I loved this hotel! It is superbly located if you want to be within walking distance of all the historic sites. It is a luxury hotel from the 1930s, now a bit faded but filled with romance. If you want the anonymous sterility of a modern 5-star hotel, this is not for you. But if you like a touch of...

I booked the "Grand" Bolivar based the tripadvisor reviews and the price. From the outside and the location on one of Lima's major plazas, I was expecting something special. Entering the main door into the rotonda lobby was kind of creepy but still grand. The nearby front desk behind an antique charm was manned by three pleasant enough clerks who...

The Bolivar is a huge building that was built to accomodate heads of state in the twenties. Located un San Martin Square (bring your earplugs) in Old Downtown Lima, not a thing has been changed (except a few lightbulbs) since then, including the lifts, the fittings, even the original leather waste baskets are still there. We got a "room" overlooking...

My friends, family and I arrived around 2:30am, they where very courteous and willing to help on any matter. Kind of slow to get requests, but nice people and helpful. We got our reservations through agoda.com which is just a standard 2 single beds option. We had 3 rooms, my husband and my daughter shared one, they came to my...

If you want the Hyatt or Hilton style of modern confort, this is not for you. If you want an immemorable time journey, it is. Built in the 1920´s it must have been state of the art, not just for Peru but in comparison with Paris, New York etc. The great thing is, little har changed, except that they have...

For $27 (from 1800hotels.com), this hotel is a great value. It's definitely past its prime, but we found that charming. It was reasonably clean, our bathroom had a bidet, the lobby is gorgeous, and the front desk was not very helpful. There's free internet in the lobby. A great choice for the budget traveler who is willing to rough it...

this was a delight to find. the rooms are large with quality period furniture somewhat like a set from an agatha christie film. the bathroom entirely period but everything works fine . the hotel has character in spades and its shortcomings are very easy to to adjust to .we dined in the restaurant and whilst the service was slow the...

If you want the plush luxury of a Sheraton then this hotel is not for you. I booked this incredibly cheap hotel to offset the cost of my stay at the Machu Picchu Lodge and was braced to expect some squalor. On arrival I immediately realised that I had made a discovery. It's a little shabby in places and a...

I only had one night here, found it on an Irish site before I went to Peru, Great value, excellent large room, with sitting room, bed room, walk in closet, small hallway too. Great views also. Still cannot believe the small price I paid for it. Its a pity I only had 1 night - so judging this is a...
