This was our second camp on our trip and it was well worth the visit. The standard of accommodation was excellent with luxury “tents” that were spacious and very comfortable with amazing views over the area and of various animals roaming around the camp. The staff were all very professional but friendly in all areas but our guide/drivers - Karisa and Jackson were outstanding. They were excellent of knowing just where to go on each drive to see an amazing array of animals. We saw lions, leopards, cheetah, elephants, warthogs, zebra, giraffe etc etc. The only animal we couldn’t find is the rare Rhino. Our all day track was well worth it and having lunch out on the plains was fantastic. Karisa and Jackson were even able to find a spot by the river that was quiet but perfect to see the migration of Wildebeest and Zebra - amazing to see. If you are thinking of booking then do it - you won’t regret it.

How nice to hear from you – and to read your kind words about such wonderful times with Mara Bushtops in our Conservancy and on the African plains. You’re so right to talk about “tents” in inverted commas: we think of them as 5-star (at least!) boutique hotel rooms that just happen to be under canvas. As for calling Karis and Jackson outstanding, they will be so proud. Like their colleagues, their constant aim is to provide fantastic service, so thank you for underlining how well they succeeded in that goal, especially with reference to finding a quiet spot by the river. We have a policy of not joining large gatherings, which so often spoil the quiet and purity of the landscape. Our teams know every nook and cranny in the Mara, so make a point of heading for uniquely private vantage points. The fact that this was still perfect for game viewing is always good to hear, as were your review title and concluding line. Do come back for a longer stay – and we’ll try to find those elusive rhinos!

Spectacular people and views! Our group of eight had a wonderful experience at Bushtops Maasai Mara. The staff, most part of the Maasai tribe, were kind, diligent and so lovely. We were greeted by Nelson and Senna, our safari guides at the air strip. From that moment, we knew we were in good hands as they listened to our goals and delivered. We saw so many animals due to their expertise in locating animals. Bushtops location next to a salt lick proved to be spectacular viewing of zebras, wildebeest, Cape buffalo, giraffes, elephants, impala, gazelles, etc… While we dined, animals would come up to within 30 feet of the camp. Our room was luxurious and very comfortable. It was cool at night so the hot water bottles placed in our bed made for an amazing nights sleep. The spa is glorious. It is set apart from the rest of the camp to allow privacy and serenity. We enjoyed open air massages. Thank you Bushtops for making this a once in a lifetime vacation.

We live for Wow! It’s so good to hear the word, summing up emotions that are almost impossible to put into writing. You’ve done a great job though, in describing our team as ‘kind’, ‘diligent’ and ‘lovely’. Nelson and Senna deserve a whole new set of adjectives, including ‘expert’ and ‘eagle-eyed’. How they spot almost invisible wildlife remains beyond most of us mere mortals. You note the importance of the salt lick in our private Conservancy. We think this is our most priceless asset, adding something unique to fine dining, luxury accommodation and our spa. As you say, it adds up to a “once in a lifetime vacation” – though we’re always delighted when lovely people like you return twice, thrice or more! So come back to Bushtops when you can (maybe Roving Bushtops next time): we promise the warmest of welcomes.

We just returned from a fabulous 4 night stay at Mara Bushtops. The conservancy that surrounds the camp is a little slice of heaven and home to animals of all kinds. You can just sit out on the porch in front of your luxurious tent and gaze for miles. The staff is amazing, a special shout out to Joyce, thanks for everything. The food was first rate and Juliette at the spa was terrific. Of course the people who we will never forget are our driver and spotter, Karisa and Jackson . They shared their passion and knowledge and expertise…all while hosting us with the best treatment as guests setting up meals in gorgeous locations right out of the Jeep. Karisa skillfully got us in spots where we could really have a good view of the animals and patiently answered all of our questions and We will always remember Jackson’s beautiful smile and how he said “ Look at that !” In a way that expressed a true appreciation for the amazing biome that is the Masai Mara. Thank you!!!!

You’ve got it exactly! We’ve always thought our Conservancy was special – and “a little slice of heaven” is spot on. Having our own wildlife spot all to ourselves, with our own salt lick right in front of the restaurant and spa, is a key part of what makes Mara Bushtops stand out from the crowd. That said, it’s also the people who make a real difference, so thank you noting how amazing our staff are. You picked out Joyce, Juliette, Karisa and Jackson in particular and by name: they all say hi – and thank you! And so do we – the whole team at Mara Bushtops. Just as Jackson’s “look at that!” enthusiasm shows how our talented drivers and spotters never tire of their stunning surroundings, we too never take for granted the warm feedback of our honoured guests. So thank you once again for your kind words and “simply amazing” review: it was and remains much appreciated.

Heart breaking to leave. Everything was perfect, I have been to many hotels - Four Seasons - Ritz Carlton etc and this is on par with those hotels. We are literally in the middle of no where and have wifi, luxury accommodations and amazing food. Customer service is outstanding. I am afraid to leave anything out so, I’ll just say, my wife and I loved every second of our trip to Bushtop and did not want to leave. Thank you to all the staff.

Thank you! It’s wonderful to get such warm and generous feedback. The fact that you called your stay ‘perfect’ is the ultimate accolade. Perfection is usually impossible, but it’s the goal we strive towards, in every aspect of a Bushtops visit (at least, those within our control). That’s why your reference to outstanding customer service matters so much to the whole team. You’ve posted a lovely review and will be remembered as lovely people – we miss you too. So when your broken hearts mend, come and see us again!

This was our first trip to Kenya, and we traveled with friends who have previously described Bushtops as their favorite place in the world.. and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the Leopard / family suite, and the extra living room space was very welcome. The views are simply spectacular, merging the feeling of being in the bush with high end luxury. The team was constantly tidying / setting up the room when we stepped out - little touches like hot water bottles in bed, etc. The Hot tub was amazing, and every finish well considered. We enjoyed the restaurant and flexibility on the menu, and after 4 days didn’t feel bored. In fact, we loved it so much we extended with another night, where 2 of us moved to a smaller tend just to experience it. Overall an amazing and tailored “hotel” experience. The drives and guides were equally capable - and we had amazing sightings: leopards (mating), lions (mating) and a lone cheetah. Would also note that it was nice and quiet and we had the camp to ourselves most of the trip, so a good time to go pre-migration.

Whenever we face challenges at Bushtops – and gosh, there have been a few in the last two years - what gets us through is lovely feedback from people like you. Thank you! You use the word ‘amazing’ a couple of times, which is just right: the wildlife surrounding our conservancy and across the Mara more than earns that adjective, but (we hope) so does the entire Bushtops experience. Our entire team is united behind the goal of making every trip amazing … so it’s great to hear that we succeeded. Our team never forgets that although we’ve seen thousands of happy visitors, each individual arrives with new expectations, fresh and ready to see and feel something fantastic. We can’t promise everyone a mating leopard or lion (lucky you!), but we always promise Wild Luxury – stunning nature combined with being treated as honoured guests. This helps every Bushtops visitor reconnect with what matters most in their lives. It’s wonderful that we delivered to such an extent that you extended your stay – and we’d love to see you again some day soon, either at Mara Bushtops or one of our sister camps.. In the meantime, thank you again for taking the time to say such nice things about us: it really is appreciated.

I travelled here with my husband who was on a work trip and we loved every minute. The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic - we were well looked after by the manager Lawrence and his team. Super nice waiters who greeted us every morning. Our tent was huge - and open at all sides - with a wonderful view onto a hillside teeming with zebras, impala, eland and giraffe. Our guide was Charles and our spotter was Stanley - it's always great to have two sets of expert eyes when you're on safari. They were both full of knowledge and eager to find us the resident lions. Thanks to everyone at this camp for looking after us so well.

We’re blessed to have our own salt lick, so it’s wonderful Jess that you enjoyed it and took the time and trouble to tell others about it. The team loved having you at Mara Bushtops: thank you for adding such generous comments and for namechecking our wonderful staff. They love what they do – and being recognised for doing it so well. Come back and see us again soon: the wildlife and our teams will be waiting!

This was our third long (7 night stay) visit to Mara Bushtops and it still is as wonderful as we remembered it. The key to Bushtops is its staff, who are all absolutely fantastic. From Thomas running a seamless operation to our drivers Jacob and Alfred, not to forget Pascal who looked after us including post game drive hot tubs and a most wonderful romantic candlelit dinner on our last night there. And I feel bad that right now I can't remember everyone's names because also the reception staff, restaurant staff (including the two Stephens) and the spa staff deserve mentions. Down to details: what sets Mara Bushtops head and shoulders above everyone else is how they take care of absolutely everything for you. From the very beginning, all you have to do is book your flights and Martha takes care of the rest: a driver to pick you up at the airport and take you to a hotel in Nairobi if you arrive on a late night flight (we recommend the Hemingways), then pick you up the next morning and take you to Wilson airport for the transfer. Once you are in the camp, contactless check in and then everything is done to your utmost convenience: laundry, the room gets cleaned while you are away on your drive, hot drinks brought to your tent, and the restaurant doesn't have a schedule, you just turn up and get freshly cooked food. Nothing is too much trouble for them, you can tailor your day to your whims and they can even cater for a fussy gluten free eater like me. After two previous visits, we thought we had seen everything but Jacob and Alfred always find ways to up the ante, from lion cubs to mother-and-son leopards, and four rhinos! Even on the drive to the airstrip for our trip back Alfred spotted a rhino at a distance that I couldn't quite believe. They make great companions, with extensive knowledge of the bush and its ecosystem and also very very funny. I always mention the spa because to me, it is quite unbelievable that they have built a five star spa experience in a remote location, but they have! (I mean, they even have electric treatment couches with heated covers!). In short, I cannot award anything less than an "Excellent" qualification to Mara Bushtops and also send them our gratitude for yet another wonderful relaxing stay.

People sometimes ask if reviews matter to us: they really do! We get so much useful information from observations after a visit – and so much pleasure from lovely comments such as yours. You’ve been kind enough to review Bushtops after each of your visits and I can’t tell you how honoured and delighted our people are when they read such enthusiastic feedback, especially when (as in your reviews) they get personal recommendations. You refer to your gratitude for a wonderful relaxing stay: please accept ours in return, for your gracious review. Please come and see us for a fourth stay and we’ll try to keep upping the ante for you! Warm regards, Claudia Stuart

This was our third time at Bushtops and it was as fantastically relaxing and luxurious as we remembered from our trip nearly two years ago. Everything about it was as perfect as always from the food and service in the restaurant, the care taken of us by Pascal through to the game drives Jacob and Alfred took us on. If you are considering going to Mara Bushtops , do it ! You will not be disappointed. If you get the chance , ask for Jacob and Alfred for your game drives. They do not just follow the rest of the cars on the Mara but understand what type of experience you want and for us have always delivered unforgettable days. Highlights this year included a less than one week old lion cub , a cheetah hunt (the cheetah went hungry) and a group of no less than 4 rhino ! We are already planning our fourth visit !

Thank you both so much for being such gracious guests and kind reviewers! It’s such a joy to have adventurers like you return time after time, renewing a special bond with Bushtops and nature at its most engaging. We’re thrilled that your memories of previous visits were reinforced by your latest trip and promise to keep our Wild Luxury standards as high as possible for your next one! You make a great point about travelling out of season. Unsurprisingly, our most-asked question is all about when to visit. The answer is that any time is wonderful, thanks to a simple trade off: the more popular the month, the more busy the Mara becomes. Conversely, when there are fewer visitors, you can still see so much (even if this doesn’t include migrating wildebeest) - and the landscape is all yours. As we look forward to your fourth visit, we will pass your good wishes to Jacob and Alfred (who modestly acknowledge that all our sharp-eyed duos are as talented!). Thanks again for taking the time to write such a lovely review.

WOW, Mara Bushtops, WOW. My husband and I just got back from a 4 night stay at Bushtops to end our Uganda/Kenya honeymoon trip and it was incredible. Easily the most beautiful and luxurious accommodations we have ever encountered and such a wonderful finale to such an incredible trip. I cannot write enough to words to describe how special this property feels except tell you that I'm crying as I write this. Leaving was emotional! Our guides Nelson and Daniel made our trip. They were so knowledgable, knew the Mara with their eyes closed and were so fun to hang with for 4 days, we miss them dearly. Our server Leyban also went above and beyond for all our meals and our Butler, Pascal, kept us cozy with a drawn hot tub (+snacks & cocktails) after game drives and hot water bottles in our bed at turn down. Mara also has an airstrip and lounge in their conservancy so that was a nice surprise when we were leaving. Also, I had asked the chef for a recipe the day before we left and never saw him again but Nelson came through and it was in my inbox upon landing in the US, so sweet! Bushtops goes above and beyond and was the PERFECT end to our trip. We can't wait to return!

Well thank you! We do like those words ‘unbelievable’ and ‘incredible’: they convey just how hard it is to imagine what a stay at Bushtops is really like until you visit. As you discovered, you simply have to be there. It’s gratifying to know that we delivered beyond your expectations and it’s so kind of you to take the time to share your experiences, even if it was through tears! We will let Nelson and Daniel know how important they were to your visit. We are immensely proud of them, just as they take such pride in sharing their expertise (and in your case, forwarding that delicious recipe for chicken in coconut sauce). It’s good of you to mention the great work done by Leyban and Pascal as well. Our rangers often take the starring role, but there’s such a big cast of supporting players, all of whom would love to welcome you back one day. You say you can’t wait to return: we’re counting the days!
