We had a most pleasant stay here. The reception staff (particularly Paloma) was extremely friendly and helpful, providing maps for us to explore of Valparaiso, and suggesting nearby eating places. Breakfast was included and the wait staff were very earnest in remembering our coffees each morning - a nice touch. Our room on the second floor, was well appointed and...

Small boutique hotel in the best part of Valparaiso. The rooms are comfortable and simply appointed. This hotel won't suit everyone, there are no TV's, the timber floors creak, there is heating but no air-conditioning and there is some noise between the rooms. I thought this all added to the charm. The simple continental breakfast set us up well for...

We checked in to this hotel for 2 nights. Beautifully located and the building itself is lovely. Hotel staff are professional and very helpful, their recommendations on restaurants in the area were very good. The staff even lugged our bags to the top floor before we could ask for help! A great location to explore Valpo on foot, lots to...

Although we arrived in Valparaiso on New Year's Day- imagine coming home to find your teens had a huge party- Hotel Acontraluz was wonderful. Hotel Acontraluz provided an oasis of comfort following our overnight flight from Florida. We spent two nights at this enchanting hotel in Valparaiso and were so glad we chose it for our first visit to this cruise port on the Pacific. Greeted by the highly competent manager Paloma and her very helpful staff Paula and Natalie, we were immediately made...

The owner (we were told) is a former film director and the light and airy ambience of this lovely hotel, combined with fabulous views from the terrace on the 3rd floor and central location, make the Alcontraz a near perfect place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and common areas spacious and decorated with some lovely paintings and other artefacts....

My husband and i arrived here after a long haul flight from amsterdam. It was a home away from home with a picture perfect view of the pacific and the hills. At night it was like being amidst a hill of lanterns. Great access to restaurants. Breakfast is superb, ask for scrambled eggs. The staff were very helpful, especially karin...
