So many things to like!! Low cost/good value; excellent breakfast (eggs-cellent!); very reliable WiFi (we stayed in room #10 and had a strong signal every day in our room every day); steady hot water shower any time I needed it; "Mirador" = glassed-in look out room at top of the hostal = AWESOME!; friendly and helpful staff who helped us... We stayed just for one night, the room itself was ok, large and the bed was adequate. The bathroom was very dated and not particularly clean. Generally the hostel is pretty run down. We were aware of this when booking but were prepared to give it a go due to the following reasons: according to booking.com it had a kitchen,... More

La Casa Tolena is a very nice place to stay when in Quito. First of all, the people working here is very friendly and offers great service - from helping us with getting around to shuttle to the bus terminal. Second, the room was spacious, tidy and of course they have a great view in the top floor!

We only had one night at this place but it was really nice. Huge spacious rooms (we had a private bathroom, bit fancy) and the rooftop bar has an incredible view of Quito. The staff were great. Close to shops and cheap food. The area can get a little loud but you're in the city so that's to be expected!

It's a cute hostel located in Centro Historico. I know Quito has made a lot of effort in recent years to make Centro Historico more secure but honestly I did not walk around after dark. I twice went to eat at a place that was one block away around 8pm and even then, as a single woman, I didn't feel... More

It was cheap, and I've nothing bad to say about it. Staff were friendly, hot water was properly hot (both in terms of the shower and the free tea), and the room was clean. You might have to ring the bell a couple of times if returning late at night as the front door gets locked - though we were... More

I stayed this hostel in December 2013. The building is old and has lots of character. For a budget option it's quite clean and comfortable and roomy. I never felt unsafe walking from the hostel to area restaurants at night, and it's a quick walk down hill to Quito's beautiful old city. However, the owners are the best reason to... More

I can't recommend staying in the Centro historico. It is miserable, dark and busy but not in the good way. There are limited food options and pretty much no nightlife that you want to be a part of... With that disclaimer, I will say that this is a gem. The location is a 5 min walk to the centro which... More

Then this is the place to be - only problem being is that the centre is dead at night so trying to even to find places to eat is hard but there's Tim Pollo right opposite this place to grab a cheap albeit unhealthy bite. There's also a bakery opposite Tim Pollo. Everything is alright with this place. Just note... More
