This is a budget hotel with a bit of style. I booked a single room, at a low price. It's a very small single. Combination shower gel / shampoo dispenser, in the shower. The air con struggled to cool the room. Free WiFi, although a bit slow. The East Coast Road area seems nice, with several restaurant options. Only S$18...

The staff at that Hotel is more than excellent in the service and help they give. I received Info about what to do...and what not to do, which no one ever gave me in an other country...Perfect, thats all \I can say

Rooms were a bit small but decent with own toilet and bath, tv and good air-conditioning. They also have fast and unlimited WIFI. There were a lot of restaurants (budget to expensive) near the area. Walking distance (around 10min to 15min walk) to 112 Katong Mall and Parkway Mall. The front desk staff were very accommodating. They attended to all...

Room rates are cheap. Sounds like a boutique hotel but more like a run down budget hotel. Reception in one building and rooms are at another building (need to walk over). Rooms are very small and stuffy. Just ok for budget travelers.

Le Peranakan is cheap by Singapore standards. The single rooms are very small with a single cot, smaller than a normal bed and a bathroom resembling a cupboard. All the other hotel patrons sounded like mainland chinese, talking at a volume similar to an aircraft taking off, with more interested in group talks in the hallway than sleep. Given how...

This is by far the worst budget hotel I had ever stayed. Booked Singapore hotel late. So no choice but to try this one for 4nights(mares). The room is very small, bed is abt 1.5m. Toilet is small (you will have to walk sideways to enter the bath cubicle which is, also small). Air con is not cold on the...

I had to stay in Singapore for a short layover, so for this reason it was the best. It took me only 10 minutes from the airport for 15 Singapore Dollars. It has a nice neighboorhood with restaurants and bars, the rooms are small, but cute. Everything you need is there. Wifi is free. The staff at the reception is...

This little residential hotel is located one bus ride ( 5 minute walk and up to 15 minute wait) from the MRT and several city blocks (~10 min walk) from the airport bus stop. Nice (but pricey) cafes surround it. We were visiting friends in the area, but wish we'd booked a place closer to the MRT since the buses...

It has the necessity need for a hotel -- even though the room quite small for a single person but it's okay for rest, quite neighborhood & close to the airport, make it easy to come to airport only 15 minutes way from Changi. super helpful since i'm catching an early flight where bus hasn't run. wifi work okay as...

Let me start with the only positives this place is cheap by Singapore standards and it is centric but that is about it, the rest is better to forget as soon as possible because the place is extremely small, claustrophobic and not very clean. Receptionist was extremely rude and you can't even get the lighting right. So if you want...

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
