I loved this place. It is close to the metro stop it is not far from bus stops and it is at the south end of Chinatown and easily approached from all areas of Singapore. I took a chance by staying here, and I could not have made a better decision. The staff was fantastic. They helped me in every...

The Hotel is located in an interesting area of Chinatown. From there it is easy to get around either by walking, or public transport. There is a wonderful market just a block away that has a great food court, wonderful for breakfast. The room was comfortable. The staff were very helpful. I have no reservations in recommending this Hotel.

This is a no frills Hotel located in the vicinity of Chinatown. Taxis find it a bit difficult to locate the Hotel (possibly because the road in front of the Hotel is a one-way), so it is better to carry the Hotel’s full address and give the same to the driver to navigate with GPS. There are two MRT stations,...

Smelly, soiled, torned mattresss. Location is ok with helpful receptionist. Very old bathroom. Good for transit passengers or for those who just need to night sleep. Don't expect anything more. Price is cheap. Lots of eateries around. Local taste preferred.

Spent 9 nights. Clean rooms. Free internet available but poor signal to 3rd Floor rooms. Anyway I manage to use it with slight breakdown at times. Very big food centre just 1 minute walking distance. This hotel Located in between two MRT stations so need to walk about 10 minutes either side. Good AC. Good assistance from staff. Value for...

For the third time we stayed here for several weeks. As always we enjoyed the friendly personal attention, and a nice spacious room with a huge window. I’ve reviewed the hotel before, and nothing significant has changed. Do e-mail reception when booking, and discuss any special requirements with them. In particular, looking at other reviews rooms near the elevator can...

The price is quite cheap considering the room (good bed, good shower, has hot water kettle, tv, dvd player, fridge). Needs are met promptly. Bonus is that it's close to Outram Park and Tiong Bahru station so pretty convenient if you want to go to other places using the MRT. Only downside is that the hallway noise transfer to the...

This is the second time we’ve stayed here this year, this time we stayed for 6 weeks, so you can tell we really like the place. Our room had a lovely large window overlooking the street, so immediately I wondered about noise at night. In fact we never had any serious problem after we settled at about 11.30pm. The mattress...

We made a last minute decision to visit the formula one race in Singapore and hotel rates where ar an all time high. The new Cape inn was the cheapest option which wasn't too far away from an MRT station. Rooms very basic but clean. We didn't have a window (we were informed upfront) and there was a noisy fan...

Staying in Tiong Bahru

Neighbourhood Profile
Tiong Bahru
Home to both local families and transient expats, Tiong Bahru is a fascinating mix of tradition and youthful creativity. Its status as a conservation area ensures that this little hub has charm and heritage on display at every corner, while the 1930s art deco architecture provides a glimpse of days gone by. Stock up on fresh tropical fruits at the wet market, browse high quality literature and children’s books, shop for interesting gifts and local fashion, or munch on bargain-priced hawker food as the aroma of frying noodles and fresh-brewed coffee wafts through the air. Cap your day with a massage and a latte, a glass of wine, or a pain au chocolat from one of the many busy bakeries. An afternoon in this vibrant and beautiful neighbourhood is not to be missed.

“Rooms on the front get much more afternoon sun and consequently heat up more in the afternoon. If you want a cool room, ask for one NOT on the front of the building.”
