I am currently serving my SHN at Carlton hotel with my husband and unfortunately the experience has been really bad for us. The food service especially is the first, followed by housekeeping needs. The day we arrived, we checked in by 6am and were told that breakfast should be delivered between 8-10am. after a long wait till 1030am we called the reception to check, and then they delivered one set of breakfast around 1045am, while there were two of us. Lunch again was served for one and we had to call back for the second. There were multiple days when breakfast and lunch were delayed. We also requested for the menu at least 5 times since Day 2 and each time told they will 'inform the food team' to send to us, but eventually we only got the menu shared on Day 11. It made it so difficult for us to plan ahead if we wanted to order other food. On Day 11, we did not receive our breakfast at all, and we were busy with work all morning and only managed to call the operator after lunch to inform that we did not receive breakfast and asked for the cause. Again was told that they will 'inform the food team' and ask to deliver 'breakfast'. It was an irrational response and we were disappointed with the lack of professionalism and empathy. We were also told that we would get housekeeping supplies of new bed linen and bath towels on DDay 7. On Day 7, we received one set of new bath and hand towel. We had to call back to ask for additional bath towel, bed linen and toilet paper. And received 2 toilet rolls for two people for the rest of the 7 days. Had to also call back to ask for additional bath gel. It is surprising that the hotel management is not able to prepare ahead for the expected necessities for its customers. Overall, a disappointing stay at Carlton.

For its name, i thought I would experience better but no. Worst. First of all, when I booked this hotel, i had chosen a CITY VIEW. Instead, they gave me a view of all the OTHER ROOMS and their NOT IMPRESSIVE SWIMMING POOL. Then i called and asked, they said , its subject to availability and that they are full. I do not know that if you selected city view, they still give u rubbish view. Of all the hotel staycation I hve been too. This is just as lousy! NOT RECOMMENDED!

Stayed here for our honeymoon staycation and did not regret! Rooms are clean, spacious, the housekeeping lady were very nice and friendly as well! Would like to thank Ms Dian for our smooth check in and assistance with new key card when the existing one couldn't work. We would definitely come back here again!

Came for a staycay at Carlton for the hub’s birthday. Check in was a breeze and we got a room facing Bras Basah.. so was glad the reception staff are very helpful to help us change a room and got us a Suntec City view instead. Carlton is a stone throw away from Raffles City and I am glad I have ordered a cake collection there, as the hotel staff has forgotten/ came when the DND button was on/ because we had a change of room, to deliver a complimentary cake as mentioned in the email. We ordered a seafood pizza for in room supper dining and told them we will be paying by card, however the staff came up without a portable card terminal, and took my husband’s card away for a good 10mins.. The room itself is comfortable and cosy and we all had a good rest. It’s really a beautiful hotel and took us by pleasant surprise. The pool is clean and nice and easy to book too. The disappointment is we bought this stay via KLOOK and are unable to get a late check out at 4pm (subject to availability).. we were then told that if the booking is over a weekend it is totally impossible to have it at all. So the booking was a bit misleading. Overall the stay is good. We will most probably be back again.

I arrived at 1205pm for an early check in and finished the check in around 120pm. This was after calling the hotel over the last couple of days to check on what I need to do so I can make my stay pleasurable. I was attended to by the Duty Manager Ben Kuan (I didn't know he was a duty manager at that point) There was another guy, who had cleared another customer and was serving the one in front of me. Ben had unfortunately taken a longer time to serve his customer. After showing him my booking, he asked for my NRIC (cos I am Singaporean, so we don't need to produce our passport), which I showed a soft copy to him. He typed something then asked for the physical NRIC, which I told him I didn't have it. And that is when the nightmare started. He started to nag at me that I SHOULD bring my NRIC out, which fyi, there isnt even a legislation that we need to carry our physical NRIC with us at all times. The fine for the loss of the NRIC is rather hefty and that is also why I left it at home, as I had previously lost it once from being pickpocketed. Then Ben Kuan tells me that he can accept Singpass log in, which I proceeded to do so for him. But he keeps nagging at me about the physical NRIC, saying I SHOULD HAVE read the terms and conditions, blah blah blah. This really started getting on my nerves for I was there for relaxation and not to be nagged at. I told him off, that I started my day great and expectant for a relaxing stay at the Carlton, not to be told off by him. Instead of a sorry, he started to defend himself saying that I SHOULD bring my NRIC and SHOULD read the terms & conditions and that he was only TELLING ME about it. Come on! As a duty manager, that is NOT how you serve a customer. Especially one who has expressly said that she is getting irate by your comments. Next is the gold - he then asks me if i want to continue the check in. To which I replied I dont have a choice right? I cant just cancel and get a refund can I? And he "kindly" replied that he can do a refund for me if that's what I want. Dude! I was put off at his nagging and the choice of words used, that I SHOULD bring my NRIC. And there's no sorry, but tells me that I am unwelcome by offering a refund? Seriously! He is the "smartest" Duty Manager I have ever encountered. That's 1225pm. And the next 45min was just waiting and waiting for someone to deal with me because I TOTALLY did NOT want to deal with an a-hole like him. The call centre contacted him and asked him to talk to me, but he never approached me in the 45min wait. I had to approach the front desk to ask how long more are they going to make me wait, did a kind older male (Mazlan) help me with the check in and it was so simple! HE should have been made the duty manager. He just needed my soft copy NRIC and my booking number. He did not scan my nric as what Ben claimed to need to do. And also advised me that if no physical NRIC actually Sngpass log in was possible as well - something that a DUTY MANAGER SHOULD know and be able to communicate right? But why didn't he? Why did he INSIST that I SHOULD bring my NRIC, and SHOULD read the terms and conditions and that T&C states no physcial NRIC, no check in. What BS! Cos many places in Singapore now accepts Singpass Log in! And his colleague accepted a Singpass log in! So what is his issue? Kudos to Mazlan for saving the day. It would be because of people like Mazlan that I would recommend Carlton Hotel to. The hotel location is good. Opposite Raffles City shopping centre and central to other shopping areas in Orchard. They also have a nice Jap restaurant - Shinji and a yummy chinese Restaurant Wah Lok. But Ben Kuan.... should not be allowed in customer service line unless he goes through corrective training. Terrible terrible customer service. The call centre actually made excuses for him, saying they are unable to reach him because there is a high volume of check ins. I was sitting at the check in counter area starring at an empty front desk. Then later they said he was handling SHN customers. I do not know how much of a lie is that, but I am pretty sure I would highlight that to the customer service manager and the GM. The customer service said they will get someone to call me back but they never did. This is really poor form and below my expectations for a hotel like Carlton.
