My wife, kids and other family members stayed at The Morrison de la Escalon this week and have nothing but great things to say about this small hotel. People were very accommodating and friendly, from the check in, to the ladies cooking and serving breakfast, they were made to feel welcomed and were treated like family. My kids and my wife have stayed at five star hotels in Mexico and stayed at the Presidente Intercontinental hotel in San Salvador before but they would prefer to stay at this small hotel next time they come to El Salvador. My family loved the location, they felt safe and loved the small home feel of the hotel. Gracias a todos los empleados que cuidaron de tan buen manera a mi familia. DHernandez

In general, what I like most about this hotel, which I have been visiting for many years when I travel to meet with my family and friends, is the attention, they are friendly, very professional and they try to make your stay as pleasant as possible, which It makes me feel comfortable and safe, it is also located very close to everything, the mall is about a 10 minute walk away, hospitals, clinics, banks and restaurants. Furthermore, if you want to celebrate an activity such as a birthday, or bring your whole family, the hotel has with a room with capacity for 80 people, they also have tours to different places that you want to visit, if you want to travel to this
nice country, look no further, Morrison Hotel with very affordable prices and breakfast included awaits you, a deeper cleaning of the room floors would be a plus, thanks to all the staff especially Ceci, Luis and Manuel, Marleen the receptionist-a , blessings

A very welcoming host set the tone upon arrival and the whole experience was faultless. Lovely room and well located in a decent neighbourhood. Fast Wi-Fi and a delicious breakfast supplied too. On the last night plans to go out for a meal were changed due to being too tired after a long day trekking around the city. This was a good move as a sudden storm of thunder, rain and lightning caused havoc for around an hour. This resulted in the room having some considerable water intrusion. The power went off as well for a couple of five minute intervals. The way the hotel dealt with the storm and the inconvenience to the room was excellent and they really went out of their way to rectify the situation. Without needing to, staff apologised several times for the incident However the weather Is definitely beyond their control. It was some of the severest weather I have seen in a short period. Well done to everyone at this warm hospitable hotel!!

There seems to be a very common theme with hotels in El Salvador. I'm not entirely sure why (perhaps to save on cost). But the bed sheets aren't changed. During my holiday this was the 2nd hotel where I stayed, where I kept finding hairs on the bed, which clearly weren't mine (I'm a balding male). The room was ok, very average. the toilet/bathroom was small and compact. But had a toilet roll dispenser and soap dispensers that you'd find in an office environment. The hotel itself seems ok in a reasonably ok area.

This is a nice budget hotel in good location of San Salvador. The hotel is very neat and clean. It provides all the basic requirements that one needs when staying away from the comfort of home. The staff in the front desk are really very helpful and cooperative. Even though they do not understand English, but they will try their best to understand your needs. One lady, named Ms Cecilia Molina, is really very very helpful. She speaks fluent English -- so if you come across to her, you will be fine. They helped me getting my airport transfer both ways. Also they helped me in arranging my trip to "Santa Ana de Volcan, Cerro Verde National Park". The hotel also provides breakfast of your choice from four different options.

Cannot imagine why anyone would want to search further than the Morrison Hotel. My husband and I recently spent 10 days at this wonderful hotel while helping our son relocate to San Salvador. We speak no Spanish but because of Gretchen, the hotel's manager, who speaks fluent English and Spanish, we were able to navigate through the city. Our son needed identification documents (which can be a difficult process in El Salvador) and Gretchen not only sent us to the right places, but copied and emailed a multitude of documents for our son to facilitate working thru this process. Gretchen's suggestion of taxi service turned out to be our salvation, as our driver Manuel (bi-lingual) was with us for almost the full ten days and assisted us in every way possible. Gretchen's restaurant suggestions were also great-one we frequented four times since it was only a few blocks from the hotel. Hotel Morrison was our first introduction to the sweetness and helpfulness of the people of El Salvador. The hotel staff (every one of them) went out of their way to assist us and to make us feel at home, and the hotel became our home away from home. The hotel is a former home, complete with beautiful furnishings. A highlight of our stay was the morning breakfast- we dined outdoors at their patio/pool area. The food was great-the menu with its photos (for those of us who do not speak Spanish!) was large and the start of every day was so positive and friendly. We also had food delivered two nights , as we were too tired to go out. Once again, the hotel staff helped us with the necessaries and cleanup. The "can do" attitude was so refreshing! If safety is a concern, you need not worry. The hotel is secured 24 hours a day and located in a safe and comfortable neighborhood. When I come back to San Salvador to visit my son, I may stay with him (and if so I will miss EVERYONE at the hotel), but I recommend Hotel Morrison without qualification.. This is a WONDERFUL place!

I am really glad I chose to stay here - it is small enough that you feel taken care of personally, but yet can have quiet and privacy when you choose. Also, as a traveler who speaks Spanish but is sometimes a bit limited, it was comforting to have bilingual owners Gretchen and Camilo. If you are new to El Salvador like I was, then this is a great starting-off point. You can also walk, closely and safely, to amenities - I had a pedicure a few blocks away, met some friendly local police, and grabbed snacks at the modern supermarket right around the corner. As a solo, female traveler, the fantastic security staff and good location make a big difference too. Added nice bonus: really gorgeous and creative art all over the walls, which capture your interest when you are just relaxing and hanging out. Ask about tours / rides & drop-offs etc too, because they are very amenable for this too. Cheers Camilo y Gretchen!
