Orchard Hotel is a rare gem tucked away at the fringe of Singapore's famous shopping belt. Far from the hustle and bustle of crowds but near enough to the thick of the action when you decide to jump into it. I had initially booked this hotel as a one-week "workcation" where I intended it to be a quiet oasis for me to conduct my business in peace. It eventually turned out to be one pleasant surprise after another...even as a local! The professionalism was clear from the moment I checked in that afternoon. Halfway while the receptionist (Hidayah) was serving me, a man cut the queue and interrupted the whole process. However, Hidayah exhibited great composure and politely directed the man behind the queue and informed him that she was still processing the documents for me. Most hotel staff would have been too timid to say anything but Hidayah handled the situation with grace. The next morning during breakfast while waiting to enter the dining hall, a group of men (presumably from the same entourage) cut the queue again and rushed in front of me while the attendant at the counter had her back turned thus not knowing what happened. This time, I am miffed and told the attendant that I was first in line. She then displayed the same composure as her colleague and firmly directed the group of men to stand back in line while politely taking my room card. The staff at this property are clearly trained for such situations and I am very impressed. Housekeeping service was simply excellent. And it was the staff that added that special human touch. During my stay, I called for laundry service on a daily basis and from the third day onwards, a housekeeper turned up every morning knocking on my door to enquire if I had any clothes to wash. A housekeeper by the name of "Kim" was exceptionally friendly and made small talk with me while she cleaned the room. As she pulled the curtains apart, she remarked how hot and sunny it was outside and passed me 5 bottles of mineral water! She reminded me to hydrate myself more in this hot weather. This was the exact moment when I felt that Orchard Hotel's strength comes from the intangible human touch that even other luxury hotels may not be able to replicate. While many may feel that a hotel's rooms and amenities are more important, I think that it is the "software" that truly makes the difference in the highly competitive hospitality industry. And precisely because the "software" is so difficult to elevate compared to merely renovating the building, Orchard Hotel has done particularly well in this aspect. The staff are walking ambassadors for the hotel with their little acts of kindness and professionalism. I cannot think of another hotel either in Singapore or other countries where the staff genuinely commit themselves to good service even for guests who are not staying in suites. In the case of housekeeper "Kim", I can feel that her words and actions are genuine and sincere. Well done, Orchard Hotel! I will be making "workcation" here a regular feature of my business in 2023!

Was allocated Orchard Hotel Singapore for my 21 days of quarantine. The last 21 days wasn’t the easiest but I am extremely grateful to two helpful individuals that went out of their way to make my stay a better one. Thank you Mr Quam Kponton (Front Office Manager) and Ms Nithya (Duty Manager I believe) for going above and beyond your call of duty. I had a severe allergic reaction in my room on my first day of arrival and had to teleconsult my doctor as we aren’t able to step out of our room during our SHN period. Initially in the evening, I wasn’t able to get the help I needed and I had to put up with the night. However my allergy reaction got so bad in the middle of the night that I had to called the call centre at 4am for assistance. I am so thankful for Ms. Nithya who tried her very best to get me the items I needed and even ensure follow up assistance was given properly. Not forgetting Mr. Quam who had been taking care of me throughout the 21 days of my SHN and checking on me and my condition - both of you are truly gems of Orchard Hotel!

Have been visiting the hotel for years now but this time the last time. Very expensive, room was worn, long queues in the morning for breakfast taking easily 40 min, check-out took more than 30 minutes as front desk was short staffed and could not cope with number of guest departing. When you wanted to address a complaint you were told write to lanagement

Not a flash one nor best contemporary but very classic hotel accommodation. Don’t forget to click off the ‘do not disturb’ light and turn in the ‘please make room’ switch as I forgot after first night and had to call front for extra towels and water arriving evening.

No doubt, there is room for improvement but this time i feel it had outshine some of the big boys hotel and deserve a 5 star rating as given. The service rendered remind me why i chose Orchard hotel 12 Years ago for my Wedding Venue. Even though there are some issue regards to my room book. They are settled by a very helpful Ms. Merlin Leman. She had helped me with some arrangement and the booking. She even called me and try to understand more etc. They could have just ignored me but did not. We chose the Premier Suite that is very spacious and comfortable for my family. Upon arrival, I am very impressed with Mr. Alvin Fernz who helped with my check in. He brief us about the club Lounge and etc. And thank you for helping to ensure the surprise birthday arrangement works out! It is also very thoughtful of the hotel to send us some macaron bites for our wedding anniversary. Amenities were all in order without us having to call the operator to request for them. Club Lounge had some sandwiches and drinks that is very refreshing for guests who just check in. Comfortable and private setting. Unfortunately as it was raining, we had to cancel our swim at the hotel. Dinner at the Orchard Cafe buffet is simply fantastic with a much wider spread of variety. Items were replenished fast, and plates were cleared rather quick. However I was warned about a "snaking" queue that will form at the morning breakfast. Was told to go early for our breakfast, we reached about 9am and we were already queuing at the 2nd line of the queue. We spent about 6 to 10 mins in queue. Again wide spread of variety but unfortunately there is hardly time for relaxation as guests are limited to 45 mins of dining as there is a continuing "snake" queue outside. After finishing my breakfast, I had a shock to see the queue is forming from the cafe to the lift area. I can't fault the staff as I had seen how they are trying their best to clear the queue. But perhaps arrange some stagger timing would be better. All in all we still had an enjoyable stay at this hotel, as I had experienced good service from the hotel staff. And the number of guests that i seen had proven me right.

Hotel is located on Orchard Street, close enough to the ION Shopping Center and other good shopping spots. Hotel itself is clean, rooms large enough, have all the necessary amenities and are clean. Breakfast was plentiful, however, one has to avoid certain rush hours as the lineups are long... Had the luxury of using the lounge - comfortable and caters to business meetings.

Terrible services. For the first time a hotel charged me for ice cubes. Tiny rooms. No space at all. The reception was too slow and unfriendly. The concierge was very helpful. Will not recommend anyone. The location was helpful. Breakfast queue was more than 45 minutes.

Hotel is popular because of its prime location on Orchard Rd. Other than that, everything else is VERY ordinary. Clearly they are having staff issues so service really suffers. So your issue starts at check in. And continues. Particularly at Breakfast. Can you imagine standing in a long queue to get in for breakfast? Then long waits for most stuff there. Very shoddy service by restaurant staff- wont even get you a spoon or a glass of water if you needed it! Clear discrimination between Western and Asian people. Many staff don't speak English. Food was ordinary. They had some award winning restaurant but didn't try that. Rooms are ok sized but OLD. Toilets are way past replacement time but no one seems bothered. Bed is comfortable. Lighting is poor. Everything in need of a major makeover! Concierge guys were an exception- always willing to help. Getting taxis- one of the biggest nightmares in Singapore- was thankfully not a problem at the hotel. It of course remains a huge issue elsewhere. You need to have a local Sim card if you want to call a cab. Your international roaming number wont work. All in all, a big thumbs down.
