We visited Hong Kong and The Mandarin Oriental over Chinese New Year weekend. Everything was absolutley perfect from beginning to end. Barry and the entire concierge team were extremely helpful before we even arrived. They set up dinner reservations and light parade tickets before our arrival. No question was too small or too much for the team. We were very...

Well doesn't the subject line say it All....it probably doesn't and neither can this review. An absolutely fantastic experience at this property and no two ways about it. Location right in the heart of the city.... The business centre is connected by an internal passage and so is the metro train and all the malls with premium brands and eateries....

I did not choose this hotel and I was a little trepidatious about staying there, as it is an older hotel. I was so wrong! My room was clean and beautiful. I have never witnessed a housekeeper clean so thoroughly and when I put my clothes in the cabinet for laundry service, they were picked up within minutes. Staff from...

@Location: I am not a HK expert, but believe the location to be perfect. @Service: Had high expectations and these were fully met. From check-in to housekeeping to bell boy to concierge. Wish every (high-end and expensive) hotel would be as good. @Room: Was skeptical when booking to due "age" of hotel. But hotel has been very tastefully refurbished and...

I've been going to Hong Kong for business for years, and have stayed at a number of the hotels over time. I consistently find the Mandarin to be the best in terms of atmosphere, convenience and service. I'll give an example - on a recent stay I came back to my room and found laundry there. I was surprised since...

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
