Pros: Nice setting. Reasonably good snorkelling. Cons: Uncomfortable beds, terrible showers, either scalding of freezing. No mosquito nets, but plenty of mosquitos. Rooms not cleaned. No coffee or tea making facilities. Food OK when there are a lot of people, poor when only a few. Rooms very run down and mouldy smelling. Overpriced for what it is.

This isn't a place worth travelling to if you're coming from abroad but for a night away from Jakarta, looking to get away from smog and congestion, it's really quite pleasant. Nothing particularly stands out--rooms are basic, food is average at best (although plentiful), everything is pretty rundown--but the staff are friendly and the setting does have a relaxing effect....

Stayed there for my diving trip, the location is good, I think still one of the best in Jakarta area. Done several diving there, the dive assistance provide you with good service. However the food there is too standard for the same price you paid you can have much wonderful eating experience in other island. The room was not very...

I had read an earlier traveller's very negative comments, but I found to the contrary, Kotok had real charm. Sure, there is evidence the jungle would like to take it back, but there has been effort to give the guests an island experience that is close to nature, and takes advantage of the beautiful beaches, lagoon, ocean spectacle and wildlife....

If you're expecting luxurious, 5 star accommodation, this isn't the place. But if you want peace and tranquility then it is perfect. We - my partner and I - stayed for one night mid-week in October and had a brilliant time, despite the paranoia about stone fish (we didn't see one at all!). Take insect repellent - there are some...

Large mosquito's will greet you upon your arrival, apply repellent before arriving or leaving the jetty, we burnt a mosquito coil (provided by staff when requested) in our room for the duration. The island looks like it used to be great, however the majority of the cottages have fallen into disrepair and are not available and are now overgrown. The...

Just an hour by boat from busy Jakarta you'll find this tropical paradise. Bungalows on the island, a birds recidence, a lot of rainforest, a great place for diving and big big lizards. Although the bungalows and the restaurant are not very fancy (it is a little bit old everuthing), that gives also the charme at this place. Together with...

Overall great little place for a getaway. 1hr 15min by speed boat. Clear blue waters with surprisingly minimal plastic and garbage you see on islands closer to Jakarta. Helpful staff with mini dive shop. Minimal gear that needs servicing or replacing but good enough to get it done. If you own your own gear, bring it. If you want to...

If u need a few days to escape Jakarta and want total peace and quiet in simple rustic accommodation this is the place. Just 90 mins speedboat ride from Ancol Marina but a world away from the crazy traffic of Jakarta. Accommodation is very simple nothing fancy but the super friendly staff, green jungle paths and clear water make it...

We visited Kotok Island for just 2 days and it was fantastic. Snorkling, walking through the rainforrest and looking at the sunset. The trip to the island with a big speedboat was quite an experience.

“The rooms near the treehouse are quiet, have beach and water views and a good place to enjoy the sunset. It is a medium walk from the restaurant and bar - bring a torch for the areas where there are no lights. Another tip - Bring additional snacks, especially if travelling with young kids. Meals were included but no snacks. Another tip - bring mosquito coils for your room and bug spray. This is not provided. Another tip - bring beach towels as only bath towels are provided Another tip - bring shoes/booties for use in the water due to sting rays and stone fish Enjoy you time”
