We spent 5 nights at Hostal Monarca and enjoyed it , The staff were very helpful. Speaking some spanish helps. The rooms were spacious and the daily breakfast was quite nice. Some of the rooms can be noisy. The Hostal is well located and the price of a room is very reasonable.

We loved this hostal! The room was superclean, the shower superhot, the staff superfriendly and the buffet breakfast amazing (fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bread, cheese, etc.)! And near the centre too. Would absolutely recommend this place.

Been in this hostel (that looks more like a hotel since has no dorms) for 3 nights, and the care of the staff are beyond the charts. You get a warm shower (required in cusco at this season), nice beds and privacy. The breakfast is OK and feels good to chill on the balcony. We were misfortuned to travel off... More

I was there in early October 2013 and outside was around 5'C and stayed there for three nights. In my room everything was perfect, small radiator was even to much. On the other hand my friends were freezing so they change the room to the first floor with view and then they enjoy it. Same was with hot water. I... More

Hostal Monarca was built within the old Cusco block. So, if you want to walk to Plaza de Armas through the stoned streets and "feel" the Cusco experience this is a decent place to stay as prices are very reasonable. Service was very efficient and the included breakfast was great and a must during the busy Cusco schedule. I got... More

Having needed some emergency accommodation, This hotel filled our needs perfectly. No lack of running, hot, water. Breakfast was good, remember that it is included in the price. Free internet. It is good value for money if that is what you are looking for.

They claim its a 3 start hotel but it dated, dirty and lacks water. Stayed for 2 nights here, payed $60p/n, 20th and 31st Dec. The room has crapets which smell bad, the bathroom was ok sizewise but most of the time, there was no water, the breakfast was terrible. And on the 31st, the hotel staff started playing extremely... I would have to agree with some other reviewers... "Is this the worst hotel in Peru" ? Where does one start ? "24 hour hot water" - we were lucky to get any water out of a tap let alone anything hot, tepid warm was the closest - we've had better in a camp site. "Se we have WiFi Senoire"... More

We recently spent 4 nights in the Hostel Monarca on our trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu. The people at the desk spoke English and were helpful in making calls to the US. We happened to have a room on the street side where cars continually honked at the corner starting early in the morning. No need for an alarm... More

This was the worst hotel in Peru I have have been. There are rooms that are very noisy because drivers like to blow a horn at the corner. There are others without window. I could alomost not breeth in the night. The breakfast was very very poor. They serve a so called "orangejuice" in fact orange sugar water.
