We stayed here for three nights prior to a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Most hotels in Quito appear to be located in the heart of the modern city. We wanted to stay in the World Heritage-designated historic part of the city, where there are fewer hotel choices. Based on reviews here and from other sites, we settled on Casa...

the govt. of Ecuardor did a fantastic job of restoring this beautiful mansion once occupied by one family. Too bad we didn't get a chance to spend too much time there. we checked in at 2pm, had a quick lunch in the courtyard and left on a city tour. the restaurant is expensive (a club sandwich cost US$17). the rooms...

Casa G is a boutique hotel in the middle of Quito's pretty old town. We stayed there and were warmly welcome as a gay couple. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a lush garden. We stayed in Terrace II which has a view across the Old Town and of the surrounding mountains leading up to the Virgin Statue. The breakfast...

Difficult to put into words what we think about this hotel as excellent, superb etc don't seem adequate to describe our visit to the Casa Gangotena. Gorgeous renovation of a family palace on a principal plaza of Quito. Rooms were magnificently done, perfect service, and the restaurant is delicious. Be SURE to get to the roof to enjoy views of the city in every light, and Cotopaxi if you're lucky to get a super clear day!

Unfortunately we were only there one night before heading to Mashpi Lodge, but it is hands down the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms are huge, with vaulted ceilings, and the restaurant is top notch. Don't miss tea time! Great attractions right out the front door, with plenty to see on foot.
