This is my fourth or fifth visit to this hotel which never disappoints. There are other newer hotels in San Salvador with nicer rooms that have more appliances and modern features, but this hotel continues to be the grand dame of hotels in this Capital city. It’s that place where families, groups and ministry officials meet for lunch or dinner. The photos and gold name plates of former presidents from around the world adorn the walls near the elevators. The restaurant serves up great meals morning, noon and night time. The pool and outdoor seating areas remain the highlight of any stay in this hotel. It’s much like a tropical paradise with palm trees, beautiful and amazing flowers, thatched roof sitting and dining areas and at least six Guinea chickens that surprise guests as they run around squawking! As a lap swimmer I count my strokes and this pool must be at least 25 meters wide with a shallow pool for children and it’s always kept clean.

The rooms are comfortable with flat screen televisions and modern bathrooms with glass doors and a lighted mirror. This old hotel could use a paint job and some concrete repair, but otherwise it’s a great place to meet, eat, drink a cold one and enjoy a good night’s sleep. The friendly front desk personnel wear suits and ties and most of them speak English as well as Spanish. They are always helpful and kind unlike other hotels with imposing people in dark suits. There are places in El Salvador that are not recommended for safe travel, but this area is definitely not one of them as I have walked around this area during the day or at night. Finally, it’s easy and convenient to use Uber for trips to local restaurants, malls or just the airport.

We enjoyed our stay at this excellent hotel when visiting San Salvador for the US-El Salvador World Cup Qualiying match . Classy place that has hosted several past US Presidents as displayed on the walls of the hotel. We had a large comfortable room. Modern bathroom with large walk in shower. Beautiful pool area. The comfortable La Terrazza Restaurant where we enjoyed a buffet breakfast each morning opens to the gardens and pool area. There is also a separate bar which was very inviting. The hotel is located in probably the nicest part of the city. Felt very safe walking around in the nearby area. Uber is easy to obtain and very inexpensive. The best part of our stay was the front desk. Very professional but also very welcoming. All were fluent in English. I decided at the last minute one morning to try to find a way to get up to Santa Ana Volcano. Without any hesitation, the receptionist at the front desk made a couple calls and within 30 minutes I was on my way to the Volcano on what turned out to be an excellent private tour. As others have pointed out, this is not strictly a business hotel. Many families and groups come here to celebrate. Friday night did get a bit louder with wedding groups staying at the hotel but things quieted down after midnight. There may be newer places to stay in San Salvador but it would be hard to match the history, classiness and atmosphere of the Sheraton Presidente.

This hotel stay was excellent. The room was comfortable and clean. There was a small tea/ coffee making service in the room which was nice. the staff was friendly and professional at check in, the bar and during breakfast. The breakfast had many options, pancakes waffles omelets and local options too. Fresh fruit and fresh juices. There were plenty of places to sit. The lobby and other areas had beautiful Christmas decorations. The hotel had several events during our stay but it was not busy or overcrowded.

I stayed here for a week in November 2022- never again. Unacceptably loud noise from parties until 2am on multiple nights during the week including week nights. We would revive a notification on the same day of the event with a “thank you for your understanding “…it’s dishonest that the hotel does not disclose these loud events when customers make their reservations. The staff’s solution to the fact that patrons couldn’t sleep due to the loud noise was to “see if there was another room available to move into”. As if moving across the hallway would make a difference. Plus, why should I have to move rooms at 10 o’clock at night?? Why not just turn down the volume a notch? Or if the hotel knows there will be parties why put anyone in the pool side rooms if you already know it will be too noisy.

Too many other good options, don’t waste your money staying here

Worn… very worn.
The hotel was built in 2005, and I am certain they didn’t do any upgrades since then. The tiles in the main hall and also around the pool are all cracked, the sun beds squeak when you move them and the furniture in the room feels like it’s from the last century.
Worst of all is the gym. You will find pictures online about their equipment, but when you get there, 50% of it is broken! The treadmill has the electronics ripped out and one of the Crosstrainers doesn’t work either. The second Crosstrainer makes funny noises, but works. The rest of the machines are rusting, some work, some don’t.
Oh, and the food: breakfast is extremely boring. And the food at the other restaurants for lunch and dinner is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Please don’t make the mistake and eat here, there are plenty of better restaurants in walking distance.
Over all: it might have been a great place 20 years ago, now it’s just and old bunker.

Positiv: the location is great.

I have been staying at this famous hotel for the past 7 years and have always enjoyed the large pool, the comfortable rooms, the good food and an attentive front desk and restaurant staff. It’s “famous” because of a long list of dignitaries including presidents who have stayed here, however the building desperately needs a facelift, a renovation. The paint is pealing and some of the exterior cement is cracking. Perhaps some of the tens of thousands of dollars collected from their very large and LOUD pool parties could be used for the renovation? In addition to the fading, cracked building exterior there are other infrastructure problems, especially the bathroom showers which fluctuate dramatically in pressure and temperature.

Covid protocols in place-temperature is taken upon entry. Good location to everything. Definitely an event location as a wedding and a quincenera was on the grounds on a Saturday night. Guinea fowl grace the pool area during the day. Rooms were standard for a Sheraton. Drink ticket allowed for a signature drink or non alcoholic beverage at the bar. Small parking lot.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly/helpful. Though the hotel is in need of an update, the bed in the room was comfortable. There were bars near/around the hotel that were playing very loud music until 3 am. The music could be heard from our room. The hotel was kind enough to move us to another room. It was marginally better, but the music could still be heard. The hotel needs to clean the bird feces from the pool lounge chairs on a daily basis.

My best friend and I stayed here recently and it was amazing. The room was clean, the hookah bar was convenient and everyone was so nice. They gave us great suggestions for places to eat and drink and always called us a cab. One night we got stuck out and we called them and they sent a cab to get us. They arranged our Covid test and all. We felt so safe and well taken care of. Free parking was a plus! I highly recommend and would absolutely stay again if ever in San Salvador. It’s close in distance to everything and just a quick 45 minute drive from the airport.

When I checked in, they knew full well that I am an ambassador status in the marriot programme. (This is the highest, after having achieved platinum life and titanium) still they did not have the usual suite upgrade for me, they actually gave me a room that you get as a walk in guest, except this was on the so-called club floor where the view is blocked from anything interesting. I gave them three days to correct my situation but not even a response from the managers. If you are on the marriot programme don’t bother staying here. It’s not near anywhere and you get treated poorly.

I would think so. They certainly did in September when I stayed there. They were doing temperature checks too.

If this is true we never heard that and we paid to upgrade to Club Level and they told us all of the benefits and that, to the best of my knowledge was not one of them, unless it is located inside the hotel, in which case with Club Level you have access to everything including free breakfast. Hope this helps.
