I stayed for one night at the Luna Sonrisa. I had a double room, which was airy and spotless, with its own bathroom which was also very clean if basic. The hostel is a convenient location, easy to walk down into the town or to the Pablo Neruda house and the owners could not be more helpful, with maps, ideas...

We stayed 4 nights in this hostel, and liked it very much. It's situated on the Cerro Alegre, one of the most beautiful areas of Valparaiso. The neighbourhood is very arty, with nice cafés and restaurants within 10 minutes' walking. The dorm was quite simple, but nicely separated into an upper and lower part (sort of a mezzanine), so that...

Perhaps the best little hostel I have ever stayed in. Only 6 rooms, 5 doubles and a single, and a 5 bedded dorm room. All rooms a good size with very high ceilings making them feel very airy. Hostel is always spotlessly clean and well maintained. Excellent breakfast and a self catering kitchen. 2 lounge areas with comfortable seating.

We visited Luna Sonrisa after staying the previous night at Hostal Nomades down the street. It was like night and day. Sonrisa lacked the art, personality and funkiness of Nomades. It is located in the Cerro Alegre neighborhood, a few blocks away from Nomades. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who spoke English (she was originally from the...

I stayed for four nigths in the single room. The hostel is in a good location up on Cerro Alegre, and all of the staff I met were wonderfully friendly and helpful. There's a decent breakfast and excellent wifi plus you can also get washing done. The kitchen is fine to cook in if you want to do your own...

This hostel has superb breakfasts as the owners un a nice little bakery. Best breakfast in Chile. The hostel was a nice size and the rooms were lovely, and each had somewhere safe to store your belongings. There isn;t a curfew but the hostel try to make sure guests pipedown after 11pm, so if you're looking for a party house...

I rolled up to Luna Sonrisa in my motorcycle hoping that I would have somewhere to park it, though doubtful. I was welcomed in by the friendly and helpful owner, Janak, who went out of his way and let me park it at his home not far away. Besides that, La Luna Sonrisa is a fabulous place to stay in...

La Luna Sunrisa is most probably the best hostel i've stayed at in terms of setting, character, cleanliness, security, breakfast (which is genuinely amazing with home-made jams and fresh brown bread), hot water, late check out and general ambience. The owner is a british guy who leaves nothing to chance. if there's something wrong he will fix it. In my...

Lovely, well-run, clean and spacious hostel. Massive house with big spacious rooms with high-ceilings. Breakfast was delicious and a great opportunity to meet fellow travellers. Homemade jam is particularly good! I recommend staying here, in the heart of the beautiful part of Valparaiso.

I stayed here with 3 friends in the upstairs apartment over New Year. The apartment was clean, bright and spacious. The owner was very friendly, marking places of interest on a map for us when we first arrived and recommending spots to watch the New Year fireworks. Breakfast was the real highlight - wonderful fresh fruit, bread and cheese left...
