Hotel lobby was classical and retro. It seems that time was turn back to the early years of the past. At the lobby, you can help yourself to retro biscuits like the gem candy biscuits and on, together with the drinks which you can help yourself. Unfortunately, there is a fault in my room, the aircon is unable to work....

I've always wanted to stay at hotel 1929 but normally work would place me somewhere around the clean and business-like CBD area. Finally a weekend getaway at 1929! I had lovely service from the get go, the front desk allowed me to check in at 12pm instead of the normal 2pm. I was upgraded to a bigger room although I...

First of all i would like to compliment this hotel for giving such a good hospitality. Was greeted by the front desk liyana. She greeted us warmly and helped us with our luggages. After checking in we decided to go for lunch and asked for directions. She gave us recommendations to maxwell and boy did we not regret that. Singapore...

Hotel 1929 is a really nice Hotel in the hearth of Singapore Chinatown. Good and Friendly Staff. The rooms are very clean. If you book this Hotel you know that the rooms are really very small. For my opinion the price for these rooms is exagerated. Fantastic location with a lot of Restaurants and Bars

Hi billibello-21, Thank you for your taking the time to share this review with us. We're sure it will serve as a helpful guide for future guests looking to stay in Singapore. Housed in a conservation shophouse and catered for the solo travellers, we recognise that some of the rooms are rather compact. For the space conscious, we usually recommend...

While location is perfect, it is super easy to get food anywhere as there's a stretch of food places and bars nearby. I booked this hotel to spend an early weekend with my partner as part of our anniversary gift. Upon arrival, a lady greeted us with a warm welcome. She was very friendly, helpful and informative with the directions...

The place is located in Chinatown, which is a 4 mins walk to the MRT station. The Hotel has a unique design, room was small but it was tidy and neat. The only thing that bothered me was that the rooms were not sound proof, you can hear the voices of people talking in the other room. If you want...

Hotel looks lovely from the outside and it's in a pretty street in Chinatown and near Outram Park MTR. Lobby is cute and the staff on check in nice. Free refreshments in the lobby too. I think I booked a superior or deluxe and I got a room on the street side with a small balcony and windows on the...

I really, really wanted to like this hotel. It's trendy with nice touches (free snack/drink bar at reception), and while small, the rooms are kitted out with comfy beds and quality stuff, and guests are loaned a local smart phone with unlimited calls/internet to be used while in Singapore. Ala-carte breakfast is included at a reasonable price. My problem was...

I drove past this hotel and was intrigued by the odd looking chairs and decided to try out this quirky hotel. Hence this wati gave me good price for the deluxe room so of course i gave it a try. And when i checked in, wati gave me a complimentary upgrade to the junior suite, inside got bathtub. My partner...

Booked the room for a friend who came from overseas over at Hotel 1929 in December. We arrived around 11 in the morning and was immediately greeted by the gentleman at the desk. i believe his name was Suraj, who answered my long list of questions of what to do around Chinatown. There was another girl whom assisted my friend...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
