We recently returned to the Orchid after a pleasant stay there several years ago. Without a doubt, the Orchid remains a "cool" place in the Baochao Hutong that offers excellent breakfasts amid "authentic" accommodations. However, during our April, 2017 trip we experienced a failure of communication on the part of the hotel management that leads us to believe they have...

It's a great place in the hutongs. It feels like I'm at home. (This was from my son 😀). This place is not easy to find. And staying in the hutongs is not for everyone. But if you want to stay in old Beijing and experience daily life then this is a gem! The hotel is down a small narrow...

The team at the Orchid were super hospitable to out guest, who was visiting Beijing for one month. Room was great, the view was great, and the team even went so far as to provide a cell and sim card so the our guest could find his way around. Top notch.

We stayed in many places during our trip to China and this was one of our favourites. As it is located down an alley, taxis will leave you out on the main street and it is a few hundred meter walk to the hotel - whose entrance is down another narrow alley. We were un-nerved the first time we walked...

I stayed here while in Beijing, and I was very impressed with the hotel. The setting is awesome - it's in a Hutong, one of the narrow alleyways that make up the nicest part of the city, and there are a lot of restaurants, etc., very close to the hotel. It's also very close to the Forbidden City, Bei Hai...

The Orchid isn't for everyone. Taxis/Drivers typically aren't willing to navigate the narrow alleyways of the hutong, so you might have to haul your luggage a ways and keep your eyes peeled for the tiny alley that leads to this hidden gem. And, some might be put off by this crowded little corner of the world, where Westerners are few...

Our group of three stayed at Residence #9 of The Orchid Hotel - a nearby apartment (about 5-min walk) rented out through the hotel office. It was a lovely little apartment in the hutong district. Fair warning - not all taxis will go down the narrow alleyway, so if you don't pack light enough to walk a few blocks with...

We came to Beijing on the 72 hours stopp-over visa and we were lucky to have found the Orchid for our stay. We could not have chosen better. We simply loved everything about the place: - beautiful design - nice and clean rooms - excellent food (breakfast and dinner) - best in class service (helping us a lot to put...

We had a great stay here. Super friendly people working here (a shout out to lilly and shortie), the breakfast was great as was the location. After a busy day discovering beijing and hutongs, so nice to come "home" to quiet. Loved my foot massage at zigzag and dinner at the Dali Courtyard. Walked pretty much everywhere and relied on...

A friend recommended the Orchid.. and I'm so glad she did. I don't know if I would have chosen it on my own. It's down an alley off a narrow road in the Baochao Hutong. The location was wonderful. Within a 2 minute walk there was fun shopping, and we got a great feel for the neighborhood. Mr Shi's dumplings...
