Hotel Quito is a 5 min walk from downtown Santiago. The atmosphere is a small family run place, breakfast is a bit basic. Rooms are average to small, some with shared bathrooms. Reception is very friendly and some English is spoken. Relaxed place for a few nights for smaller budgets.

The hotel is very well located if you want to stay in downtown Santiago , everything is in walking distance . The staff is very friendly and helpful . The rooms are old and small , and the bathroom is even older and smaller . The breakfast is VERY basic, but that seems to be typical for hotels in Chile . My room had a glass door and it did not get really dark at night. Good wifi everywhere in the hotel. Not a bad option if you want to stay in the Centro and you don't want to spend a fortune.

There have been some attempts to renovate this old building but it was better than I expected from the photos. The lobby was spacious and open with lovely flower arrangements and a view over the mountains. There was a pool with average food service and a busy well-equipped small gym. The breakfast spread was very good although the free wifi kept dropping out. We stayed in room 557 on our first visit and then room 204. Both had two double beds and a small balcony; no bar fridge and the latter had a slightly more modern bathroom. Unfortunately street noises stopped us from going to sleep on Saturday night and then drilling or pipe noises woke us at 6am. If you want to see the city however I'd recommend that you stay in the old town as there is not much near hear except for a few restaurants across the road.

This hotel is a budget hotel, but it is in walking distance to pretty much everything. The owner is very friendly and full of advice for the travelers who seeks out of touch visits. The room is quite small and stuffy, but ok. The breakfast is normal.

During my three weeks in Chile and Argentina, I stayed in seven hotels or hostels and this was definitely the worst. Why? Because it was grubby with threadbare sheets and my "en suite" wasn't really en suite at all. The bathroom was next door in the corridor. The wooden block flooring in my room ,with its prison courtyard -like view, wasn't properly affixed to the underfloor and with sticky feet the blocks would actually lift up. Day or night you had to buzz for access to the hotel as you were watched by CCTV - hardly a welcoming feeling. The breakfast could not possibly have been any more basic than it was - hardly worth getting up for. The staff seemed pleasant enough but spoke very little English. Three plus points - free access to the internet in the lobby - an caracterful antique lift and a good location for Santiago city centre. Also very close to the Santa Lucia metro station. I was miffed by the fact that the hotel simply took their fee from my credit card - having booked through Expedia - instead of presenting me with a proper bill as the Expedia agreement had indicated. Through this process they overcharged me by around £4UK a night.

Initially we were offered a very small and basic room, but after complaining about the size, we got put to a very large and nice room. The staff doesn't speak much English but the language barrier was not a problem and they were quite helpful and accommodating. The hotel had a pretty good location (close to the city center and metro stations) but is also close to a busy road so car traffic is noticeable. Make sure you have the street address before heading out as there isn't any indication from the outside that the building is a hotel.
