Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly coloured saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colourful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Centre, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colourful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.

I booked for the night before as we were arriving at 7am. Then they gave us a 6pm late checkout instead of midday as we were only there to transit and grab a few hours sleep. If you email them your request for early check in, they'll probably accommodate as they were really nice to allow us late check out for no extra charge.

"Best idea is to choose a room in a different hotel"
"request for a room with balcony, to allow you a view of Little India and have some private time under the sun"
"Rooms advertised as "with a view" or "with windows", remember that they cannot be open or seen through."
"Room with view cost you SGD 10 more than room without view. But we can't see anything anyway. So, we recommend a room without view."
