Hemus is not an eye - candy and certainly falls short of Western hotel standards. Nevertheless, it's a decent place to spend a night or two in Sofia, centrally located, a few steps to the modern metro station and clean enough to get a proper sleep. Looked for bed bugs for half an hour, couldn't find any.

Stayed here for 3 nights in Feb 17. It's a 20-30 minute walk into the city centre. The room was ok, nothing special but not bad, small bathroom. Breakfast was a little disappointing but again, ok, not dreadful. The area itself seemed safe enough but is very old school, Communist era. Grey buildings, graffiti and cobbled streets. It was nice...

The room was dirty and filty. The receptionist overcharged me. The elevator was dodgy and the WiFi didn't work. I demanded to change room and floors and was transfered from floor 14 to floor 12, but it was the same, non-working and filthy rooms. Tried to demand all the money I had pre-paid to be refunded, but was denied it....

We stayed in Hemus in Sofia due to proximity to the metro. We chose the business suite, which had super view at the city center, but the room was really dirty and the clean services after the first night didn't even replace the used glasses.

15min walk from central, 10lev taxi ride. Right opposite a shopping mall & next to a casino. Major issues & wait times with lifts! Incompetent staff. Small rooms, smaller bathrooms! Oldskol tv as big an iPad! Horrible breakfast. Small bar in lobby. Good for stag.

Clean, tidy, small rooms. Soviet style building.... all very plain. The shower was tiny, shower head completely broken, so I had to pull the head off to avoid flooding the bathroom. Close to railway underground 'European Union' and a newer shopping mall with a Costa Coffee. Read reviews about bed bugs, but checked the bed carefully and didn't see any...

The reception, porter and lobby bar staff were all very friendly. I stayed here for 4 nights, not out of choice, but as part of an organisation. We were located to the 17th floor which is right under "Club Monkey" - so if you want to sleep early on Friday or Saturday, then forget it! You might as well go...

The location of this big hotel is very adequate: near to metro, bus, trolleybus or tramway stations. To the center cca. 6 minutes with a taxi. The restaurant is decent. But the rooms are very small; and the baths are terribly small, do not have room to move. The hotel must be closed and the space urgently restructured.

First i wish i couldnt give a zero rating. Upon arrival the receptionist was rude and "tutty" we were given our room which upon entering did have a lovely view of sofia but unfortunately the smell was so overbearing I wasted half a can of deodorant to mask it. Getting into bed after leaving the window open for 8 hours...
