I have been staying in the Mandarin Oriental since 1981. This was my first visit to the Excelsior. I was very pleasantly surprised and delighted with the whole experience. The hotel is very well located for shopping and dining and is an enjoyable alternative to Central

I absolutely love the location of the Excelsior, being in the middle of Causeway Bay with loads of shopping, dining, bars etc all in walking distance. The rooftop bar is also a must with great views over the harbour, and a good selection of drinks and tapas (albeit not cheap). There's a good gym, and the buffet breakfast in the...

I recently stayed at the Excelsior for 4 nights whilst visiting Hong Kong on business. Upon arrival check in was busy yet the staff were accommodating, opening up ana extra check in desk so that the wait was not too long. The whole process was smooth and basic instructions were readily available on items such as lift location, breakfast times...

Lovely hotel with good customer service. Great views of the bay. Neat a metro station. But make sure you have a breakfast included package. If you have the money upgrade to exec club as lounge is great with excellent views and helpful and welcoming staff.

Service is excellent. Free access to the "Handy" mobile phone with data and free international calls is invaluable. Rooms feel dated, but the linen and bed are excellent and the rooms are clean. Gym is really good. Laundry service and wireless internet are excellent.

This is a good hotel. By HK standards, the rooms are spacious. I had a large bed, a table to work at and a bath in the bathroom. The service was also good here. The best thing though is the location. This is a very short walk from fashion avenue and near a lot of really good bars and restaurants....

We booked the hotel for watching the fireworks on new year's eve, but we were very were very disappointed when we were offered a room with no view to fireworks, even though i booked a full harbor view executive room. The reception told us we did not specify we want a fireworks view room? I was surprised to hear that...

One of my little pleasures is reading the South China orning Post whilst sitting in the restaurant overlooking the Hog Kong Harbour. I will admit that years ago, the view was better, but stealthy land reclamation has eroded what was the best, for me, location for breakfast. Never mind, the restaurant covers every nationalities taste from the East to the...

Dear Marklorr Sincere thanks to you for giving us a 5-star rating. We can't agree with you more that Victoria Harbour has been eroded in the past year. Not to worry though, as soon as the government's construction work is done, it will be back to a fantastic view. We welcome any criticism, no matter how tiny it is. We...

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
