This place gives great value!
the rooms are very clean, decorated in simple clean lines and very comfortable.
The bed was a bit too hard, but fine and didn't affect our sleep.
The staff is amazing, went out of their way to help us rent a car on a sunday (when everything is closed), though they (like everyone else) don't speak much English. they also found out for us which buses go to Honduras, when, whats the price etc.
This place is also close to the central bus station.
I recommend this place very highly, with the only small down-side is that breakfast is small and not so good (but not bad either)- take the pancakes.

Good hotel with very nice rooms. Opened about 7 months ago. Not too far away from the old city center. The owner is very helpful. Only the continental breakfast is very poor and doesn't match to international standards.

I really cannot say enough good things about La Porta Plaza Hotel!
It is located in the city, but we felt safe both in the streets & within the complex's walls. There are only 12 rooms in the hotel, so the service is very personalized. All the meals were delicious & Cervesa is always on hand ;)
About half the staff speak at least a little English, so conversing was easy.
They would even walk us to a restaurant to help us translate & schedule cabs for us each day.
When I return to San Salvador, I will definitely be staying at La Porta Plaza Hotel :)

I stayed at La Porta Plaza hotel and i must say that this small boutique like hotel is amazing!!! The Staff there is very attentive to one's needs and they make sure you are very well taken cared of. Breakfast is included with the stay every morning and it was delicious, filling and simple. Also the mangoes from their trees are also very tasty; one can knock them down and they will peel them and cut them for you. The pool is small but that is fine for lounging in it. Dollar for dollar i have yet to find another hotel that matches up to this great gem.

I had a friend visiting El Salvador for the first time from the Dominican Republic and although I have a home about 35 minutes away from San Salvador, I wanted to have a convenient base from where to drive short distances from, so he could maximize his short stay and get to know the basic experiences El Salvador has to offer. We stayed for 1 night at the Courtyard Marriott but also wanted to experience a more home-like feel. The La Porta Plaza fit the bill. It's located very close to the El Salvador del Mundo plaza and monument...the GalerÃas mall and assorted restaurants where we could easily walk to. The grounds are beautifully kept...gorgeous lawn and garden area, pool and outdoor dining area. There is a comfy living room area where guests are encouraged to sit in deep and ample leather sofas and talk the afternoon away. Delicious traditional Salvadorean breakfast was included in our rate. We had a rental car which was securely parked in its small walled parking lot. I would gladly stay here again!

We (couple, 40 & 50 years old) stayed at La Porta Plaza Hotel for three nights in December 2013. We paid $65 a night which included a good breakfast. Our room was small but clean and modern; the beds were comfortable and the air-conditioning was good. The private bathroom was large and clean and the water was hot. The staff is helpful; they arranged transportation for us. The hotel is very nicely furnished and there is a swimming pool. It is like a business traveler’s hotel. It is located in a nice neighborhood and is within walking distance of banks, restaurants and shopping. We stayed at La Porta Plaza a second time when we returned to San Salvador.

I stayed in La Porta plaza hotel for 3 nights as I stayed in San Salvador as a base for exploring El Salvador.
The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was tasty. My room was quiet and located next to a garden which had a lovely view.
The room had a large lcd TV with many channels, quiet air conditioner, fridge, and the bathroom/shower worked great.
The location is very convenient as there was lots of food nearby in walking distance - street vendors and fast food such as McDonald's and Wendy's.
The hotel is a great value for the price and I highly recommend staying here. I would stay here again if I visit San Salvador.
