved two rooms. I had a clean room with a comfortable double bed, hot shower, and cold AC. Wi-Fi worked for me from room #18. I heard no noise. It was quite a gem with a nice inside garden. Others have commented on small breakfast. However, that was not my experience. Had eggs to order, toast, and Salvadoran beans. Coffee, tea and juice was walk up. Breakfast was not buffet but a regular serving size. If you want big breakfast have Taxi take you to Denny's food chain and get grand slam breakfast. I loved sitting out on veranda/patio having breakfast off of kitchen.
We stayed 2 nights. Checked out of other hotel that was a one week group trip and checked in here on a Sunday afternoon. While we didn't need it, found the receptionist had solid English speaking skills. He also ordered us taxi for 4am pick up to take us to Platinum bus station for our continued travel to Guatemala.
My room had plenty of closet shelving and a fridge. No microwave. I ended up with a common cold so went to the pharmacy that is on the main street only a few blocks from hotel (there are two. The other across the busy street) to buy cough syrup and tissues. In that area there is a Mister Donut, which has lunch options --much more than donuts, Pollo Campero, and Wendy's. We would definitely stay here again. Biggest thing is to stay tuned in when taxis dropping you off because many seemed to have a bit of trouble to find it. Also later in night, taxis will need to drive around block to drive to hotel for drop off because street access from main road is closed due to police station on that end. But, it is a simple drive around the block, not a big deal.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and greatly enjoyed my stay. I arrived at night and caught a taxi to the hotel from the airport for $30.

The hotel is spotlessly clean. I had a room on the second floor and there was no problem with noise. The rooms in the hotel are small, with a good-sized closet, a mini fridge, and flat screen TV (no English language channels). They have air conditioning, and it worked well. The bathroom is small, but the showers are strong and have hot water.

There is a small business center with computers and a printer. I didn't use it because I had my laptop with me. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, and worked both inside and outside my room.

A small breakfast is included, and you get one of 6 choices. However, you can choose a second selection for $3 more. Coffee, juice, and cold tea are included.

Very few staff speak English, so if you don't speak or understand any Spanish you will be at a disadvantage.

My only complaint is about the sightseeing service. They would not arrange a trip along the Rutas de los Flores, a popular tourist attraction. At one point there was a tour desk in their business center, but it's no longer there. The hotel still claims to offer tour services, but their "tour guide" is only a driver and speaks no English. His taxi service is a bit overpriced, so try to bargain if you decide to use him. However, he is very nice and personable as are all the staff.
