We came to EllenHaus because the hostel we originally wanted to stay at was full. Four of us were put into a triangular ~9x11 room, so there was not alot of space to fit everyone and their things. The first night, the hot water ran out while I was shampooing. I went downstairs in a towel to tell the lady... More

This place is good if you just want a bed for the night - the beds are very comfy. The room I stayed in was tiny, but ok (just) for 1 person. The included breakfast was minimal - 2 pieces of toast with jam. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

I really liked this place, i got to experience a single room, a dorm and also a double, and they were all the same: simple, but cosy; the hostel itself is very charming with all its winding stairs..u almost get lost at first but then u appreciate it. Breakfast was extraordinary, except for the coffee, which isnt't good in any... More

We went to this hotel as part our GAP trip. We found Puerto Varas to be very expensive and with not much to. Admittedly we were coming to the end of the season and the weather was awful. The hotel is very centrally located but thats the only thing nice about it. The staff are inidifferent and do not speak... More

Didnt like this place at all!! The single and cheap rooms are not very clean, and the bathroom is very precarious, no toilet paper or soup, staff not very helpful. Beds are confortable, breakfast is nice and also the dining room is ok.

We spent 2 nights. We enjoyed Puerto Varas for its small town charm, quaint location on the lake and stunning view of Volcan Osorno. We happened upon Ellenhaus from 'Rough Guides'. Our room was cosy and simple, with comfortable bedding. The housekeeping staff were quick to correct any requests. Main drawbacks were paper-thin walls (conversations cannot be of a sensitive,... We spent two nights in Puerto Varas during a wet and windy spell in March. Partly due to the weather and partly because we found the town to be quite expensive we spent a lot of time in our hostel! The rooms were really cosy with thick duvets and TV`s! There was also a big communal kitchen, a book exchange... More
