During our 10-day stay in Santiago, Chile, my partner and I chose to experience the accommodations offered by Le Meridien Hotel. In this review, I will share important details about the property and its location that you should consider before making your reservation. According to La Tercera, this hotel was at the epicenter of the protests in Santiago, Chile. While efforts have been made towards recovery, it is still undergoing renovations. Let's begin with the property itself. The exterior of the building was undergoing renovations, with a noticeable film peeling off the windows. Upon entering our room, we were greeted by a strong smell of smoke that lingered in the air, creating a faint haze. To our disappointment, we noticed smudged lipstick marks on one of the guest glasses placed on the refrigerator. The carpet showed signs of neglect, with patches of dirt scattered across its worn-out fibers. Upon inspection, it was clear that the common areas were in a state of disrepair. Exposed wires dangled haphazardly, stained carpeting marred the floor, signs of water damage were evident, and paint peeling off the walls gave a sense of neglect. Regrettably, the fitness center was closed throughout our stay. Additionally, we encountered internet connectivity issues. Despite bringing this to the attention of the front desk, they nonchalantly informed us that it was a common occurrence. When we inquired about a backup solution, they simply stated that there was none. Not only was the fitness center closed, but to our dismay, both restaurants on the property were also closed, leaving us with no choice but to venture outside in search of a place to enjoy our dinner. Regarding the location, it is important to note that the metropolitan area of Santiago is divided into communes. This hotel is situated in the Santiago commune, which, according to the "Center for Crime Studies and Analysis," had the highest number of reported homicides in 2022. Unfortunately, my partner and I experienced a violent knife-point attack just 200 meters from the hotel entrance. When we arrived back at the hotel, we tried to call the police. However, due to the internet not functioning, we faced difficulty in contacting the police. Overall, while the Le Meridien Hotel in Santiago, Chile may have some shortcomings, it is crucial to consider these factors before finalizing your booking decision.…
