The hotel is so old, they don't even clean the rooms. I was booked for 2 nights and I couldn't even sleep properly as there so much dust in the room. Upon complaining so many times they came to clean the room but I didn't expect this from a Sheraton hotel. I have attached the pictures of the amount of dust in the room. Its not like we are staying for free that they cannot even clean the rooms properly.

When I checked in, they knew full well that I am an ambassador status in the marriot programme. (This is the highest, after having achieved platinum life and titanium) still they did not have the usual suite upgrade for me, they actually gave me a room that you get as a walk in guest, except this was on the so-called club floor where the view is blocked from anything interesting. I gave them three days to correct my situation but not even a response from the managers. If you are on the marriot programme don’t bother staying here. It’s not near anywhere and you get treated poorly.

Room Tip: Get rooms on the other side of the hotel that actually looks at the pool instead of being blocked...

I was there for work and stayed few days extra for sightseeing. Everyone at the hotel was very nice, one thing I can say is that not having a concierge desk is not good especially when asking for restaurant recommendation and or directions, front desk and others staff were not very knowledgeable. Hotel is very close to Zona Rosa, which has many great restaurants (walking distance). I would recommend this hotel for business and family trips.

This huge property is conveniently located in central San Salvador. It has been updated nicely and the rooms are large. Service and breakfast was excellent. Other food was mostly good, with a couple of oddities. Club was small but nice. Pool is fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.

My best friend and I stayed here recently and it was amazing. The room was clean, the hookah bar was convenient and everyone was so nice. They gave us great suggestions for places to eat and drink and always called us a cab. One night we got stuck out and we called them and they sent a cab to get us. They arranged our Covid test and all. We felt so safe and well taken care of. Free parking was a plus! I highly recommend and would absolutely stay again if ever in San Salvador. It’s close in distance to everything and just a quick 45 minute drive from the airport.

We enjoyed our stay at this excellent hotel when visiting San Salvador for the US-El Salvador World Cup Qualiying match . Classy place that has hosted several past US Presidents as displayed on the walls of the hotel. We had a large comfortable room. Modern bathroom with large walk in shower. Beautiful pool area. The comfortable La Terrazza Restaurant where we enjoyed a buffet breakfast each morning opens to the gardens and pool area. There is also a separate bar which was very inviting. The hotel is located in probably the nicest part of the city. Felt very safe walking around in the nearby area. Uber is easy to obtain and very inexpensive. The best part of our stay was the front desk. Very professional but also very welcoming. All were fluent in English. I decided at the last minute one morning to try to find a way to get up to Santa Ana Volcano. Without any hesitation, the receptionist at the front desk made a couple calls and within 30 minutes I was on my way to the Volcano on what turned out to be an excellent private tour. As others have pointed out, this is not strictly a business hotel. Many families and groups come here to celebrate. Friday night did get a bit louder with wedding groups staying at the hotel but things quieted down after midnight. There may be newer places to stay in San Salvador but it would be hard to match the history, classiness and atmosphere of the Sheraton Presidente.

Tonight is Thursday and there is a party going on under the balcony directly under my room until midnight. It is not unusual for weekend parties to go until 2AM. I have to be at work at 5 am and for 125 dollars a night this is unacceptable. I have asked repeatedly to be put at the other (quieter) end of the hotel but despite my status I still get the loudest room in the facility. The staff is friendly but this is unacceptable. As a business traveler I should not have to sleep whilst wearing noise cancelling headphones. I deserve better and will be staying at the Crown Plaza next trip. I suggest you all do the same.

This is my fourth or fifth visit to this hotel which never disappoints. There are other newer hotels in San Salvador with nicer rooms that have more appliances and modern features, but this hotel continues to be the grand dame of hotels in this Capital city. It’s that place where families, groups and ministry officials meet for lunch or dinner. The photos and gold name plates of former presidents from around the world adorn the walls near the elevators. The restaurant serves up great meals morning, noon and night time. The pool and outdoor seating areas remain the highlight of any stay in this hotel. It’s much like a tropical paradise with palm trees, beautiful and amazing flowers, thatched roof sitting and dining areas and at least six Guinea chickens that surprise guests as they run around squawking! As a lap swimmer I count my strokes and this pool must be at least 25 meters wide with a shallow pool for children and it’s always kept clean. The rooms are comfortable with flat screen televisions and modern bathrooms with glass doors and a lighted mirror. This old hotel could use a paint job and some concrete repair, but otherwise it’s a great place to meet, eat, drink a cold one and enjoy a good night’s sleep. The friendly front desk personnel wear suits and ties and most of them speak English as well as Spanish. They are always helpful and kind unlike other hotels with imposing people in dark suits. There are places in El Salvador that are not recommended for safe travel, but this area is definitely not one of them as I have walked around this area during the day or at night. Finally, it’s easy and convenient to use Uber for trips to local restaurants, malls or just the airport.

This hotel is in a great location and if you go by the pictures they post on their site and other travel sites, you would think you are getting an amazing hotel at a great price. In actuality, you are staying at a hotel property with a luxury name, at a luxury price that has fallen into disrepair and not only has been ignored by its large chain brand, but that charges ridiculous prices for everything ($3.75 for 6 ounce cup of watered down orange juice, $15 for 1 egg and dried out refried beans from a can as breakfast), and slaps small bandaids over large problems. Judging by the picture, you would expect a beautiful pool with full flowing man made waterfall splashing into it. In actuality, the man made waterfall is falling apart and barely drips a small stream of water into the pool. Except when they needed to operate the waterfall for a wedding party, then it was full flowing and leaking into the covered grotto below it. I tried posting pictures of this dripping faucet of a waterfall, but the file was too big and it wouldn’t take. However I was able to upload it with other pictures I took of San Salvador, so maybe you can find it if you look for it. The pool floor is cracking and needs a paint job and patch work done to cement (not to mention a power washing to get rid of years of stains). So they can make the waterfall flow for wedding photos, but not for paying guest staying there because of the misleading photos they advertise??? The building is in desperate need of a paint job, cement and stucco repairs. The carpets and drapes are warn and probably 20years past their usefulness. The ice machines on every floor are broken and if you want ice, you will need to go ask for it at the bar. The TV’s are nice, but no premium channels and while the show American networks like CNN, Fox, NBC New York and others in the lobby and restaurant, they are unavailable in the hotel rooms. The grass parts of the property are well maintained but there are dead palm trees and flower beds throughout the property. Several dried out ponds and other landscape features that either no longer work or are falling apart from years of neglect (this is not pandemic related in my opinion). Our mini refrigerator had mold growing on the plastic shelves and left over lime and fruit pieces from prior guest (who knows how long ago). Lime scale buildup on the shower heads, despite being a nicely appointed bathroom. The beds and bedding were fairly comfortable. Hallway carpets are worn out and need replacing. There are several quails that roam the property like chickens and are fun to watch. Walls in the hallway show cracks and fatigue damage. You can see where quick plaster patches were done, some not even painted. Just quick patches to cover leaks and other problems. The staff was great and very attentive. They were helpful and went out of their way for the guest, but you can tell they can feel the lack of support from the Sheraton brand. They know the hotel is not showing the proper level of care for the property and do their best to over come the lack of appreciation the brand is showing this property. This could be an amazing jewel if the company put a little money into properly fixing and renovating it. It is concerning though that they have 4 or 5 caged peacocks that are malnourished to a point their feathers are loosing color and falling out. El Salvador is a beautiful country and is starting to expand its tourism. It is working on improving its infrastructure to handle the growing tourism demands. I highly recommend visiting El Salvador and would recommend seeing all this wonderful country has to offer. However I would recommend choosing another hotel till Sheraton (or Marriott who now own the Sheraton brand) actually fix this property. It is surprising how bad the company has neglected the property considering a brand new, huge, 22 story multi function building is being built in the same complex (across the street) that will include restaurants, a large shopping mall, condominiums and more (set for completion next year due to the pandemic). The lobby by the elevators shows pictures of foreign leaders who have visited this property in the past. Former presidents of Spain, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico and former US presidents like Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama. I am sure this was when Sheraton actually cared and took care of the property. I doubt they would have let the property look like this when they were visiting. With the growing tourism, and this new high end neighbor tourist attraction being put literally in their front yard, it make no sense for Sheraton not to make this property the best it can be and at least match the photos it uses it it’s advertising (that are probably more than 10 years old. This property was a huge disappointment. While I would not recommend this hotel, I highly recommend visiting El Salvador and meeting the great people here and seeing all this country has to offer.

Covid protocols in place-temperature is taken upon entry. Good location to everything. Definitely an event location as a wedding and a quincenera was on the grounds on a Saturday night. Guinea fowl grace the pool area during the day. Rooms were standard for a Sheraton. Drink ticket allowed for a signature drink or non alcoholic beverage at the bar. Small parking lot.
