The Salisbury - YMCA of Hong Kong is lauded for its exceptional service and prime location, with staff members earning praise for their helpfulness and professionalism. While the atmosphere blends charm with a touch of the dated, guests enjoy the clean and comfortable rooms, despite some signs of wear. The hotel's value is appreciated, offering spacious accommodations and stunning views at reasonable rates. Although the amenities are well-regarded, especially the diverse breakfast options, some visitors miss modern touches like USB plugs. Room cleanliness receives mixed reviews, with infrequent cleaning being a drawback for some.

We have stayed before at the Salisbury back in 2007. It was brilliant then but since the renovation it has got even better. The room we paid for was a harbour view high up on the 14th floor (guest rooms are from the 6th to 16th). The view was perfect and if you downloaded the 'Symphony of Light' app the daily harbour light show could be enjoyed from the room. The rooms are not large but adequate. The bed is king-size and comfy. The air conditioning very efficient. The rooms are attended by the maids once every 3 days but if required towels are changed daily as are the room bins. We found this not a problem whatsoever. The maids are very helpful and particularly with extra pillows. The bathroom was modern and as one would expect in a top hotel. Check-in was a little laborious but do be warned, they do make administrative errors, we picked bed and breakfast and on checking in the receptionist was of the opinion we only ordered one breakfast per day. It was sorted out but make sure you have your booking with evidence on it. Breakfast was international and therefore comprehensive. There is no bar as such but the restaurant near reception does a reasonable cheap evening meal. Where we had breakfast there is a buffet in the evening but this is expensive and therefore we did not eat there. There is a wonderful swimming pool available all day from as early as 6am. Make sure you wear a swimming cap or you cannot use it. As the weather was not to hot we used to sit out for a few hours on the 4th floor patio for a quite drink. this outside space is open daily until 9pm. Overall great value, good attentive staff and a perfect setting for visiting Hong Kong. The Star ferry is just 5 minutes walk away.

The hotel location is excellent; it is nearby the MTR, and we took just 10 minutes to reach Central from Tsim Sha Tsui.
Staff at the car park counter were impressive, always greeting me and my kid with big smiles. While I was waiting to check in at the counter, the staff in front of me assisted my child by helping them sit down and ensuring they were taken care of while my wife and I focused on registration.
We understood the policy of 3-day cleaning, but it was very nice when I called for towels, and the cleaners in the corridor were also friendly.
The restaurant in the lobby is lovely; after I checked in, we enjoyed a quick lunch with family. They offered us many options, and the waiters were friendly, presenting and recommending dishes to us.

We stayed for two weeks in a partial-view suite, overall I would rate it as a transactional experience, meaning did not really feel warmly welcome. From the moment we arrived, checked-in and checked-out, don't think we ever saw a smile from any of the lobby and front desk staff the two weeks we were there. No greetings and no questions asked about how our stay was when checking out,

That said, we do like the attitude of the housekeeping staff, they were responsive and friendly. Room was livable overall although the furniture, the bathroom and carpet were quite dated. Also there were limited power outlets which are hidden underneath the desk, and surprisingly no USB plugs anywhere, considering this is a must-have nowadays.

A strong positive is the location, we loved how convenient it is located and the many shops, tourist attractions and restaurants nearby. The partial harbor view was awesome, worth paying for it. All in all, it was an ok experience, I would not rule out not returning but perhaps would look for other alternatives to compare for sure.

We had an amazing experience at the YMCA hotel on Salisbury Rd. We actually arrived late in the evening due to long lines at the luggage carousel at the airport. The staff were friendly even though we were late in checking in. They even upgraded our rooms to a suite and gave us a complimentary breakfast buffet and drinks for 1 day.

The rooms were so clean and so was the bathroom. The room was spacious and had a great view of Victoria Harbour and the city. My child loved it so much, she didn't want to go home! Staff were easy to communicate with and whenever we requested something to the room, they obliged quickly. The location is also optimal since there is a nearby train station, a nearby mall, and nearby convenience stores around the area.

The beds we got were huge and very comfortable. The bathroom we had included a bathtub and the soap/shampoo/gel dispenser was refilled daily. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here in the YMCA hotel. If given the chance to go back to Hong Kong, I will definitely check back in the YMCA hotel again.

We arrived before noon and our room was not ready yet so we checked our bags and went for lunch at the cafe restaurant in the hotel. We really enjoyed the food here. We had a bit of time to walk around and explore the area. When we returned at 3pm we had been upgraded to a suite which overlooked the harbour and was so spacious and comfortable for our 3 night stay.

As others have mentioned, the decor and furniture could be updated, but it was clean. In the sitting room there was a musty smell coming from the old carpets and sofas, but the bedroom was good.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to use the YMCA facilities. We enjoyed our stay at the Salisbury YMCA of Hong Kong and would recommend it for its location, price and service.

Stayed here a decade ago and happy to have stayed again. Still it's old school but somehow have the keeping up with the times feel to it. Location is one of the best points, the partial harbour room we had on the 13th floor was satisfying for what it's worth.

The room size was just right, enough space to move around even with a couple of luggages spread out. Lots of cabinets to keep your stuff. Quite surprised to see that they still use the old styled wall mounted hair dryers that somehow does it job. 32 inch TV we didn’t use. Furniture and overall design was simple and basic. Bed was comfortable though the duvet was separating inside the cover. Towels smelled a little too distinctly HK to me. Housekeeping on our floor was prompt on requests. We had pretty decent partial view of the harbor even if the room was facing inwards to the property.

The facilities for activities are shared with local members on another section of the hotel. With slightly heated indoor pool good for kids and elderly (also a larger one for competition swimming w/o heating). Wall climbing and gym facilities, among a few others. Best to visit during off hours.

Checkout was quick and didn’t even take a minute, and concierge guys were also always prompt when asking for assistance.

Overall, still a decent choice that is usually priced well enough if you book rather early especially if you’re after a harbor view that isn’t too pricey compared to others.

It’s absolutely ridiculous- despite leaving a clean my room sign someone came into the room replaced the towels but did not bother to clean the room when I called the reception I was told post Covid they don’t change the bedding which is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard considering they do everything else - sheer laziness and cost cutting.
Also there was no water kept in my room. I’ve lived here before and promise never to live here again. It’s the worst service possible and they are not even apologetic about their carelessness

The YMCA location is great, very close to the MTR, a short stroll to Victoria Harbour and close to the Museum of Art. The room we had (a 1 bedroom city view suite) was fantastic. It was exactly what we needed for a family of 4 as a base to explore Hong Kong. The staff were also very pleasant and helpful.

The cleanliness of the room was ok, some dusty areas and stains on the furniture.

We booked direct with through the website to take advantage of the B&B offers but found these to be misleading. We got 2 free breakfasts for 1 morning (we stayed for 5 nights) Although there were 4 of us and we were under the impression we would have full B&B so might be worth clarifying this with the YMCA before booking. As the breakfast is very expensive to purchase.

Thank you very much for the arrangement of Ms. Joyce Lee, the manager of the hotel reservation department, our highly respected pastors and teachers had a very memorable 45th anniversary experience. They’ve been living in Canada for many years, and they’re very happy that they’ve stayed in Hong Kong for a short time for pastoral work and can celebrate their wedding anniversary! This time at the YMCA Hotel, no matter the location of the hotel, the type of breakfast supply, the size of the room and the attitude of the staff, are full of enthusiasm and diligence to address guest enquiries. This is very appreciative.

Most grateful to be able to create good memories this time was Ms. Joyce's quick response, careful arrangement and preparation. When the shepherd opened the room and saw the glowing Happy Anniversary lamp, everyone was very surprised and excited! Thank you Ms. Joyce! In fact, in addition to pastors, I have a very good experience! After this experience, we will definitely introduce YMCA of Shinjuku!
