Althought the common area is new, clean and very tastefull...the rooms are not as good. The room is very old so it' a little bit beat up by the time. Also, i had very bad allergies in the room, the courtains were very dusty and made me survive on allergy medicine.

But the staff are very well trained and nice! And the breakfest is absolutelly delicious!!

The staff was warm and welcoming and was able to communicate with us even though our Spanish is extremely limited. The facilities were great even though we didn't stay long enough to really take advantage of them. The view of the water was fabulous. The bed was comfortable and inviting after a long day of traveling. I look forward to staying at the Hotel Cottage Carrasco again on future trips.

The hotel is quite recommendable for the conditions in Uruguay. The rooms are clean and everything works. Likewise, the breakfast is really good. What is not good, however, are on the one hand the rooms that are oriented to the Rambla Republica De Mexico. The single glazed windows give you the feeling of sleeping in the middle of a busy street. Another criticism: I had ordered a shuttle to the airport at 8:30 am. I was downstairs five minutes before the time. According to the lady at the front desk, the car - which was from the hotel - was supposed to be on time, it wasn't. First I was told to wait five minutes. After a delay of 15 minutes then supposedly another three minutes and then several times "in one minute he is there". In the end, he was 30 minutes late. This is especially critical when you have to wait at the time of the morning departure wave at the airport customs an hour…

Although it has been over a year since having breakfast at the Hotel Cottage, the food and the level of service has clearly declined. Even though it used to be a bit on the pricey side, I considered it a high-quality breakfast in a great location with a really nice view of the sea. Unfortunately, this has changed drasically.
The hotel is in dire need of some maintance and TLC and the quality of the food has substantially declined since my last visit which was over a year ago.
After having breakfast, I stopped in the men's bathroom and it smelled absolutely terrible and had I done this before eating, I would have left immediately without eating.
Sorry...

Service friendly as much as the attention at the reception. Covid measures in place. Room cleanliness
non existent. The place need plumbing and gives the impression to sleep next to a sewage facility. The rooms are filthy and dirty. The windows need isolation, the curtains need to be change. No minibar. NO isolation of the rooms whatsoever, you cannot sleep. The place which has an excellent location needs serious infrastructure investments to be done in order not to become a trap for guests

Great folks, not enough people understood English, but we made it through.
There could be a bit more variety in the menu. The rooms and beds were very clean and well attended. It was a great stay and I would book again.

I had to stay here for a conference. It is so dirty, the bathroom smells, the sheets have stains on them. It is far to everything!!! I have tried to look for another hotel to move to in the region and there was not one with rooms available due to the conference. I would definitely stay away, you are better off camping in the beach.

A woman at the tourist office recommended this place because I asked for something nearby and cheap. The price in January 2007 was only 350 pesos, or about US$14. The rooms are simple, and only come with antenna TV. Rooms that face the street are bright but noisy during the day. Rooms in the back have windows that open to a large ventilation shaft, and rooms higher up would be brighter than the dark one I had on the first floor. What makes this place great is the family that runs it. The whole family works here, both in the hotel and the restaurant, and they are super nice people. This is a cheap hotel, but they don't allow couples to check in for a couple of hours, so they keep it nice. Free
simple breakfast in the morning. Just a block off the main street. Just don't go in expecting much and you'll be OK, as it's really a place for someone on a backpacker's budget who wants a private room and bath. The mattresses and sheets are nice here.

The renovations are well done; the lobby and other public areas are very nice. However, if you enjoy such modern conveniences as fast internet, alarm clock, room directory, hotel phone, iron or ironing board, or temperature control, you had best look elsewhere. My room has broken light bulbs, water pressure issues, and when I called down for an iron and ironing board, they came up with an iron, but said that they don't have any ironing boards. They said they don't have any in the hotel at all. Also, dinner service starts at 8 pm, but should start earlier to accommodate the varied eating time of foreigners. There is free wi-fi in the rooms, but it is so slow that it took me 10 hours to download a 14 MB file. Also, staff are generally rude and very arrogant. I don't know if there is room service because there is no literature in the room, and I had to go down to the reception to ask them how to dial out of my room and how to dial them since the phone gives no instructions. There is temperature control in the room, but you can't switch from heat to cool, which is problematic in change-over seasons like now when they have it on heat and it's so hot in the room that I want to turn on the cool air. I can open the (broken) window in the day, but at night the noise from the street is too loud to keep it open.

So, while looking good on the outside, this hotel lacks basic modern "stuff" and the staff is generally dismissive and arrogant. I recommend staying instead at the Hotel Regency, which is closer to downtown Carrasco and where the staff are friendly and they have the "basics" down.

I have spent a lot of time at this hotel and first reviewed it many years ago. Unfortunately, it keeps getting worse, and I won't be going back. Let's do a short pro's and con's list.

Pro's
- Walking distance to shops and restaurant (about 15 minutes by foot)
- Looks modern and fresh. They recently finished major renovations.
- Cheaper than other hotels in this area

Con's

- Internet doesn't work. I am a business traveler and getting online is critical for me. They claim that they have internet, but I cannot get it from any room I am in. I have two Apple devices and one Toshiba laptop and the only place I could work from was the café, where it would disconnect all the time and I would tell them to reboot the router ALL THE TIME. One night the internet in the café didn't work either. No one could get any work done and people were very frustrated. The next day I was informed that they are installing fiber optic internet and that "soon" it will be fixed. But they have been "fixing" the internet there for years and I have no faith that this will be resolved. If you are a leisure traveler and don't need to be online or have a roaming / local cellular data plan for your phones and computer, you might be fine. But if you are a business traveler and having a fast and reliable connection is important, then this is not the place for you.

- Breakfast food is very limited and not fresh. They don't seem to make fresh fruit salad every day, for example...the fruit looks soggy, faded and tastes fermented. And they don't use different serving utensils for meat and other items (bad for us vegetarians).

- Breakfast area is narrow and can be crowded / tight and they don't keep up with refreshing used spaces so it can be hard to find a clean place to sit.

- Water pressure in my room is consistently so low that I cannot wash my hair under the shower head, which are those "rainforest" heads. I have to run the bath spout and lie under it to wash and rinse my hair. This is in pretty much all rooms I have been in.

- Hair dryer only has one level - very low. Bring your own if you can.

- The public restrooms next to the lobby stink like sewage all the time.

- No alarm clocks in the rooms.

There are more con's but those are the main ones. They did a nice job on the renovations, but the hotel is still not meeting many basic standard levels in many areas and will need to make major changes if it wants to keep up with other new hotels right in the same area.

Buen Viaje.
