I have stayed in this hotel many times. Built in a fort-temple form, this renovated private property into a hotel is a gift for the travelers to enjoy Tibetan architectural taste. All rooms are of different sizes and settings with some rooms have frescos in the wall. The garden at the courtyard is a gift. The restaurant is great and...

I stayed there during my visit to Lhasa last year. It is located in the center of the old town and near jokhang temple. However, the food it provided maybe taste 'different' to my tongue. The room was quite large, with a bedroom, and living room, kitchen and bathroom. You can feel Tibetans traditional atmosphere here. However, the bed was...

We stayed at the Tibet Ghorka hotel for four days in August. It was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were adequate. (Coffee could have been better.) The hotel staff were always helpful. The hotel's location in the center of the old business district, however, was the best feature. We were able to walk everywhere.

Leisure travel with another 2 friends for the first time to Tibet. LOCATION The hotel was located in central Lhasa; approximately 45min - 1hr drive from Lhasa Airport, 5 - 10mins drive to Potala Palace, 10 - 15min walking distance to main Beijing Street (shopping) and 5mins walk to Bhakor Street / Jokhang Temple. ROOM We got a triple room...

This place has got charm. Rooms are huge, clean and comfortable, but not set up for business travellers. My room had a recently renovated bathroom, but it still took around 10 minutes for hot water to come through. Rooms were cold, but a heater and good blankets provided enough warmth for spring. I would be hesitant to stay during winter....

Loved Tibet and Lhasa but three nights in this hotel was three too many. Unable to compare with any others here. Hotel has character, (was the old Nepalese Embassy) I believe one of only two English speaking hotels. It's location is very good and the staff were lovely and tried very hard to help. However our standard room left much...

This is an attractive and comfortable Tibetan hotel. We had stayed in the Shambhala Palace which was very nice except for the rock like beds. The Gorkha Hotel's beds were firm but compared to the Shambhala they were bliss. The restaurant is very attractive.

We stayed a total of 4 nites. I understand the building is the old Nepali Embassy. Has a lot of charm. Rooms are clean Staff is friendly. Nice courtyard for happy hour (beer and peanuts) before supper. Nice restaurant upstairs - but when we were there only did breakfast. Front door is locked at night. good security feature.

The main building of Gorkha is characteristic in Tibetan style but the stairs are steep. The staffs are smiling. The courtyard is nice and quiet. Poor acoustic partition between the rooms and the corridors, we can hear the voice coming when seating in the yard. The public restroom is not well maintained, the dim light did not feel very comfortable....

I stayed at this hotel for a total of six nights and found it absolutely charming. It is old, but that's part of the charm. There is a central courtyard which we enjoyed sitting in at night. The rooms are not deluxe, but they are certainly adequate. The beds were comfortable and everything worked. The location is very good, as...
