On a two-night business trip to Lima, I wanted a location close to the historic district, so I could walk around during my limited time off. I like historic properties, so I chose the Gran Hotel Bolivar, being wiling to compromise on amenities. Upon arrival,...More
Nice, old style hotel in the real heart of Lima. And actual its location and style (end of XIX I think - also the rooms) was what I liked the most. It makes your visit to Lima more.. exotic. Bathroom – also old style -...More
I visited this hotel on a stop-over from Amsterdam to Santiago de Chile. It truly is a grand hotel, from the glass dome that you enter the hotel through, to the Ford Model T, natural stone hallways and restaurant. Yes, the hotel might be past...More

As long as you settle your bill early in the day I think it is fine. There is always someone at the front desk though you may have to bang on the bell to get someone's attention. I arrived early for my room 10 AM. They made me wait until 2 PM before giving me a room, which was of very low quality. It faced the center ventilator courtyard that made a loud motorized noise. They did not give a higher quality room until 5 PM facing the streets, which had incredibly loud street noise. Even my trusty earplugs could not muffle the noise.

"Get room facing inside of the hotel for less street noise."
