Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
This hotel is ideally located to walk to the central (shopping) and old historic parts of the city. It is also a short walk from the coastal "rambla"cycle and promenade. Reasonably priced restaurant / bar and breakfast service - comes with 22% discount if you pay with a non-Uruguayan credit card (as do all restaurant in Uruguay). We had nice big room on an upper floor with views over the Rio de la Plata and the sunset (but only top floor rooms have balcony - you can access the rooftop terrace but there is not much there other than the view). Reception very helpful in organizing visits, taxis and bike hire (these are available on site). Only slight criticism was location of air conditioning in large rooms meant we didn't benefit from it in the sleeping area and, during a very hot spell, this was a problem. Would recommend staying here.

Comfortable and well located. The bed is great, as are the pillows. There is a sink in the room, which makes it easier if you order a delivery meal. The surroundings are deserted, but I didn't feel insecure when walking the streets, even at night. I recommend. Breakfast could be more affordable, but the entire city is expensive.

We chose the hotel to explore the old town of Montevideo and booked a room with a terrace overlooking the Palacio Salvo - great! Lots of space, the furnishings were modern and bright and sitting outside in the evenings above the rooftops of the city was great. The hotel is easy to reach from the bus station by taxi (the equivalent of around 7 euros) and its location, right around the corner from the historic center, makes it a perfect starting point for exploring the city. The breakfast buffet was also OK, and all of the staff (from the friendly reception to the room service and the restaurant staff) were incredibly friendly and helpful. We say thank you and can absolutely recommend the hotel.

The hotel is very close to the city center. Rooms are big and nice; keep the tiny reception from impressing you. The staff is quite distant and sometimes needs to be more adequate. I spent two days trying to open my security box in the room, and finally, I found it easy with the proper instructions, but receptionists omitted to give me such instructions. Breakfast is okay, and the staff in the cafe is accommodating. My only big complaint is the cleaning... I don't know if there is a lack of staff, but they do the cleaning very late and extremely quickly, which made me doubt the quality of the process. Towels are an issue; they are not changed even if you follow the instructions to have them changed. The gym is tiny but enough; there is no water or towels there.

Hotel with small but comfortable rooms. In my case, we are 2 adults and 2 minors, I had to reserve 2 rooms, since they do not have rooms or do not allow more than 2 people. Varied and abundant breakfast and generally attentive staff. Location in an area where homeless people circulate [quite a bit in MVD]. In my case, I rented a car and they did not offer me parking other than leaving it on the street in an area next to the hotel and the reception staff told me that I had to move it [to I don't know where] before 8 am, which was not necessary because it was Saturday. , there was no problem [said a sign on the street that charges Monday-Friday from 10 am]

The Hotel is Wonderful and Complete. Hotel, new, large room, with a mini kitchen, sink and microwave, spacious bathroom with good pressure in the shower. The hotel has a restaurant with great dishes, it's definitely worth it. I got the daily rate with breakfast which was worth it, because everything in Uruguay is much more expensive than in Argentina. Breakfast with many varieties and very plentiful. It is just a few steps from the central region such as the old city and new city. The area is not very busy at night. The room was very spacious, the bed and pillows were impeccable. If you can, get a room with a balcony to enjoy the sunset while drinking delicious wine or sparkling wine.

I liked my room - modern style, lots of space, and with all the normal facilities. It was clean, too. Unfortunately there are just simple windows and there are many buses and and mopeds passing and it's too noisy even upstairs.
The breakfast was not included but I took it on both mornings because it was of good quality and enough choice. Considering the price level in Montevideo, it was not so expensive.
They also mention renting bicycles but when I tried to rent one, it turned out that they only had one with bad brakes and almost flat tyres and with no tools to adjust it.
The area looks a bit shady. I didn't have any problems, but it's not so nice to go out in the evening.

The hotel is centrally located, two blocks from Avenida 18 de Julio, Palacio Salvo and Plaza Independencia. The room was spacious, with excellent natural and artificial lighting, comfortable bathroom (some careless details in the shower), complimentary coffee and tea service and safe. The window is not soundproof so you can hear the noise of the street; on Friday night the music and the bustle of a local in the vicinity would not let rest. The front desk operates 24 hours a day and the American Bar provides on-site care and roo service until midnight, with a varied menu and good quality food. Breakfast is served there, very complete and varied. The uncomfortable thing is having to book in advance the breakfast schedule, due to the limited space. The lobby is very small, with just a three-body armchair. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The balance is very positive, except as noted and clarifying that it does not correspond to the standards usually associated with a 4-star hotel.

During the days I spent at the hotel, there were some situations that need to be highlighted, although not all of them were directly the responsibility of the hotel. First: on a Friday to Saturday night, there was a show, and sleep was impossible, we were awake all night, when the show ended, sleep came, it was time to go have breakfast, because the hotel asked for a time at check-in, so you can schedule your breakfast, something new for me, I have never stayed in a hotel with this type of requirement, not in Brazil or in other countries. Vacation is for rest, in a situation like this, it can stress a person. Secondly: I didn't have breakfast one morning, there was an accident in the restaurant, I believe that a lot of people remained, the most important thing is that the employee was fine. Third: on the days I stayed at the hotel, I didn't find any employee who spoke the slightest bit of Portuguese, given the number of Brazilians I saw at the hotel, at least some of them could have spoken a little. When checking in, the hotel gives you a piece of paper written in Portuguese. Room: the hotel restaurant is small, but very charming, pleasant ambient music, a good breakfast: bread, fruit, yogurt, juices and others. Fifth: room cleaning, room service, bath, very good. Hotel staff, so attentive, although in Spanish speaking. Its geographic location is excellent.

Not a very impressive entrance, and even less so as you enter the tiny plain reception. And you wonder, a mistake? But the room is actually quite good, a nice size balcony room, tv, a/c, good WiFi, tea and coffee, fridge and a safe. All very clean and comfortable, it looks newly renovated flooring and painted. Except one wall and the shower floor unit could do with a good clean, so a bit hit and miss. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast is very pleasant, and we had a good well priced meal there. Buffet breakfast was the normal cereals, cheeses, cold meats, bread and a good choice of cakes with juice and tea and coffee. Centrally located for easy walking to the old city.

Hello, there is an underground garage just up the street where they direct you to, and there's a small extra charge. I parked there and had no issues, although exiting was a little tricky unless you have someone to watch for pedestrians. I didn't so had to be careful nobody darted in front of the car as I came out.

I am not certain. The hotel does not seem to offer this possibility, but I think that contacting the hotel directly would be your best approach to sort this out. They are very responsive to emails as well.
Dear Jenny, we do have hair dryers in all of our rooms. Regarding the laundry, we offer a dry cleaning service, but we do not have a laundry facility in the hotel for the guests to use. There is also a laundry store alf a block from the hotel. Kind regards. Emanuel
