My husband and I stayed at La Gruta. We were supposed to spend two nights there, but due to weather difficulties we only spent one night. At first the hotel was having trouble with their hot water, but they got that resolved and the shower was good. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff was very...

We are a couple currently living in Bolivia and planned a three week Christmas vacation with our parents in the South of Peru using Trip Advisor as a guiding tool. We stayed at hotel La Gruta in Arequipa over New Years. The hotel is set in a lovely quiet suburb, a short walk away from the centre through a nice...

Very nice, small charming place to stay. This hotel is about a mile from downtown Arequipa, but don't let this deter you from staying here. Quite the contrary. Rather than be choked by the taxi smog or kept awake by the inner city bustle; this quaint retreat is tucked away in a safe, residential neighborhood just off a beautiful park...

We recently stayed at La Gruta in Arequipa (Peru). It is a small and very friendly hotel in a very quiet, upscale area. The owner, George Orams, is a warm and congenial host who took great interest in our visit to Arequipa. He and the staff were most solicitous and took great care of us.

“Peruvians are short people. Therefore their beds are a little on the shorter side. My husband and I shared a double bed, but because we are so tall (and the bed so short) it was a little tight. No problem though - it was snuggly. There is no AC or heat, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I think that is typical for Peru anyway.”
