Location of the hotel was great because it was near places I was interested to visit such as the Buddha Tooth Relic temple/museum, Sri Mirriamin temple and Chinatown (many hawker stalls and souvenir shops). Its also near the Outram MRT station to travelling to further off places and even the airport was very easy. Staff were friendly and accommodating, going... More

A bit expenssive hotel, for the quality you get. Service was really nice and everything worked well. Booked through agonda, so ot may be the reason for expensive rooms. Rooms are small, i mean really small. Good for few nights, but not for a longer trip. Aircon worked, bed was ok. Bathroom and shower worked, but no luxury here. Location... More

The front office staff Paul was very friendly (it is quite rare to see smiling faces in SG), when we were unable to find money exchange due to our night arrival, he went out of the extra mile with the willingness to assist us with our dilemma. Keep it up, Paul and Hotel 81. It is also strategically located to... More

The location of this hotel is great. You can chose to use either MRT OUTRAM exit H or MRT CHINA TOWN exit A. It's easy to find food around Chinatown. However, it may take 10-15 mins to go to each MRT station depending on your step. For the room, I got the room in front of the building and beside... More

Room was cosy, decent space, would say 20% bigger than usual hotel 81 room with queen size bed. Comfortable clean bed and pillows. We got a bathtub instead of stand up shower room. Plus point on that! Sufficient lighting and good service. Unlike other outlets located at bugis and bencoolen, those 2 were more than a tad run down and... More

The hotel had small rooms. It was soso clean. Only had one power out-let and wifi was not so good. Okey for e-mailing but not for youtube etc. Reception personal should go a service course. You get what you pay for.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
