Hotel B is known in Lima like a cradle of privilege and luxury, but I found that apart from
Its beautiful interior it didn’t have that much to offer, in other words, its exorbitant prices are hardly justified. Yes, the atelier rooms are rather pretty and filled with interesting artworks, but the food is less than mediocre, which is unforgivable in the city where the culinary skills have been elevated to the level of art. I found many items in the “free” breakfast/brunch not only unappealing but even inedible (for instance the so called caprese appetizer). The massage in the room was 3 times more expensive than a regular massage, which is expected, but it lacked quality. The $25 massage at a regular spa was much more pleasant. So basically what I am trying to say that there was not much quality control and a lot of reliance on the property’s attractiveness like some beautiful people have good bone structure but alas little substance.

Stopped in for coffee Left with a most Memorable Experience! A local friend recommended afternoon coffee at the hotel, a lovely, historically grand spot in the artsy Barranco sectio of Lima. My family was a bit tired from exploring shops and galleries as we slipped into the wooden bar scene complete with a large, interesting, cabaret-style jazz scene hanging on the bar wall. Each member of the band shares the same eye pattern which is used for the colorful bar coaster. Thinking espresso and dessert, we did not anticipate palette drift; however, the afternoon menu presentation proved irresistible and we quickly persuaded ourselves to sample several small plates - to our immense delight!! The Carpaccio de alcachofas (sliced hearts of artichoke) was delicate perfection and the Ceviche pesca del día outstanding with pureed sweet potato garnish! The wait staff was impressive, especially our server, Miguel! His attention to detail, knowledge of the menu and commitment to our enjoyment was truly remarkable! And yes, the coffee and desserts are wonderful! Don't miss out on this 5-Star culinary opportunity.

Loved my stay at Hotel B. The hotel exudes elegance and staff throughout the hotel make sure you are well taken care of. I asked for a room in the older section of the hotel. The room and surrounding hallways showed a bit of their age, but overall felt sumptuous. High ceilings, lots of molding, cushy furnishings. The room and bathroom were spotless, and so quiet and comfortable I had no trouble sleeping despite jet lag. The included breakfast and tea were delicious and expansive. Airport transfers scheduled by the hotel for me were seamless. The hotel is well-located in the Barranco neighborhood, with lots to see within walking distance (Central restaurant, Bridge of Sighs, art galleries, shopping, grocery store). I would stay here on a return visit.

What a place! The ultimate definition of “sense of destination” and Lima’s only Relais & Châteaux hotel.

We booked just one night (big mistake) as part of the last stop on an amazing couples’ trip, to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu, and it was supposed to be just a stopover, to rest before returning home. What an amazing surprise it was, especially because my partner happens to be an architect and a lighting designer.

This hotel is a true Belle Époque jewel, designed by architect Claude Sahut in 1914, who was also responsible for some of the most iconic buildings, mansions and public spaces in Lima, such as Palacio de Gobierno (Peruvian Government Palace), Palacio Arzobispal (Palace of the archbishop), Prefectura de Lima (Mayor’s Office Building), some of the most elegant private homes in the city and, Parque de La Reserva, one of his masterpieces and a relevant witness to the history of the city and the country. Claude Sahut represents to Lima what McKim, Mead & White represent to New York City. As I said, true “sense of destination.”

The mansion’s superb renovation and impeccable taste of the overall design, match perfectly the elevated level of service offered by Hotel B’s staff. Every member of this property works hard to deliver a very professional, yet warm service. Actually, I don’t think that they work hard at this, as the delivery of their service looks so genuine and effortless.

To me, personally, the private collection of works by local and Latin-American contemporary artists, splendidly curated throughout the public spaces and rooms, was the most memorable part of the experience.

The location is quite unique. Barranco is one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Lima, physically in front of the Pacific Ocean. The hotel is within walking distance (or a short car ride) to a variety of first-class shopping and dining options, as well as art galleries and museums.

I cannot wait for our next trip to Lima and to Hotel B.

Jose Mauricio Montoya

Loved this property so much: gorgeous rooftop deck with fabulous cocktails; amazing breakfast spread with loads of non-breakfast items like beef stroganoff, olives, salmon, goat cheese whips, etc. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the ceilings heights are enormous, making a smaller room feel bigger. Beware the Aposento category, however, and ask for one of the larger ones. You pay up for a big room but they vary widely in size and you might get one that feels like a standard, though you will get a king bed. The art is spectacular--you could spend a day just wandering the halls and public spaces looking at some truly great contemporary pieces. I loved everything about this hotel and would love to go back! Especially for a Chingon cocktail on the roof. Divine!

We arrived very late at night and we appreciated the staff getting us checked in quickly. We were also given a welcome postcard and a little pouch with some masks and alcohol, which was very sweet. However, I had requested two separate beds online and when we arrived to the room, there was only one king. The staff separated it for us, but it took a good 30 minutes to do so. The artwork in the hotel is absolutely lovely and I enjoyed looking at the pieces. Breakfast was included and the food was delicious, but the service was extremely slow. I understand that many people simply come to the rooftop restaurant for brunch, but we were travelers with an itinerary, so it was a bit inconvenient to wait that long for some food before heading out the door. All in all, we liked the hotel.

Stayed 2 nights at Hotel B on the front end of a trip through Peru. First impressions were the hotel is situated in a beautiful colonial mansion and they've done a great job renovating the spaces and rooms to fit the overall style and decor of the area and building.

One caution to future guests is that because the hotel is built in an old mansion, it is VERY loud and lacks and any soundproofing. We could hear full conversations right outside our room clear as day, including every person closing their door, coming off the elevator, and the street traffic through the single pane windows. This meant interrupted sleep on both nights we were there, which was frustrating.

Rooftop bar is great, though inconsistent on service (half the time it was closed with no explanation, the other half they had very slow service).

Overall it's a nice hotel in terms of design, but they could invest a little in making it quieter and more private in the rooms.

This Relais & Chateaux old mansion is in the heart of Barranco (Lima) had been completely renovated to perfection. Combines luxury, decoration, art and good taste. Our room was on the 1st level and there was art everywhere (it's an art gallery!). Everything is taken care of to the last detail, from the Check in on the ground floor, the restaurant, the terrace, the breakfast, everything is tasteful and excellently well attended. The sea is just one block away and the sunsets are incredible! The best restaurants in Lima are all very close (and the concierges are always taking care of getting a place ;) The staff is incredible, leaded by their GM Maria Jose who is always attentive to all the details. Thanks to all the team at this Great Hotel with Soul in Lima, we will be back!!

We went with my husband for dinner for our anniversary.
The service was brillant. We were adviced wisely on what to choose from the menu and super well attended.

The food was perfect. We had a pizza with goat cheese, tiradito and dessert with chirimoya. Piscos were perfectly dosed not too strong.

I regret not to have booked a room. The decoration on and the art are amazing. Next time we will.

I had stayed at the hotel before and used the bar and restaurant around 4-5 years ago. This time I decided to try the roof terrace which must be a new addition and what a fantastic addition that is. My wife and I sat and watched a beautiful sunset sipping a nice cocktail. When the sun went and it got a little chilly there were lovely alpaca blankets to keep us warm. We were going to eat downstairs but as the hotel wS almost completely empty decided to stay on the roof. The food was excellent I cannot think of anyway to could be improved. I had an octopus starter which was the best cooked octopus I have ever eaten. All our courses including the chocolate desert were top class. Congratulations Chef and team. It’s a shame to see what was once a cool buzzing bar and hotel so empty and so lose a bit of atmosphere :( The drinks service at first was a little slow, there were only 10 people on the roof. There was also the construction of a new bar going on, until 7.30pm! It was a little noisy. I hope to return to use the roof again. And as always the art everywhere is fantastic.

Dear Matt, Nothing makes us happier than to see our guests return to Hotel B after many years. Unfortunately, due to government restrictions, we are unable to host large gatherings and maintain a limited forum per area. Nevertheless, we love that you enjoyed the food and will pass on your compliments to the chef. You will also be happy to learn that we have just finished all renovations at our Rooftop, giving more open spaces for our guests to enjoy the new bar and breathtaking sunsets over the sunset. We hope to welcome you very soon again. Sincerely, Maria Jose Gueudet Hotel Manager
