The Carlton Hotel Singapore garners commendation for its immaculate premises and well-appointed rooms that foster a serene and elegant atmosphere. Guests frequently acknowledge the hotel's strategic location near key attractions and transport links. Although the staff's professionalism and dedication often receive high marks, some guests suggest that the level of service could be elevated further.
While the spaciousness and comfort of the rooms are highlights, travelers note the absence of modern amenities like USB chargers. Despite its many strengths, the hotel's value proposition is occasionally questioned, with some guests expecting more for their expenditure.

Hi.. To begin with, I must point out this review is not about the Hotel per se - more a case of be warned about making your booking. DO NOT USE any site which has "Guest Relations' or "Guest Reservations" added into the title. I googled the Hotel site and entered "Carlton Hotel Guest Reservations'- .. to cut a long story short- whilst my on-line amount for the evening totalled $AUD 540.00 - the bill on my credit card was in excess of $AUD 940.00. The Hotel did not accept any responsibility- other than to advise - I had made my booking NOT with the Hotel. Yes - they had my booking - but it was via a third party and they could not cancel. So... my 'VERY GOOD rating is solely based on the assistance and patience of their Senior Duty Manager - ADRIAN TEO and his staff. They did try their best, they did go the extra yards and I believe were genuinely distressed their site had been hacked. Whilst we did not receive any refund- an $AUD 940.00+ a night is an expensive lesson - Mr TEO did provide complimentary Breakfasts and other services in an effort to offset the less than favourable experience. Please note, this is maybe the 15th time over 20 years I have stayed at this particular Hotel - it is ageing and significantly so.. but the location and ease of accessing items of interest makes it my choice time and time again. Be careful out there.

Nice room and as always in Singapore - top cleaning.
Only small complaint is a rather noisy aircon. It was the old type, which switched on and off, and there was no doubt when it had switched on.
The location is fantastic. Raffles is 50 meters away, so the traditional Singapore Sling can be reached in less than a minute. With public transport around the city, the location is also right in the middle of the hub.
Singapore is not cheap, but in relation to the price a really, really good buy, and certainly the place we choose in a possible case. new visit to Singapore..

Beautiful hotel with a stunning lobby centerpiece. Our room was spotless and comfortable with a view of the city and sea. The employees were always available and willing to help with anything we asked. The pool area was spacious with lounges and umbrellas and the gym was filled with state of the art equipment. We walked across the street to Raffles City to access the mrt and shopping. Across the other side of the street is Chijmes. The location is literally steps away from all forms of transportation. We enjoyed the complimentary buffet breakfast and the hotel guest discount for the weekend seafood buffet.

Ok, the room is a good size, housekeeping did a good job, there is a nice pool and gym and the lobby has some comfy chairs. If you are going to Singapore the Carlton is a solid choice taking value into account. Why only 3 stars? I arrived at 7am after a long haul flight from Europe that left there in the evening. I barely slept on the flight and was exhausted when I arrived in Singapore. I asked for an early check in but I was told that the hotel was full and I would be able to get in at 12:50 pm at the earliest. Ok, I collapsed in the lobby and fell asleep. I decided to ask reception at 11 am if my room was ready, and lo and behold, it had been ready since 10am! Why would they tell me that there was no chance before 12:50 if that was wrong? I found this lack of kindness and service very annoying since it would not have cost the hotel anything to be honest and at least tell me I could check with them after 10am. Did reception staff not feel like doing their job? I am truly confused.
The room was in the old building and their was a faint musty smell but it was ok.
I did stay in the new building in February and was nice apart from a really strange quirk in the bathroom. When you walk into the shower/bathtub area the shower is on your left and the bathtub to the right. The soap and shampoo dispensers are fixed to the wall to the left of the shower. Therefore if you want to use these while taking a bath you have to step out of the bathtub to get these and get back into the bath again. Very annoying and inconvenient. This arrangement is just thoughtless and stupid. The shampoo and soap should have been placed in an area that is easy to reach from the shower AND bathtub. Failing that, the soap and shampoo should be in portable containers, not fixed to the wall. (For reference this room was on the 8th floor.)

Stayed for 4 nights, hotel is in a great location and worthy of a 3.5 rating but trip advisor doesn’t allow that and in our opinion not quite worth a 4.
The lobby is beautiful and smells great as you enter and the breakfast is good with a reasonable spread of different items. Had a room in the premier wing and the view over Raffles hotel and onward towards Marina Bay Sands hotel was good.
The room smelled strange every time we entered with a kind of weird musty smell which was quite off putting and never went away during our visit. Two out of three days the tea and coffee was not replenished and there are no spoons in the room just wooden stirrers which feels a bit cheap. One day we came back to no soap or hand washing products in the room at all and had to ring housekeeping for some and I’m doubtful that the bath was cleaned during our entire stay.
Overall OK stay but definitely could be better.

Modern hotel with large rooms. Bottled water is replaced in the room every day and a fridge to keep it cool. Very clean and shampoo and conditioner provided. Toothbrush and toothpaste provided which was useful as our suitcases didn't arrive with us due to not making the transfer flight. Reception let us know they arrived on Christmas Day. Excellent location, opposite CHIJMES, and next door to Raffles. Loads of bars and restaurants on your doorstep, including Orchard Road. The only downside was that the lighting in the bathroom area was poor, which made apply makeup difficult. Also, you couldn't open the shower door if you had a bathmat down and it didn't have enough clearance. We had a very enjoyable 4 night stay.

I often stay at this hotel and am generally happy with what’s on offer. However, a four night stay at $2,500 excluding breakfast, with an empty minibar, and no room service available does not seem right. But that’s what it was. Apparently you can’t order room service. There are several QR codes dotted around the room (great for millennials and kids I guess) which direct you to go to the bar downstairs. When you ring “In-room dining” they say it’s on a QR code, which then directs you to “get dressed” and go to the bar downstairs. They don’t even offer to take any sort of order. Presumably the policy is to try and get guests to pay exorbitant prices in their in house facilities. Cost savings are great, as staff don’t need to bother delivering food to rooms. Additionally - the bathroom taps were damaged, the mirror had someone else’s lipstick (not nice) on it which I cleaned off. One of the nights was $850. Wow. What is going wrong with what is normally a top notch place to stay.

I quite enjoyed my short 5 night stay at the Carlton. It is located in the business district and right across the street from a mall and MRT Station City Hall. Check in was at 930pm and was a breeze. My room was the Executive King room which was spacious, cleaned daily lovely bathroom and they even loaned us a transformer so i could use my steamer. The room came with complimentary tooth brush, shower gel shampoo conditioner cotton balls and Q tips. This room had a bath and a separate shower. Im not a foodie I eat what i like ..the same thing every morning..so breakfast in my opinion was great..lots of choices. There was an omlette station. Bacon, sausages hash brown cream spinach, noodles breads cheeses stuff to make a salad cereals oatmeal, muffins cakes, and fruits galore. Staff was friendly helpful efficient and this all ammounted to a great stay. I was originally booked to stay in Hotel Mono in China Town and im so happy i ended up changing to The Carlton Hotel!

Staff was friendly and service worked. It was really nice to get ice delivered to your room. There was also empty fridge in the room where you could put your own drinks and snacks. Room was quiet and we liked the location. Near to Chinatown and Little India and Raffles city shopping mall where you could find many restaurants and shopping.

Felt very good at this hotel. I visited Singapore for the first time and stayed here for a week. The main purpose was to watch the World Chess Championship at Sentosa and do some sightseeing.
Right from the beginning of the stay, this hotel provided a nice experience. I arrived very early as my flight arrived in morning. The kind person in the front desk provided me a room within a short waiting duration even though the checkin time was several hours away. He also provided me with a room upgrade. Thank you. I initially only planned to stay for 3 days but because the hotel room was good and I wanted to experience Singapore even more, I extended my stay by 5 more days :) The room was very spacious and I felt good that I went for this hotel instead of some slightly cheaper hotels with much smaller rooms. This hotel is ideally located close to the Raffles Hotel and I enjoyed the daily night walks when it is a bit more nicer.
As I’m about to leave the hotel, another kind person in the front desk, Eddie, who displayed genuine warmth, and also provided me with the option to take a shower, as I checked out in the noon, and he went out of his way to provide me with an option very late in the night as I have a early morning flight to catch. I took a good shower and it keeps me fresh for my flight. Thank you Eddie! :) Thank you also to Viji for being very accommodative of my various requests with my luggage, charging my phone, water bottles, etc. Thank you Viji! :)
Overall I had a very pleasant stay. The ground floor hall was a nice place to sit and spend some time. Thank you. I will plan to stay here again when I visit Singapore!

Breakfast closes in hotel around 10am; however, there is a coffee cafe inside hotel which also sales a few breakfast items. Also across the street in the mall on bottom floor there is a famous breakfast place there. There are a variety of food places around the hotel.
Im sure they can accommodate an additional person (I’m presuming a child). The hotel’s standards are so high that this cannot be a problem. You will need to check re extra cost.
There are more places to choose from in the Singapore area.
