some people seemed to like this place. However, I was robbed for 850 dollars, so I will never return here or probably ever to Hong Kong. Staff was nice, people were nice in general, just like at most hostels, however, having my money stolen is enough for me to never return.

The location is good; the accommodations are pretty basic-- I was in an 8-bed dorm and they really cram you in there. My bunk bed was super rickety so whenever I or my bunk mate moved the whole bed shook (I felt worse for her as I had to climb up and down during the night). I stayed in a...

Having stayed here before and absolutely loving it (in a 6 bed dorm), I was expecting great things! The staff were still great and really helpful; the location was still brilliant and the place was still clean and tidy. However, I was very disappointed with the room we were given and when I say disappointed, I mean in total shock!...

Check Inn is a great 'affordable' hostel on Hong Kong Island. The staff is incredible (especially Chee Man and Austin McNiff, two great members of staff). The hostel also organises trips to Happy Valley and Pub Craws - the perfect way to meet other travellers. The internet is fast and the location is perfect on HK Island. The bathrooms on...

The hostel was very clean, and the staff was really nice. It's a little far of a walk to the central district, but you can get a cheap taxi there. The beds are pretty stiff, but the wifi was great and there are electrical outlets everywhere! The common area was kept very nice (even has a massage chair!). Overall, a...

Initially decided to stay here for 2 nights, but after a night there - Booked for 2 more nights again (this place was that good :)) The exterior of this hostel was a challenge to find, as there weren't any clear signs of the place. However, the staff provided very detailed directions beforehand via "Booking.com" app. Stayed on the 3rd...

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
