Our room was small, one double size bed, but comfortable. Furniture is best described as scarce, but the closet includes shelving. Our room was clean with plenty of hot water for showers. The room had the best air conditioning of any place we stayed in El Salvador. At max, you will be completely chilled. Best thing about this hotel is service. They are attentive, prompt, and genuinely concerned about your comfort. Second best thing about this hotel is price, at an average cost of $45 per night. They included breakfast with eggs cooked to order. The service, amenities, and facilities are very good. They cater mainly to Central American business travelers more so than foreign tourists. Bone up on your Spanish, they have a few English speaking staff, but they're not always on shift. Internet is very good in the morning, but in the evening, I suspect general internet traffic causes the slow down I was experiencing.
The Google Map location is completely wrong. See my posted map for actual location.
I have never been discriminated when booking a hotel room. I refused their offer and on Christmas Day, 3pm re-booked with another hotel. This is why my country, El Salvador can not process, due to narrow minded management/administration of Villa Serena !
We stayed 2 nights. Checked out of other hotel that was a one week group trip and checked in here on a Sunday afternoon. While we didn't need it, found the receptionist had solid English speaking skills. He also ordered us taxi for 4am pick up to take us to Platinum bus station for our continued travel to Guatemala.
My room had plenty of closet shelving and a fridge. No microwave. I ended up with a common cold so went to the pharmacy that is on the main street only a few blocks from hotel (there are two. The other across the busy street) to buy cough syrup and tissues. In that area there is a Mister Donut, which has lunch options --much more than donuts, Pollo Campero, and Wendy's. We would definitely stay here again. Biggest thing is to stay tuned in when taxis dropping you off because many seemed to have a bit of trouble to find it. Also later in night, taxis will need to drive around block to drive to hotel for drop off because street access from main road is closed due to police station on that end. But, it is a simple drive around the block, not a big deal.
The hotel is spotlessly clean. I had a room on the second floor and there was no problem with noise. The rooms in the hotel are small, with a good-sized closet, a mini fridge, and flat screen TV (no English language channels). They have air conditioning, and it worked well. The bathroom is small, but the showers are strong and have hot water.
There is a small business center with computers and a printer. I didn't use it because I had my laptop with me. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, and worked both inside and outside my room.
A small breakfast is included, and you get one of 6 choices. However, you can choose a second selection for $3 more. Coffee, juice, and cold tea are included.
Very few staff speak English, so if you don't speak or understand any Spanish you will be at a disadvantage.
My only complaint is about the sightseeing service. They would not arrange a trip along the Rutas de los Flores, a popular tourist attraction. At one point there was a tour desk in their business center, but it's no longer there. The hotel still claims to offer tour services, but their "tour guide" is only a driver and speaks no English. His taxi service is a bit overpriced, so try to bargain if you decide to use him. However, he is very nice and personable as are all the staff.
