If you are looking for something authentic with a great (if not the best) view in town and with the possibility to have personal contact with the owner (in Spanish though), Claudio, passionate on his country and the history of how he made this great place an hotel, well this place is for you ! We passed our weekend with my wife at this great antique hotel and had a great time. Walking distance from great restaurants and atractions. The owner was always present and focused in giving great service. Awsome breakfast in a terrace with a beautiful view of valparaiso bay. Very quiet and pleasant stay!

I can't say enough about SH. The staff was extremely helpful and were willing to work with our flexible schedule--early check-in and late check-out. The breakfast was very good with only the freshest fruits. The best thing about SH is the view. Also, it is about a 10 minute walk to many restaurants. It is up in Cerro Alegre and...

Great views of the harbor, fun to walk to different places from the hotel or take advantage of the mini-bus stop right there at the hotel. Very nice breakfast and wonderful and helpful staff. The staff is always around very helpful for any questions

Great location, with an amazing view of the harbour. Small, but clean rooms and lovely staff. There are a lot of stairs, so keep that in mind when bookings. From Sutherland House we were able to walk to Pablo Neruda's historical home and to the downtown core, though I would suggest taking a taxi instead. Wish we could have stayed...

Stayed here twice now. Both times the owner has been around and very friendly. You get a welcome drink to enjoy when you arrive. Good clean room. Great friendly service, and the owner has 3 or 4 secure car spaces which is always a bonus in Valparaiso. We stayed in 201 which has a lovely balcony overlooking the city and...

Noisy floor hotel with small rooms, a lot of stairs without elevator, and no garage! At the moment of check in, the owner told us to leave the car on the front door that he would park it later that night on his garage. I gave him the car Keys. He gave us a lot of chat at that time,...

- Beautiful property located high up on the hill, meaning that you will walk downhill towards all of the attractions (which is convenient!) and a short taxi ride back up at the end of the night. -Staff was warm and welcoming, going out of their way to make sure we knew where to go, what to eat, what we had...

I stayed here for a night with my girlfriend in February 2015 and we loved it. We had room 302, with an amazing view of the bay and the hills. The staff was very helpful - they made us fresh eggs in the morning and greeted us with a welcome drink which we enjoyed on the patio overlooking the city....

My friends and I stayed in Valparaiso for a few days. Our first night was in a hostel Verde Limon, which is in the party area...great area but too loud. So we stayed at Sutherland for 2 nights which is not too far but defintely in a much quiter area up in the hill on Cerro Allegre. The hotel is...
