Whimsical room was lovely, but stairs were quite steep. While the breakfast options were limited, and this was made up by the quality of the food. Ropm prices were not cheap as compared to other luxury hotels in town, perhaps even more expensive.

This hotel should not be part of the SPG portfolio. The rooms are too small and not confortare (the bed may be entered only for 1 side) and there is not enough space to open a trolly or to hang on a men suit in the wardrobe. Rooms are noisy from other guests and the street. Common areas are again...

My wife and I stayed in one of the "Whimsical" rooms (the Treehouse) for a couple nights. Any longer and I think we might have gone insane: While we had booked the largest category of room, it is *really* small, as in too small to open two suitcases at the same time. The room comprises two parts: 1) a lower...

I had my reservations, no pun intended, when I booked the Wanderlust, given the rooms with neon signs and seeing it featured on The Layover with Anthony Bourdain as being a hipster trendy hotel but the location and the price was too hard to pass up. Upon check in it did disappoint. The rooms are as picture modern and minimalistic...

Two night stay, late check in on first night. Very eclectic design, somewhat unexpected considering the neighborhood. Booked a Mono room and staff upgraded us to a bigger room on the Mono floor which was great because we had large luggage. Very quirky design to the room, large bathtub situated right behind the bed. Liked the toiletries provided and the...

Arrived at the hotel late at night and were given a very welcome iced water on arrival. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Room was modern and unlike any other we've stayed in before. A smartphone was included, so we could use it to find places using the maps when out and about and call to...

I don't have to visit Singapore often, partly because to expensive, partly because I don't have a huge amount of business there and partly because other places in Asia are more vibrant. I'd stayed over the road in the Moon 23 a couple of times and had always been intrigued by the slightly low key frontage of the Wanderlust. I...

Booked a Mono room through the Starwood website. Service was good, but the room was adequate, if a bit average for the price. We booked a king bed, which was actually two twins shoved together and disguised as a king with a thick duvet. Many toiletries also seemed missing when we entered: we had no bath soap and tissue, although...

While the windows are thin and the noise goes until the wee hours of morning, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wanderlust. The rooms, albeit small, were accommodating and comfortable. Just stay with someone you're very comfortable with!

On arrival the staff we very friendly, and made us very welcome. The room, a Mono Room, was decorated in a really 'funky' style, had a big bed, most comfortable, free mini bar, safe and toiletries available. The room was made up daily, and keep very clean. All of the staff were most friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was in the...

Staying in Little India

Neighbourhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly coloured saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colourful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Centre, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colourful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Wanderlust in Little India draws madcap, curious voyagers to the old ethnic enclave. Made for guests with a sense of adventure, we invite you to walk the unconventional path where a radical hotel experience awaits. Its history began in the 1920s as the Hong Wen School, where the building at No 2 Dickson Road still retains its old-world charm with an unchanged façade. Situated 10 minutes from the cosmopolitan stretches of Orchard Road and the Central Business District; Wanderlust also offers door step access to a bustling, colourful street life. The four storey boutique hotel has 29 rooms. Just as no 2 rooms are identical, the same can be said for each floor in the hotel. It features the groundbreaking works of award-winning Singapore design agencies. Each agency was given full creative freedom to design an entire level in the hotel, resulting in four, different ‘in-your-face’ themes – ‘Industrial Glam’, ‘Eccentricity’, ‘Is It Just Black and White?‘ and ’Creature Comforts.’ ... more   less
