Call it Ismael 312. Some years ago — never mind how long precisely — having little in the way of design hotels, and nothing particular to interest the restless global nomad, the insular city of Santiago quietly took to the construction of a new crop of contemporary boutique hotels. Among the first fruits of this new wave of hotel construction is Ismael 312, a nine-story contemporary boutique hotel in an easy-on-the-eye modern minimalist style, just off the Parque Forestal in Santiago’s historic city center. Semi-transparent glass-walled bathrooms, flat-screen televisions, full-length windows — it’s clear Ismael 312’s proprietors have been paying attention to the interior-design conventions of the boutique-hotel world. This clean-lined look has quickly become the global standard, instantly rendering a million flowery bedspreads obsolete. Here, if you’re fortunate, you’ve got a view of the park from a private balcony; if not, you can content yourself with the pared-down simplicity of your room’s contemporary design. Don’t expect five-star extravagance — Ismael 312 is little more than a pied-a-terre. In this neighborhood, though, that’s more than enough — you’re surrounded by restaurants and picturesque old streets, not to mention the park with its selection of museums, perfectly placed to circumambulate the city of a dreamy Sabbath afternoon.

The hotel is everything we expected and needed, a comfortable, clean room, friendly staff, excellent breakfast and also a convenient location. What was a very positive surprise is that the hotel is located on a private street that only allows circulation to those who live there. Along that street is a park - which is beautiful for a morning run - and on the far side of the park is the first street. The result is that the rooms facing the front of the building are very quiet. It is extra nice to wake up in the middle of bustling Santiago to the chirping of the birds after a good rest.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I recently stayed at the funky boutique Hotel Ismael and could not have been happier with our choice. We had a lovely comfortable room facing the Parque Forestal, which included a very good breakfast. The hotel is in a great location with an easy stroll to lovely cafes, restaurants and the main attractions. Our stay was made extra special because of the fabulous staff. Specifically I want to thank Daniela and Sergio who went out of their way to accommodate a later than usual check out and whose help and care went above and beyond expectations. Highly recommend!

We stayed for 2 nights before joining a cruise. The Ismael is a nice boutique hotel in a convenient central location. The breakfast includes a broad range of choices and there is no extra charge for an espressso. Our room was a bit compact but comfortable and clean. Good value. Staff are efficient and helpful. Recommended.

Excellent boutique hotel in the centre of Santiago, great location with lots of restaurants & coffee shops in walking distance to Lastarria. Super welcoming team, efficient & fast check in. Small well appointed super clean room & comfortable bed. Coffee pod machine a bonus & a balcony looking over the park. Delicious breakfast options! Rooftop pool with views up to San Cristobal Hill. Highly recommend this hotel!

Hotel Ismael was a terrific experience from the moment we arrived. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They were able to check us in early so we could put our luggage in our rooms. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. It also has a rooftop pool with spectacular views. Breakfast was also included and very good, it even included lattes! The hotel was in a great location close to a market and great restaurants. Couldn’t recommend more highly, especially the wonderful service.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Wonderful hotel with even better staff! I’ll be back! The breakfast was amazing, the pool, the location, the whole vibe was spot on. The only thing we would have changed was going to Valparaiso, DO NOT go to Valpo, we were followed and had to leave, very dangerous.

Terrific hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. Having breakfast included was a real plus before long days sightseeing in wine country, Valparaiso, and the Andes. Rooms are clean and well-maintained. Loved the artwork and design in the lobby. Park Forestal is right across the street; it's great for walking and running.
