The Ibis is one of the cheapest hotels in Hong Kong, so it was a bonus to us if we found it comfortable, quiet and nicely located.
That’s exactly what we found, we slept well, found the beds comfortable and the location is great for all lines Mtr’s, the macau ferry and there’s a ding ding tram stop within 50m or so.
The shower was powerful, which was good for waking us up in the morning! There is a Starbucks within the hotel to grab on the go or to relax on returning.
The Hong Kong MTR station is good for Disney, Big Buddha, etc and one tip is to turn right out of the hotel and cross the road via the first elevated walkway/bridge around 100m away. You can then walk the entire journey undercover via the raised walkway, which will keep you out of the hot sun or torrential rain to the station…
There was a lot of rain whilst we were there, so this was a good find!
Loads of eateries just a short walk away towards Sheung Wan station and beyond and you very quickly stumble upon the main city within 10mins.
Great stay, would recommend for those on a strict budget!

Excellent location in central CBD hong kong From the airport take the bus to mackau ferry terminal building cross the road you are 2 or 3 stops from hotel by tram heading up des veaux road. Look for the Starbucks on the ground floor The rooms are very spacious and the beds are comfortable not to soft not to hard The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful With great advice there is a tram stop that will take you into CBD for $3 HK This will connect you to Central train station and a pathway thru to J exit and a short walk up to the cable car to the Peak. The Peak has the most amazing views of Hong Kong. The Ibis has a restaurant and meals from breakfast are served The hotel is also a short couple of minutes walk to the harbor and I reccomend the walk has a similar feel to the bund in Shanghai You are also a 2 minute walk from the local bus station so everything is easy to find and quick to get to for convenience

I got a room at the Ibis for a very good price in the middle of summer. The staff were great - the shower wasn’t draining properly on arrival, and I requested a mattress topper. Both done within a short amount of time.
The size of the room was good, inline with NZ Ibis rooms. Water pressure was fine in the shower, TV had plenty of channels, sheets and towels changed on request.
The room was quite dusty, which I think was a result of the central air con. This was also quite noisy, so o slept with earplugs at night.
I was very surprised that there was almost no noise from the corridor or elevators - really good sound proofing in the rooms. Bulk shower gel supplied in the shower and there are two water fountains at reception to fill your own bottles, reducing the wastage from disposable ones.
Fantastic, safe location. Really lovely neighbourhood - a quick walk to MTR, Trams, buses and ferries. Thanks so much for a stress free stay. Loved it.

The hotel staff kaybe's service is very good. Free upgrade to the sea view room. The view is great and the transportation location is convenient. Liu'anju is next to the hotel downstairs. Overall, it is highly recommended! ! My first choice next time I come to Hong Kong! ! The room is not too small, the toilet is separated from dry and wet, so the whole room will not be wet. There are many delicious and shopping places nearby, there are many shops, and there is a Starbucks downstairs~convenient! There are a lot of ding-ding cars nearby~ There is a stop at the door, which is great! The hotel is very clean and the staff service is really great. There is a supermarket within walking distance. It takes about 7-8 minutes to walk to the left from MTR Exit C of Sheung Wan Station. The Hong Kong and Macau Ferry Terminal is nearby. It is very convenient to go to Macau. Highly recommend!

Hotel Ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan The review refers to the travel period November 2024 and room 2716, traveling as a couple without children. Normal standards for amenities and food, not luxury travelers.
Hotel in general Relatively large hotel with 550 rooms on 32 floors. Reception on the 5th floor and breakfast room on the 6th floor attractively furnished. Unfortunately we couldn't find a place in the breakfast room where it wasn't very cold because of the strong air conditioning, so better dress warmly. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable in all areas. Good location, Ding Ding, and bus in front of the door, a few minutes to the metro and Macau ferry terminal, cheap supermarket and Seven Eleven nearby.
Food Breakfast OK, more geared towards Asian guests, there are lots of hot dishes, but not much for a German breakfast, no cheese or cream cheese, 2 types of sausage and toast. Guests also had to point out frequently that some things were empty and needed to be refilled, even when the restaurant was not very busy.
Room 2716 Standard room, with a harbor view, the size is OK for Hong Kong but with very few storage options, it is barely enough for one person. The light switch for the bathroom is on the wrong side outside, very inconveniently placed. Some minor cosmetic defects that need to be repaired, see photos. The beds are very hard, despite the extra topper that the hotel offers. The room is the last one in the hallway, so there is little noise from other guests, but unfortunately the staff elevators are opposite and you can hear them constantly, even during the night. We noticed that some rooms seem to have yellow, red or blue tinted windows, which then colors the room in the corresponding color when light comes in from outside, which would have been disturbing for us. Due to the view and location, room 3108 would probably be the best room.
Staff/service All of our special requests were fulfilled and queries were answered quickly by email.
From the airport you can reach it by bus in 30-40 minutes for around 5-6 euros.

Dear about_uli, Thank you for sharing your detailed review. We appreciate your feedback regarding both the positives and areas for improvement. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the hotel's location, view from room and wifi. It is also wonderful to know that our staff was responsive to your needs. We strive to provide excellent service, and it is rewarding to hear that we met your expectations. For the temperature in the dining room, we have shared with the Food and Beverage team for follow-up. Your comments about the variety offered and the need for more attentive replenishment of items will be noted for future improvements, however we are sorry that it caused unpleasant experience to you. We recognize the importance of storage space and will take your observations about the light switch placement and minor cosmetic issues into account. May I share with you that we do have a renovated room from August last year for our guests to consider. Namely “MyRoom by Jennifer: My Residence / Queen Room”, the 17 sqm cozy room features a tasteful blend of soothing colors and soft lighting. The well-equipped amenities include USB charging ports, a window-side table, large storage space and more will make you feel right at home. You may consider booking this room type available on our official website (all.accor.com/7606) the next time. We are sorry for your unpleasant experience regarding the sound from the elevator. You may approach our Duty Manager to request a room change if you prefer, which we are happy to do so as long as there is room available. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We hope to welcome you back in the future for a better experience. Kind regards, Jennifer Siu Hotel Operations Manager

The location was perfect as it is situated in CBD, and only a short stroll of 10 min to both Sheung Wan MTR station and Macau ferry terminal.
Staff overall were courteous, and buffet breakfast was great with a decent selection to choose from. There is a Starbucks on the ground floor, and a water cooler in the lobby on the 5th floor.
Room was compact but clean, tidy and comfortable,
Mainly got around by MTR, followed by bus, though if want to explore HK Island more and visit Repulse Bay, Stanley, Shek O etc., bus is the way to go and most accept Octopus card including the public light minibuses - though do have cash on hand if in case unavailable.
Overall had a lovely and memorable trip, and highly recommend staying here.

Dear David, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay at ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan! It is great to hear that the location worked out well for you. Locating in the heart of Sheung Wan, we are 5 minutes away from Macau Ferry Terminal and 8 minutes away from Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun MTR stations, plus we have multiple trams and bus stops opposite the hotel are indeed convenient for exploring the city and getting around. I have passed on your kind words towards our staff as motivation for them to maintain the service quality. As you enjoyed the buffet breakfast which features International and local delicacies, we continuously strive to improve our services and evaluate our breakfast offerings. Although the room is 17 sqm, it is wonderful to hear that it was clean and comfortable. May I suggest you try our Studio rooms in 25 sqm next time which are also equipped with large bay windows and timber flooring which give our guests a modern and inviting feel. Once again, thank you very much for sharing your delightful experience and recommending this hotel to others. May I end by saying that it was a pleasure to serve you and we cannot wait to welcome you back very soon. Kind regards, Jennifer Siu Hotel Operations Manager

The ibis Central and Sheung Wan Hotel is located near Sheung Wan Station MTR, within walking distance and convenient transportation. The hotel counter is on the 5th floor. It was only around 2pm when I arrived, and it was not yet check-in time. I originally thought I would have to wait, but Clement at the counter was very kind and quickly helped me check in, which was a relief after running around all morning. I am really grateful to him for being able to go back to my room and rest right away! The room I stayed in this time was on a high floor, and the high-altitude sea view could be seen outside the window of this room type, which was quite relaxing. The interior of the room is clean and tidy, and the equipment is quite new. The bathroom is separated from dry and wet areas, and the overall space is quite generous. And the price is cheap. I highly recommend everyone to stay here!

We stayed for 3 nights early November 2024. As we arrived with an early morning flight, we were not counting on getting a room until in the afternoon. However, Clement at the Frontdesk most kindly helped us to a room in the morning hours, which we had not expected. This made it possible to catch up on sleep for a couple of hours before going out on the town. Thanks!
This is our fourth visit here since 2015. Why do we keep coming back?
- Location is brilliant with a great view over the harbour (do pay the tiny extra to get a room facing the harbour, it is so worth it). MTR is just a couple of minutes away, taxis are available just outside with the fare to Central commonly not exceeding the base cab fee (November 2024 this is 29 HKD). - The service level is quite high. For instance, we wanted a topper to our bed. One phone call taking less than a minute, and soon staff arrived and put the topper in place and made the bed again. - Staff is very friendly, the staff doing the rooms very service minded and friendly. - Rooms are bright and clean. We noticed that some wear and tear is becoming visible, but apart from that, everything was great.
In short - given the amount you pay, you get very much for the money. Unless you are looking for a luxury stay, we can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. If you're on a budget, you'll love it.

We stayed here 2 times. There is some difference in quality in the rooms so some things depend on what room you have. Room 1201 was next to the elevator which gave lots of whirring noise all day and night. This room also only had 5 tv channels, none in english. Room 2007 was located further up the hall so no noise but this room did have red windows (they asked us in advance if this was ok). Red windows give a very strange ambiance in the room. The tv in this room had lots of channels, also some in english
Pro Big rooms Great views of the water and buildings in Kowloon Clean Friendly staff
Cons Location is nog great, you’re in between Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun MTR stations so it’s a 10 minute walk to either. The tram is much closer but less convenient. Not really a designated place to put your suitcase or room to unpack the suitcase so this did take up a lot of the space in the room

Dear Femke M, Thank you very much for your comments and appreciation towards our room, harbour view, cleanliness, and staff. Regarding TV channels, we have 40 channels in multi-languages such as French, English, Korean and Mandarin. I regret to learn that you have trouble looking for English channels during the first stay and please feel free to contact us staff for assistance the next time. Alternative to Sheung Wan or Sai Ying Pun MTR stations, there are multiple tram and bus stops opposite the hotel with ease of access to get around Hong Kong Island and beyond. We understand our location may not be suitable for all our guests’ needs and we offer our apology. To enjoy a spacious room and bathroom space, I recommend a Studio room in 25 sqm that may suit you better for your next stay with us. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We truly value the support you have given us and we certainly look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Kind regards, Jennifer Siu Hotel Operations Manager

This hotel sticks to the the Ibis ethos. Good location, value with standard room configuration and basic services. This is a busy and large hotel with a constantly crowded reception, which is located on level 5. The onsite restaurant/bar is pretty basic but good value. The gym is a token offering with only 2 pieces of equipment and access has to be booked in advance. 5 lifts service the building.
The room is snug, but had a tall ceiling giving the feeling of space. Suitcases need to be stored under the bed. Cooling works very well and the room was quiet. The view over Victoria Harbour was excellent. The bathroom was a good size with great water pressure. Drainage was slow, so care has to be taken not to flood the floor. The lobby and interior hallways looked tired and needed refurbishment. The electronic passkey was fickle, but did work. The lady who serviced our room (Level 21) was super friendly and helpful.
Dining options are close by. A 7/11 is nearby as is a laundromat. The Macau ferry is about 500 metres away. Outside the front of the hotel is tram and bus stops.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
