As cliché as that sounds, Shophouse was started by a couple of best friends, backpackers who couldn't travel the world (yet) and wanted to bring it to them instead. So grab us if you have a minute to spare, we all have a wanderlust tale we'd love to hear or share. Less than 30 minutes from Changi International Airport, The Shophouse is located at Arab Street, a heritage area famous for its heady mix of arts, culture, dining and fashion. A 5-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station, Nicoll Highway MRT Station or Golden Mile Bus Complex, Shophouse combines affordability, comfort and convenience in a charming historical building.
We stay just one night in a single room, and the room was so dirty, under the bed we have papers from other clients and it looks like they haven't clean it for a long time, one of the walls have mold, it was the worst hotel of our travel. it is cheap but really dirty. The only good thing is the hostel has a very good location

The first time I entered the room, my bed was not provided with a pillow, I had to take a pillow in an empty bed so I could sleep, I slept in the 3rd floor (bed number 31f), 3 toilets or all the toilet on the 3rd floor had a toilet so I can't take a shower, the trash cans are not thrown away & there is a lot of garbage scattered everywhere, I don't see any cleaning staff, staff just stay in the restaurant downstairs, staff nobody cares, hopefully all my reviews can be fixed quickly .

Decent place to stay, near to Bugis MRT. For muslim, there’s a mosque and halal restaurant nearby. U can shop souvenir next to the mosque. The bathroom also clean But u have to bring your own towel or rent it.

I stayed here only for one night. Cheap is the main reason why I booked this hostel. The best part of this hostel is the location. Near bugis mrt, kampung glam, sultan mosque, etc. Very strategic. But about the room, I don't really like it. It's dark, and the bathrooms are not really Clean.

We stayed here because we were looking for something cheap, but he room and bathroom and entire hostel were so utterly disgusting and dirty that we left after 12 hours, even though we had already paid. The room had no window, the bed was horrid, and one didn’t dare to touch the floor or use the bathroom. Stay far away from this place.

I booked a Private Room through Agoda and checked in for my 1-night stay over there. I am amazed with the cleanliness that this hostel has maintained not only to the rooms, but also to their shared toilet. The staff at the check-in counter is friendly and helpful too. For me, it is a sure worth hostel if you are considering for some basic night of stay in Singapore.

Having come from a different hostel around the corner, I have to say it; this is not a good hostel. For the price range you will be able to find better hostels. The showers and toilets are disgusting (even more then the hostel I came from). The beds are uncomfortable, thin mattresses and wobbly bunks beds unfortunately. And for people with many luggage it's kind of annoying that they don't have an elevator. Having to carry all you luggage up the narrow staircase, it just adds to my disappointing visit. This is coming from someone who lived in hostels for the past three months.

Location is great, check in was easy, and we slept well. Unfortunately I can't use the locker and the bathroom in my floor because it was renovated. the front desk is open at 8 am, and we had to catch our flights earlier hence we can't get our deposits back. Currently asking for it on PayPal.

First of all, this hostel is really cheap that why I know I couldn’t expect too much. I booked for a female dormitory and it’s located at 3rd level ( there’s no elevator). At the female dormitory level, they do have a access card to open the door. However, I found that there’s another door which is open for public and just right next to shower room?? Sometimes, I saw few male staff or strangers(?) walked pass. Besides, the male staff will come and check the room. But they just knock the door without ask for permission and keep walk in/ out the room. What if I was changing the cloth?? If you don’t mind all these points above and you are looking for a really cheap hostel and nice location, then you could just go ahead and book the room.

Hello AlleyKe, Thank you for staying with Shophouse The Social Hostel! We appreciate your feedback. The staircase beside the shower room is for emergency exit. Staff will do their round checks for the hostel and will have to get inside the female dormitory as well. Also, we will look into the staff matter. Hope to see you here again someday! Cheers, Ista
