The place is located in Chinatown, which is a 4 mins walk to the MRT station. The Hotel has a unique design, room was small but it was tidy and neat. The only thing that bothered me was that the rooms were not sound proof, you can hear the voices of people talking in the other room. If you want...

Hotel looks lovely from the outside and it's in a pretty street in Chinatown and near Outram Park MTR. Lobby is cute and the staff on check in nice. Free refreshments in the lobby too. I think I booked a superior or deluxe and I got a room on the street side with a small balcony and windows on the...

I really, really wanted to like this hotel. It's trendy with nice touches (free snack/drink bar at reception), and while small, the rooms are kitted out with comfy beds and quality stuff, and guests are loaned a local smart phone with unlimited calls/internet to be used while in Singapore. Ala-carte breakfast is included at a reasonable price. My problem was...

I drove past this hotel and was intrigued by the odd looking chairs and decided to try out this quirky hotel. Hence this wati gave me good price for the deluxe room so of course i gave it a try. And when i checked in, wati gave me a complimentary upgrade to the junior suite, inside got bathtub. My partner...

Booked the room for a friend who came from overseas over at Hotel 1929 in December. We arrived around 11 in the morning and was immediately greeted by the gentleman at the desk. i believe his name was Suraj, who answered my long list of questions of what to do around Chinatown. There was another girl whom assisted my friend...

Spent 4 nights in Dec and came back for another night in January. Had single rooms which were very small but had everything I needed. The staff are great, go out of their way to be helpful . As an example when I left and they called a taxi for me the receptionist ran up to my room just to...

Stayed here for 4 nights , great location with 2 subways very near by. The room is small but the cases went under the bed and we had the added bonus of a balcony. The rooms were clean and bedding and towels changed daily. In the room was a mobile device that you could take out with you so had...

Although I knew that my room would be small, I was surprised at how tiny it actually was. It was less than 10 square metres with the toilet in the shower (which I discovered was fairly common in Singapore). The location was excellent, close to Chinatown and a relatively short walk to Marina Bay and some great hawker centres. There...

Me and my wife booked the Terrace Suite for 2 nights (the most expensive room). The room was small but cozy and did have its charms. There were however many things which fell short of our expectations for the price we paid: - the rooms weren't sound proof. You can hear people in the next room shuffle around during the...

Dear Zeit222, Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences following your stay in the Terrace Suite. I regret to hear that the stay you had was so far from one which we would intend for any of our guest staying with us. Please be assured that we review all feedback with our team to improve our performance....

The tiniest room (even if you have a kind-of-good one), with the toilet and shower inside the bedroom. When you have your luggage inside, you can't even move. Smells like they have never opened the windows. But I guess that the problem is about being Singapore, because ALL the hotels are overpriced there (that is why I would recommend a...

Dear Elena B, Thank you for taking time to share this with us. Housed in a conservation building, most of our rooms are rather compact and indeed not very big but perfect for the solo traveller looking for a strategic base to explore the city. Nevertheless, we appreciate your visit and we hope to welcome you back in the future....

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
