**NOTE-- we booked Hotel Sauken but stayed at their other location HOTEL TREMO BELLAVISTA due to an energy malfunction at Hotel Sauken, but posting here since this seems like a frequent issue from other guests PROS: - Helpful, friendly, bilingual staff at the front desk - Very clean - Great location - Amazing price (only $19 USD per night as we booked Hotel Sauken on Booking.com) However I noticed the price list in the lobby of showed $80 USD per night, which would be too high for the quality of the hotel) CONS: - Nice that breakfast is included, but isn't the best quality/variety

This was a somewhat disappointing experience in Santiago. I am not sure that this property has earned the term "boutique hotel" - unless it is used as a synonym to a hostel, which is closer to what it feels like. The room was tiny, and could not really accommodate a suitcase. This, of course is not a deal breaker. It is more concerning that the bed linens, while washed, are worn and stained and the overall feeling is that of superficial cleanliness. In the winter, the cold seeps in through gaps in the old windows that do not close properly. In the winter, the bathroom gets brutally cold - especially in the night/morning. The room has an individual AC/heating unit, but when turned on the vibrations cause the window to shake making a loud noise that interferes with sleeping. There is room for much much improvement; the breakfast, for example, could do with and upgrade and include coffee that is actually hot, or at least kept in a thermos to try to keep is such. If in need of a shelter to spend an odd night while traveling, this place may do due to its convenient location near Baquedano. I, however, do not plan to come back.

Clean, but small room. Perfectly OK for that price. Good location. Friendly staff with good English. Nice top veranda on the roof. Unimaginative breakfast with too much sweet stuff that starts rather late (8 o clock). Pretty noisy in the morning. Has changed name from Sauken.
